Lovely hotel. Bedrooms were lovely and clean.staff were friendly. And lobby was clean.only couple minutes from subway and just across from central Park. And the national history museum. And only few minutes walk to.where restaurants and shops were most definitely worth a stay

This hotel has an excellent location across from the museum of natural history on the upper west side. Near all transit and great restos . The hotel staff is different from my first visit and is much improved. Everyone is very nice and friendly and accommodating. Will is a lovely staff member at the door and is so helpful. Rooms...

Went to this hotel for our 5th wedding anniversary and it was a good choice location wise. Just walking distance to the Museums, Subway Stations, and many bars and restaurants around to choose from. Room was a little small, but cosy.

Stayed here 24/10/2016-27/10/2016 hotel was nice, clean and the staff were friendly. Concierge was a great help when finding out about tours around the city. The room was cleaned to a good standard. Overall, a good hotel to stay in. We booked through the hotel to go on a tour around Lady Liberty and Ellis Island where we found out...

This is a busy and noisy hotel with lots of building work going on at present. The rooms are very hot and the air conditioning doesn't work. No kettle in the rooms and no complimentary water. There is a pay as you go machine down in the foyer but its poor quality and expensive. Hotel staff less than helpful and...

Our family stays at the Excelsior Hotel in New York every year. I've offered other hotels to my kids and they insist we must stay at the Excelsior. The location is perfect -- away from the noise and craziness of Times Square, but just a subway ride away with several subway lines very near. Also, great restaurants, shopping and a...

On my first visit to NYC with a group of friends I found the Excelsior to be perfectly located to access transport, restaurants, bars and of course the wonderful Central Park. The hotel itself is shrouded in scaffolding which rather detracts from the view across to the small park in which the Natural History Museum stands. We had booked 4...

A group of us (from the UK and Australia) were booked into 2 double bed junior suites and, on arrival, were placed into smaller rooms with 2 double beds. These rooms were small with hardly any storage space. The bathroom in one of the rooms still had half a bottle of used shampoo on the bath edge (was it cleaned...

If you're going to be on the Upper West Side of Manhattan then this is a reasonable choice simply because there are so few options. But it is neither a great hotel nor a great value. At its price point I think that it is reasonable to expect more. It simply lacks what I've come to expect in amenities: in-room...
