First up, the Moxy doesn't position itself as a business hotel, so my thoughts may differ had I been here for a holiday instead. The location is very handy for World Trade Center and the Financial District. There is a reception at ground level and then another on the 3rd floor where the bar and restaurant are located and where guests need to pass through to access the lifts for the rooms. The bar is lively and a nice spot to meet friends for a casual drink. The room itself was very small even by New York standards. The Moxy does a good job of making the most of a tiny space, but hooks rather than a cupboard for clothing, is not ideal if you need to hang a week of clothing, as there's only 3 hangers. There is an iron in a drawer under the bed (along with a safe), however, the board very small and one that needs to be rested on the table, which drops down from the wall. The decor is great - and there's a hanging seat next to the bed. And clever use of art and lighting. Along with a small room size, I found the noise levels, which I assume was from the rooftop airconditioning which faced my room on level 29, made it hard to sleep even with earplugs. It was a little disappointing to see the spectacular view when getting out of the lift on level 29, and then realize that the room itself just faced aircon units on a nearby rooftop. Overall the service is prompt and really friendly. Not a top spot for a business traveler, but more style and vivre than many hotels in this part of Manhattan.

Was in a prime location for activity we had planned and staff were friendly and responsive but clearly seems like the building has some electrical issues. Lobby restaurant/bar area is a great vibe. Room is very small and shower is not great. All lights went out while in the shower then when they all came back on then nothing in the room could be turned off. Building maintenance couldn’t even figure out how to get things to work or turn off after climbing into the ceiling of our room at 1am. They manually lowered our blind however had to sleep all night with all lights glaring bright. Room 2911. Now seeing others have had the same issues. Staff seem to be trying their best.

The hotel views customers as an ATM. A surprise “Destination Fee” of $50 was added to our rate at checkin with no previous warning. The fee gave us a credit at the terrible, noisy restaurant on site, free tickets to the Statue of Liberty Ferry and use of bikes. Our trip was already planned, so the destination fee was pointless. In the restaurant every food item was terrible and the restaurant doubles as a disco, so we were not able to talk at dinner. Furthermore, it was not possible to order 2 menu items within the $25 allowance. Breakfast was stale croissants and average coffee take out. We pitched the croissants after one bite. The little bit of room furniture was chipped up, the automatic window shades did not work, first shower was cold, and the water would not shut off after the shower. They never cleaned our room or made the bed. This hotel is not comfortable, not maintaned, or transparent.

From the moment we arrived, the team at the Moxy made our whole family feel welcome. Everyone at the front desk was so nice. We loved the games and the mood in the hotel, and the rooms were good and functional, we got upgraded to a room with a view! But the best was Jose, who took care of us throughout our trip, from helping with our bags and parking and giving us tips for the city. We look forward to coming back next time!

Rooms we’re okay. Not your typical room set up for business travelers. You can smell weed everywhere. They charge a daily destination fee that you have to use everyday at their bar. Otherwise, you will lose it.

I spent two nights here on business but would never stay again. Upon arrival, there was no one available to check me in, so I was asked to go upstairs and wait in the bar with my suitcase. It was after 9 pm on Sunday night and the bar was effectively a nightclub with DJ music. Once I was finally checked in, I called down about getting food. (I had traveled all day and was hungry.) The staff indicated I could order something online, but while I was in the midst of ordering, service shut down because it was 10 pm. The staff had not advised me that service would stop in a couple of minutes when I called. The room was also extremely small - to work on the computer, I had to sit on the bed. There was no coffee available in the room. This is not an appropriate hotel for a business traveler. It appears to be designed for 20-somethings that want to party instead. If that is you, maybe you will like it.

Nneka was so welcoming from the moment I walked in, (hopefully I spelled her name right) she was friendly and took good care of me with getting me checked into my room which is exactly what I needed after a long day of international travel. She was very nice and seamless:) Thank You!

I have nothing but nice things to say about this hotel. We ended up here for a couple of nights, last minute, after being stranded by cancelled flights. When we first arrived, my kids were thrilled (“this is the best hotel lobby, ever!”), but I was a bit worried we (adults) were too old and uncool for the environment and that the kids would be viewed as an annoyance. I needn’t have worried. Everyone, from the front desk staff to the bar staff to the other guests, was lovely. The rooms (at least ours) was small but not unexpectedly so for NYC, and designed thoughtfully. The shower was fantastic. Food in the lobby was pretty good and the drinks were great. There is also great food in the area, if you know where to look and the Metro is mere steps away. I would 100% stay here again, with or without kids.

Honestly the hotel is nice and overall okay. The reason why I am giving two stars is because they failed at providing me a promised refund. When I checked in I was told that the $25 destination fee is not refundable but whatever my breakfast fee is will be credited towards the $25. So I eat breakfast there. I never get the credit back. I called them a week after the stay and was informed I would be receiving an updated email with the correction within 15 minutes. This never happens and this was also a week ago. The other thing that happened was after I had checked into my room I called for a toothbrush. I was told it would be sent up right away. About an hour later I called back down to ask for the status. This time another person picked up and informed me I would need to come down to pick it up myself. I politely explained that is not a problem but would have been nice if someone told me that an hour ago so I wouldn’t be waiting for it and it’s now past midnight. When I said that the lady on the phone then stated she just came on shift- will ask about what was previously promised and then agreed to send someone up with a toothbrush. I hope they can use this review to work on improving their processes so future clients have a better experience with them.

The hotel looks beautiful, but they clearly picked style over function. The rooms are small and barely have any furniture besides a bed, two flimsy fold out stools, and a ridiculous hanging chair/swing. No closet, no table, no dresser. Two people with any amount of luggage would not fit in the room. The water pressure is terrible and the elevators are slow. There is a $25 destination fee per day. You are credited $25 for food/drinks purchased ‘on site’- as there is only a bar at the hotel, no restaurant, I ordered from the (very limited) room service menu. I was later informed that the credit was only for purchases at the bar, but since that was not made clear to me up front, they did offer to refund me. I appreciate that the staff was helpful and friendly, but they are unfortunately working at a very poorly designed hotel.
