Arrived from the UK late 2nd Jan along with the snow. Foyer small but pleasant no problems with check in. Room very small and dated freezing cold no heating turned on when we arrived put the very ancient heater on and it eventually warmed the room, but oh the noise it made even after a long flight we had to turn...

I am a travel agent for one of the largest travel companies in the world, who was assisting my client in cancelling his stay at this hotel due to a flight cancellation. There was a winter storm which cancelled thousands of flights for an entire week, and there was no way for my client to get to New York. I...

We stayed for 3 nights before Christmas 2013. Our room was OK, but the furnishings were a bit tired. The heating in the room was something else, it worked but at a cost....when it started up it was like a jet engine. No trouble during waking hours, not welcome when you are sleeping. The breakfast in the hotel was at...

We stayed at this hotel on very cold and snowy weekend. Front desk staff was very nice and we appreciated being able to get into our room before 3 pm. When we got to the room the heat was totally off and the room was very freezing and it took some time to warm up. Other then that little issue...

We really enjoyed our stay at the Excelsior. Terrific location between Amsterdam and Central Park West and easy access to two Subway lines and of course the Park. Lovely charming lobby. Most of the service was great - housekeeping in particular brought us extra towels, linens and toiletries to accommodate our family without our asking and had the rooms looking...

My family and I love this hotel. It is within walking distance of so much - the Met, AMNH, NYC subway, Starbucks, and Lenny's Deli. The hotel lobby has charm and character. Plus it was decorated beautifully for the holidays. Can't wait to return!

My husband and I just went to a wedding in New York and stayed at the Excelsior Hotel on the upper west side.We thought it would be a nice boutique hotel. The lobby is o.k. Has a very old world classy look to it. There is one person at the desk who doesn't really care if you're there. There is...

This hotel is very well situated in Upper Manhattan close to subway and a deli. It is also good for walking in Central Park and several museums. However our room was very small. Bed was comfortable and bathroom functioned well. No free wifi in room but available in lobby. Would probably not stay again as there are better deals around.

We stayed at The Excelsior from December 12-15, 2013. We weren't greeted by the front desk - we had to wait until he was finished typing on his computer - but we were upgraded to a superior room, so I can overlook that. The superior room had a sitting area connected to the bedroom by french doors. The view was...

The hotel is across from the Natural History Museum, close to Central Park and a couple of subway stations. There is a great restaurant "UNO's" down the street that has a wide variety of meal options and they also do delivery. On previous reviews I read about "Andy's Deli" saying how good it was and I can definitely confirm that....
