Currently staying at this hotel with husband and 2kids. Good points:Hotel staff are really nice, good location, lots of restaurants close by. The hotel breakfast was good- had the omelette every day. Kids love pancake and waffle. Bad points: hotel room needs updating. One of the lamp is missing a switch ( see below) and had to be pulled off from socket to switch off at night!! Also, room has a weird smell, bathroom had some overflow problem on our first day which was promptly sorted out. Bathroom grout has mould on it! In summary, It’s a 3* hotel. Good stay for NYC. It’s not luxury! You get what you pay for. Waiter called MJ has attended to us during breakfast at the hotel restaurant and he has been really nice and was really busy but still managed to be courteous.

Hotel's Favourite
I was there for 4 days, Fri.-Mon., during June. Yes, the other reviews I had read are (somewhat) correct: the rooms are pretty small and the complimentary breakfast (I am Gold with Hilton so the breakfast was complimentary; I think for non-Gold, non-Diamond Hilton members there is a $5 charge) is limited. For breakfast, you get 2 hard-boiled eggs, one small Yoplait yoghurt, a plain bagel with cream cheese, and a small container of orange juice. Of course, this is coronavirus crisis driven (the hotel is apparently not yet ready to return to a full-blown breakfast), but I think the management could do more. There are, however, some excellent points about this hotel. There is a refrigerator, microwave, and safe in the rooms. The location is very good, off of Park Avenue in midtown. There is a subway station about 50 feet from the front of the hotel I used the fitness center twice, which is OK. The staff are helpful and generally flexible when the unexpected arises. I had a problem with the bathroom door squeaking like a violin. Maintenance came up quickly and was able to fix it (WD-40). When I checked out in the middle of the day, I had a long wait till my flight at night so the front desk let me use the business center's computer, which is ordinarily only accessible to current guests. This is a hotel with rooms in the range of roughly $200/night (during June). For NYC, that is a fairly low rate. Having stayed at numerous other NYC hotels, I believe that this hotel is definitely an excellent value for money. One curious note about this facility: the elevators! In some Asian countries, hotels do not have a 4th floor, due to cultural reasons (I note, by comparison, that for cultural reasons many American hotels do not have a 13th floor). Hotels in parts of the U.S. that have many Asian patrons, such as Seattle, follow this lead and there is no 4th floor. This NYC Hilton hotel not only does it not have a 4th floor (or a 13th floor, for that matter), but it also does not have a 14th floor or a 24th floor! I noticed this unusual arrangement when I looked for my button in the elevator (my room was on the 25th floor).

Dear Ddan7777, thanks for your recent Trip Advisor review! We certainly do appreciate your honest feedback! Yes, we have received much positive feedback on our boxed-breakfast, however we are excited that our restaurant will begin serving breakfast later this week! As far as your observation on the 4, 13, 14 and 24 floors, we do not have those floors due to cultural reasons. Again, thanks for your feedback and we hope to see you again soon!

I stayed here for the weekend to sightsee, and go to a Yankees game. It is a very clean, friendly, and centrally located hotel. The staff was very friendly, and courteous. The room was clean and fresh. Everything was close by for me to see. The next time I am in town, I will stay here again.

This hotel is in a great location in Manhattan - close to Penn station and a host of subway stations. So much of Manhattan is within walking distance from this hotel! The staff was always friendly and helpful, even though the hotel was clearly very busy. Our room was actually surprisingly spacious for Manhattan standards. Yes, this is not the Plaza, but I found our room to be larger than many Manhattan hotels I have stayed at in the past. Our bed was very comfortable, the A/C worked well, and our room was very quiet. The bathroom was nice and again, large enough to not have to do acrobatics when using the toilet. The shower was large as well and we had great water pressure. The room was overall in very good condition and looked nice. The staff was always friendly, professional and helpful and never seemed rushed or stressed out, even though this hotel was obviously very busy and there were always people in the lobby. I can only recommend this hotel for anyone who is looking for a clean and quiet room in Manhattan.

We stayed in Midtown Manhattan for my youngest son to have heart surgery at NYU Langone. Although there were a few hiccups with the trip, EVERY person that I encountered or interacted with at Hilton Garden Inn was amazing. They were helpful and cheerful. Great hotel especially for the affordable prices. I didn’t realize that I could have digitally checked in to choose our room, had I done this I am sure that the room we were assigned would have been more like what we were told upon booking. (Minor differences, kitchenette vs just a fridge and microwave, there were no extra blankets for the sofa bed but we shared ours with our son, we were told we would have a view of either the Chrysler building or Empire State building and had neither) again, not a deal breaker just after a long day of travel kind of a bummer. The only other thing that was a minor bump in the road, which the hotel had no control over, was that the nearest parking garage that the hotel recommended was unavailable due to the road being closed in the evenings for road work. So it was a bit of a walk from the parking we were able to find. We checked in, got settled, walked to a nearby diner for dinner the first night and the second night we ate right at The Ainsworth, attached to the hotel. We stayed on the top floor. The room was clean, the water was hot and the pressure in the shower was great. We left in the morning at 5:30am to get to the hospital and the front desk person called a taxi for us. Our bed was made and fresh towels were on the rack when we returned. We asked the desk to hold our luggage for us upon checkout as we weren’t yet leaving the city and had to keep our bags somewhere, it was a very minimal fee and they did not hesitate. When I say that every person was amazing, I’m talking everyone. I had conversations in the elevator with housekeeping as well as a gentleman from maintenance. Always smiling and polite and helpful when asked questions. I will for sure be back! Thank you for such great and courteous service HGI!

I stayed at this hotel because it was close to the hospital where I was having surgery. I advised the front desk that I needed a quiet room in order to recuperate. I was given a sixth floor room, overlooking 33rd St., which also was right above the next-door restaurant’s outdoor terrace, where the noise from drunken patrons went on past midnight every evening.
