This is the second time I have stayed here. This time in a studio, room 4. The room was large, very clean and decorated nicely with new bathroom and cute kitcheonette. This room is on the street side so it was more noisey then the other side "E" where I stayed before. I would stay there again for a night...

Not sure which property the other reviews covered - this is one to be avoided. "Local character" does not excuse a miserable, dreary run-down apartment. We had a studio on the 5th floor, facing the street. It's a walk-up and that was clear from the beginning. Furniture would have been rejected by 2nd hand shops - bed was tolerable -...

My 13 yo daughter went on a one week shopping vacation to NYC. So safety was my primary concern. The area is the Upper East Side of NYC. Most expensive zip code in the US. The #6 train is 4 blocks away, numerous delis and cafe on the way. The hotel itself is on the corner of 74street and 2nd...

If you're coming to NY, you're probably not doing much more than crashing here. This is a great place to crash. Close to Central Park and 5th Avenue shops, short walk to a subway stop. A couple of markets nearby make getting supplies easy, as well, if you wanted to use the kitchen area. We only used the fridge and...

I was surprised by my husband with a trip into NYC for my birthday, and as a 1st time visitor, I had no idea what to expect...staying here was absolutely perfect. It's not fancy...it's home. It's not a chain hotel...it's local. It completed the whole experience of being in Manhattan for the first time. Do your research and expect exactly...

Perfect for a couples overnight!! We were 1st time visitors to NYC & opted for this "local flavor" instead of a standard hotel. You feel more like a native than a visitor while staying on the Upper East Side, just 4 1/2 blocks from Central Park. Less than 10 minutes in a cab & you're in the Theatre District. We...

Our time in New York was restful and relaxing because of where we stayed. East 254 Vacation was perfect for our family. We had two rooms. The room on the first floor was so New York with a sitting area and a loft bed. The full kitchen was very nice. Our second room was on the fifth floor. It was...

I stayed in room 4A. Let me start with a positive: the location is very nice and the neighborhood is clean and felt safe. There is a very nice market on 1st and around 82nd that had lots of great food and supplies. That is where the positives end. When we arrived I was tired after a long day of...

Dear Dyan, We are sorry you found your room to be unpleasant. Unfortunately we can not improve a guests experience if they do not make us aware of the problem. We pride ourselves on keeping a clean and safe hotel. The halls are cleaned daily and all rooms are cleaned before guests arrive. If a guest lets us know upon...

I needed a place to stay at short notice. I had a great experience at 254 East Vacation. It is well located, it is competitively priced, it is spotlessly clean, and had just been repainted. It is comfortable and the items inside the apartment were modern and often new. Why pay hundreds of dollars for a hotel with facilities you...

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
