Or a four seasons or just anything that doesn't resemble one of those Ian Schrager hotels from decades ago that were all lobby no room. This place was the Beekman as you walked the Thompson as you saw the atrium and a hyatt when you saw your room. At $1300 a night

Hotel's Favourite
My wife and I had a fantastic stay. We were in town to visit our daughter who is an emerging NY playwright. We were attending a reading of her work in mid-town. We liked returning downtown each evening to the relative tranquility of the WTC area. Great dessert and nightcap each night. The architecture of the place is a stunner. Beautiful lobby. The gorgeous restaurant/bar space with a kaleidoscopic atrium view is a highlight. Great Fulton St. Subway access with elevator to get the A Train we needed for mid-town. Amex Platinum Fine Hotel and Resort benefits were honored. Our room was upgraded and our credits applied at check out. We'd definitely stay here again. Wife adds: "Every piece of art work is fabulous." She's still talking about the Panda artwork in our room. Concierge was very helpful to us in timing our Uber to LGA for a very early morning flight. We'd definitely stay here again.

We can into the city for Thanksgiving and it was our first stay at this hotel. All the staff made us feel at home from the doorman Gordan and the front desk. Dinner and breakfast were wonderful. I enjoyed the skirt steak and the chicken liver and the Beekman breakfast.

We used to stay in Times Square when we travelled with kids. Then we tried Soho once the kids were no longer travelling with us. Rooms were tiny and prices were crazy. We decided to try to Financial District and found the Beekman online. What a great hotel! The internal courtyard is beautiful. The room was a good size and beautifully decorated. The bathroom was large with a large shower with two excellent heads. The staff were helpful (although maid service came late in the day and turndown service was inconsistent.) They found a humidifier for us when we asked. The restaurant is top notch. Breakfast was a bit of a problem because the coffee had no taste. Not to worry. There are two Starbucks nearby. We were surprised at the price increases of taxis and Uber. Our Google Maps said that the subway would be quicker than a taxi most of the time. So we used the subway and it was easy and quick. The Beekman is very near stations for many lines. We walked just a couple of blocks and always got a direct route whether to Harlem, Times Square, or the Lower East Side. The hotel is also very near the Brooklyn Bridge. It took no time to cab or subway and even to walk the Brooklyn Bridge. The Beekman is in an historic building that has been beautifully updated. It even smells great when you walk in. We were very pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed our stay. We will be back. We will ask for a room that does not face the construction across the street next time.

While staying here I looked up the history of the building and before and after photos from the renovation. Its Historic- Temple Court was great for dinner. The lobby is beautiful and it smells the same as the Thompson in Nashville and San Antonio also!

This place is a marvel, service is stellar, and experience is special, the bar room is the coolest place to have a drink around and the new restaurant Le Gratin is exceptional. Always prefer to stay at The Beekman when I am in NYC. Thank you, Team Beekman,

Perfect. Just perfect. The bed, the bathroom, the decor. There is street noise in New York which is not a big deal but the interior of the hotel was super quiet and we slept very well. I requested a yoga mat and some non-feather pillows which were delivered to our room. We also visited the adjacent restaurant Le Gratin. Close to the subway and close to a great bagel place.

The Beekman is a lovely hotel with some amazing architechtural features. All the people we encountered were professional yet engaging and easy going. The doormen all knoew us after 1 encounter and greeted us as if we were family. They walked us up the street to get a cab when construction blocked the street temporarily. They called us cabs, gave us directions and recommendations. The rooms were clean and comfortable; housekeeping even folded my sister's pj's and put them on the bed. Front desk offered vouchers when 3 weddings and many late checkouts made for some difficult housekeeping logistics making our room unavailable at check in. The bar/restaurant had excellent selections of food and beer and also great servers.

My general advice is 1.) Verify that the surrounding construction has been completed before booking a stay at the Beekman. Currently, there are jack hammers and other extremely loud activities from about 6:30am to 6pm. (I guess if you expect to be touring Manhattan or in meetings during these hours, this wouldn't be a problem.) 2. Know that a large number of the rooms face either directly onto another building or into an airshaft. The other buildling are so close, those rooms are almost like being in an airshaft. They are dark and have zero view. Also, I would recommend NOT booking a room with breakfast and finding a better place in the neighborhood to start the day. The breakfast room is dark and the food (that we had anyways) was not good. The "Seasonal Fruit Plate" reminded me of the fruit that would be served in a plastic cup in a cafeteria at a 70s era school or hospital. What is "seasonal" in NY in November about pineapple, whitish pieces of melon, banana slices and grapes?

We chose The Beekman for our one pre-cruise night in NYC because it was in lower Manhattan with close proximity to Cape Liberty cruise terminal. We also wanted to do 2 things in the city…walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and visit the 9/11 Museum…both within a 5-10 minute walk. The Beekman exceeded our expectations, providing a respite after our non-stop direct flight was rerouted, delayed and then cancelled. We arrived by train from Albany 10 hours later than expected and received a nice bottle of wine in our room. George in Concierge changed our reservation time at Le Gratin, and also made arrangements for an SUV to get us to the cruise terminal on time. Besides all of that, The Beekman is historical, classy and beautifully decorated.
