This hotel is in a nice location for NY and although the rooms are small they are nicely designed. Hotel is new and modern. They really should have coffee and tea service, you need to use the $10 coupon from your "urban destination charge"($30/day) for coffee in the restaurant t but you need to wait 20 minutes for mediocre coffee. They need more staff - huge lines at check in and check out. For 200-350/night, this would be a fine hotel, but rates jumped up to $700/night during the period we were there which was very steep WATCH YOUR BILL - I applied for a room upgrade when I made my reservation ($32/night). I was charged $160/night. I made 4 follow up calls to the hotel and told me this would be taken care of. It never was. A week later, I called again and they transferred me to Edgar in accounting. I emailed him the documentation and he told me he would take care of it and email me back. 10 days later and 4 follow up email - he never responded. BEWARE!!!…

We recently chose Motto for an overnight in NYC and were so glad we did. Our stay started off with a warm and friendly greeting from the staff at the front desk. Check in was easy and efficient. We found our room to be clean and comfortable- brand new! Quite beautiful. The view from our room as the sun was setting was spectacular! After an evening at the theatre ( highly recommend The Music Man!), the bar was open for a night cap. Breakfast was fresh and delicious served by more friendly staff. Our overall experience was exceptional! We’ll be back

Highly recommend this hotel and would definitely book again for future NYC trips! Perfect Location: Located on a quiet street it is still within a quick walk to a Trader Joe’s and Wholefoods, three main subway lines, and both the Union Square/Flatiron area as well as Penn Station/HighLine/Chelsea. Perfect Size: The whole hotel gives a boutique vibe, not rinky-dink like a motel but not huge like a large chain. It’s easy to maneuver which includes 4 FAST and EFFICIENT elevators and short hallways to your room. Having traveled to Japan just 2 weeks prior, the room actually did not feel small and comfortably enough could fit 4. The sink in the room actually functioned better than I had worried about and the shower water pressure was to die for! Near Perfect Service: Staff were friendly and overall helpful! For some reason though they kept only giving us three sets of towels instead of four, but when asked easily provided more. Perfect Price: Not the cheapest accommodations but definitely not anywhere near the most expensive. Great value!…

Everything about our stay was perfection!! The hotel is so beautiful, the location is amazing and they are always cleaning!! The staff goes above and beyond to make sure you feel welcome and at home. Please be sure to stop by and see Awesome Evan at the bar. At least that’s what we liked to call him because he is exactly that… Awesome. His drink suggestions, his method of making drinks, he’s really talented!! He’s a true alchemist. And on top of it all so personable and kind. He made our tip that much better. Motto by Hilton New York City Chelsea is a wonderful hotel. The staff is amazing, the rooms are well kept and the ambiance is very nice. I loved my room a lot. The bathroom was beautiful, I slept like a king and the room smelled very good and clean. WiIll be back !

I travel a lot - and I am in general very flexible and easy with hotels. This was honestly one of worst hotel experiences I had - unfriendly staff, no room cleaning for 3 days in a row (even though I asked for cleaning 4 times), awful breakfast - neighborhood is nice - but price and service really not worth it

The rooms are two small for the price that you pay. There are better hotel options available for that price. The air conditioning was very noisy all night long when it would turn on and off to keep the room temperature. There is no coffee machine in the room to prepare early in the morning. Also, no essentials available like Q tips. Overall, I was not too impressed with the hotel. The lobby area, restaurant and hotel are nice, although I didn’t have any meals there.

I have just returned home after a five day stay in New York with my wife and son. We chose the Motto because of the amazing reviews here on TripAdvisor and I have to say we were not disappointed. The room was cleverly appointed to suit all of us and everything in the hotel is spotlessly, clean and modern. The staff are so helpful and cannot do enough to help you. An added bonus was the terrace on the street where we had our breakfast and coffee every morning, watching the passers by and watching life go by. The hotel is in a very convenient area of Manhattan equidistant between the financial district and the world trades centre, and also in the other direction, 5th Avenue, and Central Park. Cannot price it enough, we will definitely be back

I did not believe the overwhelming 5-star reviews for this property, which is in my favorite area of NYC, so had to see for myself. Overall, Motto fulfilled the promise: the room (I had a "wall bed" room) is small but very thoughtfully designed with ample storage space; bed is extremely comfortable; public spaces are welcoming; and hotel staff are friendly and extremely helpful. A couple of watch-outs: the $30/day "resort fee" is annoying, and the single-use plastic bottles of water (seriously?!) and $10/day restaurant coupons offered to offset this charge are not helpful; simply adding the $30 to the room price would be more honest. Also, the breakfast was disappointing - I wanted oatmeal and got a bowl of chocolately glue, meant to be fancy and original I'm sure, but def not breakfast food!! The front patio is lovely and the staff there are friendly, but service is often slow. Overall, the positives far outweigh the negatives - I would definitely stay here again.…

This is a great Chelsea hotel. It’s on a quieter street so you aren’t listening to avenue traffic while staying there. The front desk staff are top notch, with seasoned and expert customer service. From the first interaction with them, Ina, Kareem and Caesar set the standard for customer service. The room is “New York” sized, but it’s got a great bed, solid pillows, good linens and a good shower. Most importantly, the HVAC unit is in the ceiling by the entrance. This means that the noise from this unit is practically non existent, leading to a very quiet room by New York standards. Anyone who has had the under the window noisemaker HVAC will appreciate this. Everything is modern and well maintained. And though this is a larger hotel, they have 4 modern, large and fast elevators, so you never wait long to get one! (something lacking in other hotels) Lastly, Lulla's, the in-house restaurant and lounge serves stunning food. All the meals there were delicious and exceptionally well prepared. The quality transcended “hotel restaurant” fare and was next level. Like WOW.. A few nights in the lounge section, they had live jazz music! (for free) Such a sweet to wind down in a chill atmosphere with a killer drink after a day in the big city. So between the front desk staff, the restaurant and the super quiet room, a definite win. (Now for some photos of the food lol…)…
