My partner and I were just passing through on our way home from philly via train, deciding to stay a night in New York and with pride weekend winding down we decided to stay here in Chelsea. The service was fantastic and both Marissa and Alexis were very attentive and helpful throughout the stay. The experience even got us to extend our stay 1 additional night to enjoy the city, the view, and the hotel a little more (which they happily helped us with!) The rooms are small but thats their whole thing and honestly the rooms were comfortable nonetheless for the two of us. Will definitely be considering this hotel again in the future! Oh also Bar Cicchetti which is right there in the lobby is a wonderful and very easily accessible amenity. And for your general needs and utility there is a CVS and a Duane Reade right nearby, it is NYC after all.

Hotel's Favourite
We recently chose Motto for an overnight in NYC and were so glad we did. Our stay started off with a warm and friendly greeting from the staff at the front desk. Check in was easy and efficient. We found our room to be clean and comfortable- brand new! Quite beautiful. The view from our room as the sun was setting was spectacular! After an evening at the theatre ( highly recommend The Music Man!), the bar was open for a night cap. Breakfast was fresh and delicious served by more friendly staff. Our overall experience was exceptional! We’ll be back

This was a nice hotel in a great location for us. Walkable to the places we wanted to visit. Functional (but small) room. Fabulous view from 40th floor. Staff was uniformly friendly and helpful. Shout outs to Fouad, Kai, Alexis, Jo-Jo, and the woman running the coffee bar in the morning. Thanks for making our trip so enjoyable

I don’t usually write reviews but had to get on here to shout out how amazing and accommodating the staff here was - especially Kareem, Lovely, and Dante. They made my friend and I feel very welcome and like family more than hotel guests. Thank you guys!

Cute hotel and a good location that is highly walkable. Bar Chicchetti has great food, drinks, and ambiance for a hotel restaurant, but I’d expect nothing less from Top Chef alum Fabio Viviani. The room we had was very small but well laid out with drawers under the bed for storage of items that didn’t need to be hung. It was tight for two people for a five night stay though. A shorter stay would have been ideal given space limitations. The big issue that I had was with housekeeping. They did a great job, but I didn’t ask for housekeeping and didn’t want anyone in the room. We were told at check in that housekeeping was only upon request and that no one would enter the room without permission, which was great, and to schedule a day in advance. We returned to the room the next day to find that the room had been cleaned without any request. I chalked it up to a fluke but it happened again the second day. We raised it with staff that evening and was told it would be addressed and wouldn’t happen again. Then, on day three it was cleaned again. I complained that night and the staff acted like I was crazy and also asked if I had put a tag on the door to stop them from entering. Well, the room is so small and the only place to hang clothes is on pegs placed by the door, which apparently was where the tag was hanging - under all of our clothes - so no we didn’t even know we had a tag, nor did I think we needed something like that since housekeeping was supposed to be on request only. So, of course I hung the tag the next day and housekeeping did not come in. With other hotel brands I have status with I would have been offered points or free drinks or something to make up for the repeated mistake. Instead I was treated like I did something wrong rather than staff not making sure that only rooms that requested it were serviced. Also, the woman at the front desk, that had checked us in and saw us everyday, acted like she had never met us when we had a complaint. It was disappointing to say the least. Also it was a loss of tips for the housekeeping staff because I didn’t leave a tip out daily as I was not expecting them. This Motto location has a lot going for it, so I hope that they continue to work on the customer service provided by their staff to make sure these issues don’t happen in the future.

All staff that i interacted with were lovely! I was greeted and checked in by Jasmine she was so friendly and fun to talk to! She was very helpful, luckily i got to see her on my last day also! Every member of staff i interacted with or walked passed were friendly, polite, approachable and helpful. I enjoyed my stay! I have been to NYC a few times and this is the best hotel i have stayed in, as i have mentioned this is due to staff as well as the location which is bang on. It's close to the Metros and just easy to get back to when you're out and about. Walking distance to most things. Lots of walking distance eateries. I would definitely stay here again! The hotel had a nice fragrance that you could smell whilst inside and walking up the street, i kept forgetting to ask what it was but if you have been to Penhaligons its that kind of luxury fragrance feel to it. (Perfume shop in the UK) I stayed here on a mainly solo trip, i'm female, felt safe in the area. The hotel restaurant was Italian, the food was amazing! and so was the quality, I had a drink at dinner which was like an old fashioned it was so good!. I would recommend walking rather than getting the metro when its like after 9am, its not like the london underground where i would happily travel solo even at midnight, it can get a little scary on the metro (and no I'm not exaggerating). The room size was great for a NYC hotel room, it was a normal standard room with a double bed. Plenty of space. I've stayed in smaller. The lighting was great, with good amount of natural light from the window also. Ive stayed in dark rooms, this was great, i could actually see my face whilst getting ready! OMG the hairdryer, it was fantastic, (my UK hairdryer never works properly in the USA i brought it with me just in case but i needn't have bothered) . I have curly hair, and for those that know...know how important one is for this type of hair. It was so powerful, the best hotel hairdryer i have ever used, i didn't even need a diffuser! i was so shocked, (usually hotel hairdryers couldn't even move a feather) View was of the building across the street but that's fine i was there for a break not to look out my window. Street noise is normal, your in NYC so its to be expected but it was not noisy, just the usual workmen noise from the street but again it wasn't disturbing. The room doors slam shut, i had to yank it shut which creates a thud i tried to be quieter but i could not close my door unless i slammed it..just one of those things i guess as its a fire door. So when you're sleeping and you hear other guests doing the same it can be a bit startling. There was a continuous noise from the fridge i think or the sink unit, i had ear plugs at night but still it was irritating, i never complained about it, you get used to it after i guess. Once i figured out how to use the fan i was fine, i like my room to be as cold as possible as i get very hot and its probably one of the better systems I've come across compared to most hotels. The sink in the bedroom was perfect! It had great unit space for all my toiletries, it was so much easier to get ready etc better then it being in the loo! defo a plus! I received house keeping the second day, ( i never booked it in but thank you) you have to inform front desk when you would like house keeping, which is totally fine, i mainly just needed it for my dustbins to be cleared really. I did book in house keeping for one of the days, even my PJ's got folded, thank you! lol. And my toiletries all lined up on the sink, that was cute. There was no room safe, no closet but there was hanging space, this did not bother me. My brother joined me for part of the stay, he borrowed the steamer which was clean and efficient, did the job. We had drinks on the last day at the hotel bar, they have a nice seating area outside the hotel too, the bar staff were lovely, drinks were great. I saw in the reviews negative comments on the lift, i never had to wait long at all, only once when it was very busy because other humans (guests) were also using the lift. Theres 4 lifts its honestly not a long wait at all considering the amount of floors. Just a little patience! There was no kettle in the room or coffee machine, i love my tea, i travel with my own so would have been nice to make a tea in my room but its ok. Theres a starbucks nearby and they don't charge for hot water i would have happily of paid though (it was actually boiling hot like in the UK, not had this before on previous visits) I had a pleasant stay, thank you!

A lovely and delightful hotel! The decor is trendy and the location is amazing. The room was a bit small, but that’s to be expected in NYC. Our check in and out process couldn’t have been better. Special shout out to Alexis and Ziad at the front desk. They were very professional and friendly and made us feel like old friends. Kayla in the restaurant was also wonderful! It’s very reasonably priced as well and very clean! We will be back for sure!
