Hotel's Favourite
My family and I stayed at this hotel Labor Day weekend. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Michelle checked us in and was super friendly and helpful starting with check in and also after we checked out and came back to retrieve our luggage since the hotel will hold the luggage for you if checking in prior to 3 and if you check out but still exploring the city which was quite helpful to us since our train was not leaving until 4. This was a great free service the hotel offers. The additional staff we encountered were friendly and helpful as well but sorry I do not have all the names. Location was perfect and very close to many attractions and transportation. If back in New York I would look at staying at this hotel again. I also like that you needed the hotel key card to reach your floor which helped me feel more secure.

THE ARRIVAL -Tight, packed, small common areas; stressful!!! I know that having to take an elevator to reach the hotel lobby is the most common thing in New York, but Hilton Garden Inn Times Square Central’s elevator corridor must be among the narrowest I’ve encountered. Imagine 4 or 5 persons wanting to enter an elevator with a full-size baggage each plus, 2 or 3 more guests with full-size baggage also trying to get out of the elevator through a 6, maybe 8 feet wide corridor. The hotel lobby is also minuscule and barely has enough space for guests and baggage, and finally, when you’re all checked-in, guess what??? You must go back through the same narrow corridor to catch the same crowded elevator that will take you to your room. Needless to say, this was a painful and stressful arrival for someone on a wheelchair, for whom -by the way- there was not the slightest assistance nor consideration. THE ROOM -Knowingly small but a bathroom bellow standards We were not expecting a huge room and thus were not surprised with what we were given; it had the basics and overall comfortable for a wheelchair, including a spacious bathroom. But was the bathroom what accounted for the letdowns. Mold and rust were obvious in many places, including the shower; hooks were missing, including the one used for hanging the extension shower; and the first day we had no toilet paper but rather a bunch of tissue paper boxes. Thankfully, this last detail was fixed the very next day. On the bright side, the huge floor-to-ceiling window let a lot of light in and help fight claustrophobia away. THE LOCATION -Be 100% sure you want to stay next to Times Sq. Hilton Garden Inn Times Square Central is conveniently located not at Times Square’s heart but 100 feet away, which turned out to be just perfect. With Times Square getting more classless every time I visit, it is a good thing not to have its crowds right at your hotel’s front door but rather at the next block, and yet, you’re only feet away from the big screens, shopping, dining, and train stations -which by the way are some of NYC’s most wheelchair accessible. Overall, a great location for kicking-off your itineraries no matter where you’re headed in Manhattan and beyond. However though, be mindful that the noise and glare coming out of Times Sq. will be constantly present throughout your stay and are quite noticeable during the whole of the night, even with the curtains shut and the windows closed. THE STAFF -Noticeably overwhelmed. The staff strives at being assistive and polite but it’s obvious they’re overwhelmed, making interactions feel unwelcoming. The clerk at the front desk, for example, had to take care of the pantry and the checking-in/out guests; can’t really blame him for looking like he wanted everyone to just disappear. Housekeeping -which must be requested, felt a bit inconsistent. I already talked about the tissue paper boxes instead of toilet paper; other day a lot of conditioner bottles were left but no shampoos, and the number of towels varied throughout our stay. I’d like to thank the guys at the hotel’s front door though, they were really helpful and friendly every time we needed a cab and directions, and though I think it is not within their duties, were very assistive with our baggage during our departure. THE VALUE -Wouldn't pay this for a Garden Inn anywhere else. Taxes, fees and everything else included, something like $400USD/night... you're paying more than what you get, but turned out this was the economy-friendly option in the area.

My Husband and I came to New York to celebrate his Birthday. We usually stay at the Hilton Hotels because of their locations to Times Square and all other activities. I was not happy this time though, first of all we had trouble cashing in with our Hilton points , and this is not the first time, past couple years we have stayed at several Hilton hotels at various locations, even in other Countries and we had the same problem. Our other problem with this hotel in New York , the Staff was unfriendly, the bathroom had absolutely nowhere to store your essentials. Keep that in mind Ladies, worst of all the fire alarm was going off at 4:00 am. No one knew what that was about. We were also locked out of the main entrance of the hotel at 8:30pm. Whoever was in charge of the main door was busy on the phone and we and other people were trying to get in.

This was my first time in NY and was told to stay in the Times Square area, but not to get a hotel RIGHT in the middle of it. I was super happy with this Hilton as it's close to everything, but it was slightly away from the middle of the loud/craziness of Times Square. It made it nice to come back to the hotel every time. Close to many subway stations and a few parks right nearby. For NY, it was in a nice area. I was told that most hotel rooms in NY are small and yes, it was a smaller 1 King room, but the way it was designed, gave as much room as possible for two people. There was a longer foyer, so it made for a little roomier experience. We didn't have much stuff, so it was comfortable enough. The whole room was clean, bedroom area had modern furniture and the necessities like a fridge and safe. The closet area was small, but if you didn't have a lot of clothing to hang up, it was sufficient. They were able to fit a decent desk area and a few clothing drawers, so you had all the basics. The bed was quite comfy with clean linens and enough pillows. The bathroom was clean, modern with all the amenities, and plenty of counter space which was nice in a small room. Shower pressure was great and always had hot water. We were on a mid-high floor with a great view of the Empire State Building and we really didn't hear much street noise. The hotel was pretty air tight on that and we didn't hear much noise at all from the hallways either. Despite other reviews, we had AMAZING customer service. Everyone was always friendly and when our plans suddenly changed the day we checked out, they had no issues holding our luggage until very late night and even let us access our things a few times during the day with no complaints. That was above and beyond. The lobby was comfortable to be in and very chill. No one bothered us and the vibe was very laid back. Next time I'm in NY, I'm definitely looking up this hotel! I'd stay again!

The morning staff at the front office were either rude, unhelpful and or condescending. They were not customer oriented at all. Our room was adjacent to the Staff and Mechanical rooms and all day up until 2am, their doors would open and shut and rock our room. On our check in day, there were 20++ of is in line, 1 FO agent, no Honors agent and an assistant mgr that, instead of helping out with check ins, would press the up elevator button and advise on how up use the key card. When we claimed our luggage from storage, the FO agent mumbled something through his mask as he appeared to be busy. So we patiently waited 15mins for him to finish when on turns out, he wanted us to bring the luggage to him at the desk (we were 10 ft away waiting at the storage room door). A service personnel approached him about our storage and the FO agent admonished us for not bringing our bags to him to tag. Instead of simply asking us to bring the luggage over, he chose to have us just stand there waiting for who knows what.

We hold ourselves to a higher standard so we'll address your concerns with our management team moving forward. To be fair, I travel to the city regularly and usually stay at other Hilton properties outside of the tourist area, but on this particular trip, this hotel had by far the best rates (even with the destination fee added on). This is NOT a bad hotel, especially if you want to be in the middle of all the Time's Square related activity as you're right at it. The location is also convenient right between three different subway lines, and several others only a few blocks away. So, it's easy to get around the city from here. 1. Room - I had the smallest room type in the hotel, which is the single queen room. This was, by far, the smallest room I've ever stayed in. Not really an issue, but just not a lot room to spread out or a place to put my suitcase on a rack. (small nuance to which I've become accustomed in my travels). I spent several hours each day working from my room. The desk chair wasn't the most comfortable, but not awful either. However, the desk has a glass top, which makes using my cordless optical mouse impossible. I had to use the guest directory as an impromptu mouse pad. Not the worst situation, but not great either. 2. Internet - As a Hilton Diamond member, I've become accustomed to having premium internet at every property as one of my perks. Apparently with Hilton Garden Inns that have an additional destination charge (fee), this isn't an option, so I had the basic internet, which wasn't strong enough for my work. Fortunately I had a 5G hotspot on my phone and used that instead. 3. Elevators/Entrance - Being near Times Square, ground floor space is a premium. The entrance area is small and when several people are waiting on the elevators, it can get crowded quickly. Not an awful situation as there's a security guard there 24/7 as well, but still not my preference. (the lobby is on the 4th floor) 4. Restaurant - I had breakfast my first morning with a bit of sticker shock. At other Hilton Garden Inn properties in the city, breakfast is around $15 to $20 depending on what I order. Here it's $25 with an automatic 15% gratuity added. I get a daily food/beverage credit as a Hilton Diamond member, but that doesn't go fair against the breakfast cost here. Breakfast was good (not great), the staff were all nice, prompt, and courteous, but again, when I'm traveling on business I'm not going to pay those tourist-level prices. So, while I was trying to save money, the overall costs at this hotel, in addition to the inconveniences, just made it not the right fit for me. Again, if your goal above all else is to be near Times Square, this may be the best hotel for you. I'll be staying at other properties on my next trips.

The room was small, and I didn't get my city view reservation as booked. Didn't book through the Hilton site. Bathroom shower water was great. Apparently, there was some kind of flying bug in the room woke me up at around 4 am in the morning, could not go back to sleep. I was little disappointed; I needed an iron board and requested 2 extra pillows and only was able to get one, there was apparently a shortage. King size bed needs at least 4 pillows. Duvet smelled like someone sleep with it before me. No coffee pods in room. The refrigerator needed some maintenance the freezer part needed to be defrosted and the size didn't quite fit in the space. TV remote was missing the battery cover. Air/Heat gage in room was confusing. Didn't sleep well. Overall location was good.

I booked this room for myself and my mom for a quick overnight trip to NYC. Location was fantastic!! Not right in the heart of Times Square but just a block away, which was nice to not be right in the middle. On the other block was Bryant Park! Excellent location, walking distance to everything!! Room was clean and ready for an early check-in, they will hold your luggage for you if you're leaving late but don't want a late check-out. Room was tiny but it's New York. Elevators are very slow and crowded. but that's out of their control. Staff were very friendly from the housekeepers, to the front desk. Our favorite part was Gustavo at the hotel restaurant. We had stopped there for a cocktail after our show, and once more before leaving while killing time to catch out train. He makes awesome drinks, and was so nice!! Very impressed with Hilton!!
