We needed a place last minute for our recent family trip to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and the entire hotel staff was fabulous except the service from the waiter at brunch. Very friendly and helpful with luggage to getting a cab etc. Will definitely stay here again on our next visit to the city. The location was convenient and... More

Intercontinental Barclays is definitely the best among its neighboring hotels (Waldorf Astoria, Marriott and Lexington) and is much better than Intercontinental Times Square. It looks like it was renovated not long ago and boasts wide and well-lit corridors, spacious and clean rooms with up-to-date facilities and (that is extremely important to me) really nice bathrooms. The hotel location is also... More

I stayed for 3 days in this hotel over thanksgiving holiday . The location is the best in the town.close to where you can find the best brands and shops. I am so disappointed and i have yet to arrive. I am due at the hotel 30th nov and today discovered that there are no bath tubs in the "luxurious expanded bathrooms". I hate showers and would not have stayed here had i realised but to an english person a luxurious bathroom means one with a tub and a shower.... More

We stayed here for a week and we had an incredible stay. Everyone went an extra mile since we arrived, we had an early flight and the Front Office/Housekeeping team were able to accommodate an early check in! Ann Mara and Arthur were exceptional and made our stay very memorable. We upgraded to the Club Lounge which was an incredible... More

I am an Intercontinental Ambassador level guest having stayed at many of their hotels around the world with The Barclay having been a reliable, if tired, place to hang one's hat when in NYC. I just spent two nights there in a Premier King Room at $369/night and found that, though the renovated and redesigned rooms are much better, whoever... More

Stayed here over the Thanksgiving holiday. They let us check in at 630 am after the redeye flight, which was a life saver. Got to shower and nap. Classy room, marble bathroom, all high quality. One block from a passageway to Grand Central, and a couple of blocks away from the E line subway. Just as good as the Waldorf... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Since first opening its doors in 1926, the InterContinental New York Barclay has welcomed countless guests to enjoy a luxurious residential-style experience in the heart of the city. Originally constructed as part of the Grand Central Terminal expansion, The Barclay became one of four notable railroad hotels built to service the well-heeled men and women travelling to New York City. Its convenient location, directly above the railroad tracks, permitted the hotel the unique distinction of having its own platform in the basement, ideal for the upscale rail traveler who occasionally arrived by private train car. In addition to its Midtown East location, the hotel made an immediate impact with tenants and critics alike for its characteristic atmosphere of comfort and elegant domesticity. From that moment, The Barclay began to write its history as the hotel of choice for those looking to take respite in this stately residential hotel of international prestige. Today, the InterContinental New York Barclay remains Manhattan’s preeminent luxury hotel after undergoing the most ambitious restoration in its history. Combining sophistication and contemporary design, while staying true to its original Federalist style details, The Barclay exudes confidence and warmth, delivering the same residential feel with modern comfort and flexibility introduced to the world in 1926. ... more   less
