I stayed 4 nights at this hotel by myself and was sceptical given the reviews...
The concierge was pleasant at check in, given it was 1am in the morning and I was given a room on the 6th floor and handed a piece of paper...More
I was very pleasantly suprised by this hotel. Had read a lot of not so good reviews after we had booked in but to be honest this is a good Base for me and my friends. Staff were very friendly and once we worked out...More
We stayed at this hotel while visiting NYC in Nov. 2017. We had stayed there in the past but were quite disappointed at how run down it has become and will not be returning. To balance this review, first the positives: Great location, close to...More
First, it's shabby, dirty, run down and my first room stank of mildew. Second, I wouldn't agree that the front desk people are extremely helpful--not rude, but didn't really go out of her way to help me. Third, the TV and the phone in the...More

Nestled between Central Park and the Hudson River, the Upper West Side offers iconic architecture and a quiet, residential respite from the buzzing energy of downtown. Along Central Park West are many of the city’s most iconic apartment buildings, as well as the American Museum of Natural History, which has been welcoming visitors to its historic exhibit halls for over 140 years. Culture fans will love Lincoln Center,
home to some of the world’s best opera, dance, film, and theatre performances, all centrally located around a beautiful fountain. Spanning the entire length of the Upper West Side, Riverside Park is ideal for a long, leisurely stroll in a quiet green space.

The hotel is upgrading rooms. Some remain old and others look quite new. The hotel itself is older. I have stayed at this hotel for many years and never saw any mold. I have seen an occasional crack in the wall and some chipped paint, worn carpets and a lack of drawer space, but I wouldn't call the place "dirty."
This area, away from Times Square, has a lot to recommend it. Walk over to Amsterdam Avenue and find a variety of dining options all the way down into the 70s. You can walk across Central Park to the east side, visit the museums and location to the subway is great. The little deli across the street is fine. If you want more, go around the corner on Broadway and check out the Manhattan Diner or walk up to 100th Street to the Metro.
I suggest that you ask for a room in the back of the hotel in the upper floors to avoid street traffic noise.
This hotel offers reasonable prices in the city. It's not a chic hotel, but, let's face it: you will probably only be sleeping here anyway!

Hello. I've stayed here on two separate occasions, mainly because of the location. The first time, I thought the room was terrible, but the second time, when I had one of the renovated rooms, it was better, even acceptable. We didn't get eaten alive by bed bugs either! Wherever you decide to stay, I hope you have a good time.
