I stayed two nights at the Harlem Y. I was supposed to stay three, but I couldn't easily get there on the day of the big storm (they were fine about me missing a day). They let me check in early the next day, which was helpful. It's one of the cheapest options in Manhattan. It's really more of a...

My partner and I wanted to find an affordable room in Manhattan for a week-long trip- most hostels were severely overpriced, and hotels were certainly out of the question. AirBNB options were also unreasonable. Harlem YMCA has a super reasonable price in a historic neighbourhood with plenty of character. The YMCA is steps away from the 135W subway station, which...

My dad and I stayed here for 8 nights, it was practical at best for me, the room was very small, but it was all that was needed whilst in NYC, wifi in rooms however was poor (on the 8th floor) and there is only one bathroom for females which was also a problem as at times I was waiting...

We landed at LaGuardia and took the M60 bus and walked about a bock to the YMCA. The location is convenient to the airport and for public transportation. There is parking available for a cost with reservation, but I also saw free off the street parking nearby (weekends)...but a car is not necessary for this location. We checked in a...

My friend and I just stayed here for four days and we really liked the hostel. You get what you pay for, a small room with a bunkbed and access to toilets and showers. My friend and I had two main concerns before going. 1 - Would the toilets and showers be clean? 2 - Would it be safe for...

Spent two nights, and nothing but kudos for the 'Y'. The rooms are basic, and you do indeed have to share a biffy, but everything is clean, it is safe and secure, the beds were comfortable, sheets crisp, and given the busy streets, even relatively quiet (I'd really like to chat with that sadistic Paramedic about his siren, LOL)....and it...

Just small remarks. At the 11th floor, we did not have internet in the room, you have to go to the common area. At one night the heating in the room was crazy! The air condition a bit dirty and noisy, was not possible to sleep. What's more, wasn't possible to open the window (was screwed together. Security couldn't not...

Recently stayed for Labor Day/Electric Zoo weekend. If you're looking for a cheap place to lay your head after a long day of visiting the city, this is a solid place to stay. The rooms are small and basic, but for a hostel, they are on the nicer side. We stayed on the 10th floor, where the bathrooms are semi-private....
