First, what we liked: location, clean, comfortable king bed, quiet room because we requested upper floor opposite 37th st side, good shower and water pressure, fast elevators, facility and rooms appear to have been updated/remodeled recently What we were not too pleased with: No daily housekeeping unless requested at from desk, no lamps beside the bed, no coffee in lobby, no hotel bar......even though website photos show many nice drinks, one very thin comforter on bed....had to request more, room extremely small.....only can place luggage on the floor.....no stands provided, Overall, an acceptable stay at a fair price for NYC. Next time I would look around some more before booking again. Would rate 3.5 stars if possible.

Hotel's Favourite
The Draper is a fun boutique hotel within walking distance of many major attractions. We loved the new fresh look, the comfortable rooms with cold a/c, and most of all, the friendly staff. Max was especially helpful from my first call asking questions about the hotel to helping me with extra bookings due to airline changes, booking us a cab to and from the airport, giving advice on local attractions, helping us with daily needs. It's not often you find a staff that remembers you by name. Thank you to Max and the rest of the staff for making us feel welcome so far from home.

I traveled solo to NYC for work/play and This is my new favorite hotel. The location is great and the rooms are clean, comfortable, stylish and the staff is top notch. I actually had a cell phone disaster and not only did the gentlemen at the front desk try to help fix my phone, they generously assisted me with the logistics of navigating traveling with no phone. I have stayed in NYC many times and it’s hard to find a reasonably priced hotel. The Draper has an upscale boutique vibe without a reasonable nightly rate: Mostly, the staff is top notch and that very much adds to the quality of the experience. I can’t recommend this place enough!

This hotel is midtown, in a great location. Two blocks from the Empire State Building and close to shops and restaurants and Bryant Park. We felt safe walking at night in the area. Nice outdoor seating area in the back of the building. Housekeeping is at your request only. Towels are available anytime in the lobby. Lobby has free ice water and pastries in the morning for sale. Vending area in basement. The room was clean and modern. We had 2 double beds, refrigerator. Yes, rooms are smaller, but that was expected. Our room had a good view of the street outside. The windows opened. If you want to stay in midtown, then I would definitely recommend this hotel for budget savvy travelers.

Very pleasant staff. Rooms are clean but cozy & sized commensurate with price. If more than one guest, ask for more towels at checkin. One thing that needs work is the lobby. The lobby badly needs the stained couch replaced and a fresh coat of paint.

I arrived 4 hours early prior to check in. Max was very friendly and helpful- he was able to get me my room! The check in experience was exceptionally smooth with Max. Hotel lobby is beautiful, location is great, and rooms are lovely (clean and spacious). Highly recommend!

I stayed in this hotel in May while visiting NYC. The location was great as it was walking distance to a lot of things in Manhattan. My room was small, typical for NYC, but overall clean. I liked the smell of the body wash, shampoo and conditioner the hotel had in their bathroom. I am now trying to figure out what the name of the said toiletry product is, as I write this review. The individuals at the front desk was friendly and welcoming. I definitely would stay here again!

The people that work at this hotel are very helpful and kind. The rooms themselves appear to be recently renovated and are very clean. The rooms are very small, however. VERY. There is no closet and very little space around the bed. Obviously this is NYC so you can't expect much space. But my room was good for 1 person, maybe two. The bathroom is also tiny but very clean. The shower does not have a shelf or bench or anything to put your things on, which I thought was a con. I hate to put my toiletries on the floor of the shower. All in, a very nice stay.

I have just recently had to start coming to NYC frequently for work, so I have been trying different hotels in the area to determine which ones I want to use regularly going forward. With all the positive reviews of the Draper, I thought I would try it. I was aware of and accept the tiny room—this is NYC. But no luggage rack, no iron, fake creamer, and you have to get up to turn off the bedside lights—there are no bedside switches…really. Also USB port in the clock by bedside didn’t work though the sockets did. I had to unplug the lights around the mirrors to get the room dark—there was no switch visible to do that either. Also the desk lamp kept flickering on and off—checked the bulb, the switch, etc. nothing made it work as another option for a light I could control in bed, so to have light before bed, I still had to use the bedside lights and go to the door to turn them off. There is no easy place to plug anything at the desk in case you are using your computer unless you switch the plugs around—there is only one socket available at the desk. Resolution for any call to the front desk was that they had to send someone to my room. I checked in before 11 pm—I was not going to have some stranger come to my room at midnight (when I discovered the problems) with me in my nightgown. The few positives—I do like that the room has laminate floor instead of carpet. It is also very clean and neat. Bed a bit on the soft side. Check-in people nice. However, for the price I paid for 2 nights, I would rather stay at the Kixby or Kitano which are similarly well located. Those hotels are also much roomier and better appointed. I travel quite a bit for work—if other NYC hotels can provide the things I mentioned above, why can’t the Draper? While this hotel might deserve its great reviews for a leisure trip, for business, I am not a fan and will not stay here again.
