This looks and feels like a Sofitel and the front of house staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. But they were not backed up by those who did the work behind the scenes. We had a couple of problems with the facilities in our room and there was little urgency to fix them. Our toilet blocked on the first morning...

Got to say this hotel is worth paying the money for. The staff are incredibly friendly and willing to do anything for you. They are full of advice about New York (was our first time here). We emailed ahead and asked for a room on a high floor with views as it was a special occasion and the communication with...

It is so frustrating. You want to stay in a nice hotel in NYC. But when you stay on Central Park West or the east side, you can never get a cab to get to Broadway for an 8:00 pm curtain. But if you stay at the Sofitel on West 44th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, you have the...

We booked this hotel through British Airways Holidays as part of a package for my 50th birthday in February 2017. We opted for a standard room, which I believe we got (no upgrade), not a problem as we WERE treated by some lovely touches from the hotel for my birthday, as we had informed them prior to our arrival, Our...

Had a luxury room on the 19th floor for 4 nights. Clean, big room with an excellent bathroom. Cant argue with the price. Close to everything and easy to get a cab outside. Would definitly return. Check in was staight forward and the concierge was very helpful. All in all a good hotel.

We booked interconnecting rooms for our family. The rooms were perfect. We were in separate rooms that had an external door & a small hallway that led to the 2 rooms. Ideal for us with our teenagers, as we all had our own space, but comfort not needing to go out onto main corridor when need to go to the...

A fairly solid 4 star performance from the french chain. The restaurant is pretty good and the rooms, though small, are fairly well-appointed and reasonably comfortable, with nice views from the higher floors. There is a gym that is small, but well-equipped. Great midtown location.

The staff and ambience at the Sofitel are great. We love it there. The location is easy to navigate and there are a number of small cafes and shops within easy walking distance. Its a great place in midtown to consider.

My husband and I stayed at the hotel for 4 nights over the New Year period to celebrate my birthday. Hotel was lovely and staff made you feel extremely welcome. On my first evening they gave me a bottle of champagne and a cake to celebrate my special forthcoming day. Location was extremely central and very easy City to navigate...

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
