After trying to book a hotel room with two beds near NYU on various travel websites, I had almost given up (rooms either were not available or were way outside my family's travel budget). Then I contacted the Washington Square Hotel directly and found that rooms were indeed available and were very reasonably priced. When we got arrived, we were...

Room was excellent, staff was very helpful, breakfast was more than adequate. No real need for the subway since we could walk almost everywhere we wanted to go. Stayed three nights , but will consider again for longer stays in the near future.

My daughter and I stayed for five nights. The staff was wonderful. They helped with dinner recommendations, car services and ideas for things to do around town. Thank you to Charles and Beverley for making our stay extra enjoyable. The rooms are small but since we didn't spend much time there it was perfect.

I choose this hotel because my daughter had an audition for NYU and I wanted a hotel within walking distance. This hotel the perfect choice. The first thing my daughter mentioned was that it has a "Great Gatsby" feel to it. It was an older hotel, with charm. I was impressed with how clean our room was, even though it...

Well situated just off Washington Square and reasonably quiet. Good quality bed and decent bathroom well stocked with towels and stuff for bathing. Heating in room efficient and quiet. No noise from adjacent room. Coffee capsule machine in room. Staff and lobby helpful. Feels like a small hotel. Room rate includes free and good wifi and a buffet breakfast room,...

This hotel is perfect for those who are interested in staying near Washington Square Park and are not picky about room size. The continental breakfast is more than adequate and the location was perfect given that my meetings were mostly in the SoHo area. However, my room was barely big enough for one and while my bed was very comfortable,...

What a great find. I have stayed in big chains on past trips to the city. Wanted something different this time. Was a holiday trip for my daughter who had just turned 21. The staff had a bottle of champagne and a card upon arrival and upgraded. All of them were very nice and helpful with recommendations. So nice to...

We stayed here for New Year's eve, we didn't stay a long time but it was a nice home based. The staff was extremely nice and the room was very average but comfy. Very old furniture but characteristic. We even found out the breakfast was included ;) The location is perfect, right next to Washington square park which is amazing...

This was our 3rd trip to NYC, and prior to this, we had chosen chain hotels (Hilton Garden Inn, Fairfield Marriott) due to finding deals on travel websites. For this jaunt, we wanted to stay away from chain hotels and opt for a more local feel. The Washington Square Hotel was the perfect option. If you're looking for a cookie...

Normally a hotel i could not afford. But got a good deal on a prepay close to my arrival , and i suspect the low price was also due to the fact that Waverly place was a mess with construction. paid $210. per night before tax. So my review is from that perspective. The staff is very friendly to you,...

Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighbourhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighbourhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighbourhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
