Situated on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in a fashionable residential district for the well-heeled the Excelsior is in an ideal spot for exploring New York. The hotel is typical of many American hotels, a welcoming lobby manned by efficient staff. We asked for a room on a high floor and our 15th Floor room had a stunning view...

Stayed a week at this hotel. Found the room was so small we had difficulty finding a place for our suitcases but the beds were very comfortable. The room we were given was part of a family suite...the small part usually for children I guess. We booked 12 months before so expected more! The staff at the desk were a...

For first time visitors to the States the Excelsior brought a smile to your face as you went through the wooden revolving door at the entrance. The decor was typical of the hotels you saw in movies set in the 30s and 40s. Clean and comfortable room with huge beds, free wi-fi in the room and plenty of storage and...

I like the Excelsior when visit with family. It gives you a NY resident kind of experience. Central park one block away, nice hotel with nice breakfast. You can walk around the streets without being in the craziness of the city. A very paced and relaxed area but far away from the city (have that in mind if you are...

My wife and I stayed just one night on a quick NYC getaway, Sunday, August 24, to Monday, August 25. No doubt we will be back soon for a longer visit. The Excelsior is perfectly situated near Central Park, The American Museum of Natural History, the NY Historical Society, the Beacon Theater, and tons of great restaurants and shops. In...

We stayed here 2 nights on arrival in the US on a 1 week escorted tour. The hotel staff were a bit sour and indifferent but the hotel rooms and facilities were OK as a place to sleep. There are no tea and coffee facilities in the rooms. The lobby and lounge areas are small and uninviting so don't plan...

We stayed in this hotel whilst visiting Manhattan for 3 days. Situated midtown opposite Central Park, it was a old style hotel that was nicely situated for our planned trips. Use of subway and Uber for taxis made travelling around very easy. The hotel lacked a large lounge and seating when just anting to sit and cool off and no...

Fantastically located close to Central Park, with lots of options for food & drink within a few minutes walk. Very well maintained, & serviced, with helpful staff always to hand. If we ever have the chance to go back to NYC, we will stay here without any thoughts of looking for anywhere else.
