The hotel staff is great and they are very friendly but the hotel desperately need some maintenance and updating. Specifically, the heating is very noisy and even dangerous, the pluming gets extremely hot at all times which you can run into to or step on the pipes with your bare feed causing an injury, also if an item is left...

Hotel St James was clean, basic and in a great location which was just perfect for us. The staff were very helpful and there is a great place for coffee, etc right next door. What more could you want?

This hotel was perfect for us as we planned on spending most of our time out and about, The location was great for the main attractions. The decor is a little outdated and not of the highest quality but for the price you can't complain. We couldn't praise the staff enough, particularly the gentleman on reception who went out of...

What a great place to stay in NYC! How cool to walk out the door and be in the heart of the city--just a block from Times Square! We were easily able to get to all we wanted to see & do from this location, with the subway so close by and Rockefeller Center, and more within easy walking distance....

Amazing location just beside times square. Staff are very helpful and the entrance and lobby gives a very good impression. Although the only let down is the dated rooms - it doesn't really give you a feeling of luxury but rather a feeling of you staying over at your grans spare room, with the decor to match. Saying that it...

This was a lovely hotel, despite it looking slightly dated and having loads of work done on the outside of it for the duration of our visit. The room had the basics of what we needed and wanted for our 2 week holiday, that being a private bathroom!! And also a good location in the heart of Manhattan, just a...

I laugh at these upper crust crust people who slam this hotel. Go stay at the Marriott. This hotel has some shortcomings but the price, location, and very helpful staff make this a sure bet if you are staying in mid-town. The room was comfortable and yes it did not have your typical refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. You did...

When booking a hotel, I think there are two kinds of people. Those who don't mind at all where they lay their heads at night, as long as there's a roof over their heads. And others, like me, who secretly love a great, cosy hotel. I don't mean super-posh and expensive - just, well nice! If you're the latter like...

After a long day travelling we arrived at the hotel St James to be greeted by the very friendly (and now trip adviser famous) Joey! After our encounter with some generally quite rude staff at JKF, he was a breath of fresh air!! Check in was very quick and just what we needed after being on the go for almost...

If Location and pricing are top of the agenda then you can't go wrong here, perfectly placed just a very short walk from time square and many other tourist stuff Radio city & Rockefeller center just a few blocks away, also a number of cheap (NY cheap) eaterys close by (nextdoor) so should tick all boxes for most people, The...

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
