Horrible. I checked in the hotel, the front desk lady made a weird face. The vibe of the hotel is so negative. The staff service is terrible. I was checked in in a room with wet paint and when I came down to change room, she moved me to lower floor. The room was very unhygienic. Hairs in the shower, stains on toilet seat and finding used empty water bottles in the room. I requested if my room can be cleaned again to which no answer was provided. They said the manager will check your room. I came back after 2 hours but it was still dirty. The alarm in the room start 4 in the morning. Anyways during checkout the conversation was so limited. “Checking out?” “Room No” I asked to store my luggage to which that lady said go over there and talk to bell desk guy. In the evening when I came back to take my luggage as I was leaving for airport and my Uber was waiting outside, the bell desk guy took so long. He took ticket from me and stopped at front desk, talking and giving fist bumps to his colleagues. I was surprised with the level of service. Staff doesn’t even apologize rather they look at you like they are doing a favour on you. I would never ever recommend this hotel to anyone. And I have stayed from four points to Ritz, and I can definitely say this was one of the worst experience. Highly disappointed with the brand.

Hotel's Favourite
I wrote the GM directly about my stay, but I'll say it again here. Everything was PERFECT. This is incredibly rare, but I have no complaints. This hotel really gets the guest experience and how to take care of their elites. I was upgraded to the best room type available (junior suite) with amazing views of the Freedom Tower. I was asked if I wanted a late checkout without having to inquire, I was told of all of the amenities in great detail too. Every staff member I encountered was very pleasant and I felt like they went above and beyond to make sure my stay was perfect. I cannot say enough good things. My wife and I did a staycation here and will not hesitate to do another again. HIGHLY recommend this hotel.

I had an excellent stay at the New York Marriott Downtown. The staff was exceptionally acccommodating-providing both an early and late checkout. Everyone encountered was friendly and helpful. Location is great. Room was nice and comfortable. Restaurant was good and convenient, and a Starbucks in the building too. It was really just a great stay and can’t thank them enough.

I am a 400+ night Marriott member. This is, without question, the worst Marriott property I have stayed at. How? Let's count the ways. Rooms: this room felt dirtier than one in a Motel 6. Stains on bedsheets. Roaches literally crawling onto you while you're lounging on the bed (this we saw with our own eyes). Bedbugs, as inferred from the telltale linear bite marks. When we reported these issues to the hotel after the stay, they claimed to have done an inspection that revealed no pest issues. That is an amusing finding given that we literally had to kill and flush a roach down the toilet during our stay. Breakfast: the breakfast venue, in "Bill's Bar and Burgers," had a 20 minute wait on day 1 of our stay and a 45+ minute wait on day 2 of our stay. This for a breakfast buffet that I would rate as Residence Inn quality (not a ding on Residence Inn; in fact, there you can get the same breakfast without waiting in line a single minute). Staff: the rudest Marriott staff I have seen anywhere in the world across 400+ nights. Every interaction with the front desk staff was brusque and dismissive. You would not want these people staffing a McDonald's, let alone a full-service Marriott. The only noticeable exceptions were the restaurant waiters, who were impressively courteous for being as overworked and understaffed as they were. Overall: So many Marriott properties in NYC: whatever you do, just don't choose this one.

Dear beeaed, Thank you for the feedback about your stay. We are sorry for the cleanliness issues you encountered in your room and have shared your concerns with our housekeeping team so that they can take the necessary steps. As discussed earlier, our pest control provider checked the room you occupied and did not find any evidence of bedbugs. We follow the most rigorous industry standards when it comes to pest control of our accommodations, and the room in question will be treated as a precaution. We also apologize for the unsatisfactory service you received and will address your concerns appropriately. Thank you again, and we hope to welcome you back for a much-improved visit. Best Regards, David Sharkey General Manager

For me, choosing to book this Marriott for five nights was I guess growing up in a way - I really would have liked to book something more exciting/trendier, even closer to great places to go out, with more personality....but with a young child, larger spaces, reliability, and amenities won out. And it worked out pretty well in the end. Location right next to WTC site, close to #1 & countless other subway lines...Wall Street, Battery Park City, etc works pretty well as a tourist. Yes, you're not on the LES or in Williamsburg, but you're also away from the congestion of Times Square, Midtown. There are countless places to walk to for decent dinners. Room was as expected quite spacious - was (slightly) upgraded to a view corner room. Nice windows looking west to Jersey City and south downtown. Other than that - it was very standard Marriott. You can tell it wasn't new and a tiny bit rough around the edges, but comfortable and clean. On some levels I'm not sure how I feel about a lounge in the/one of the greatest restaurant, bar cities in the world...but it was good for kid's food? Seriously, food quality was better than other domestic Marriotts, Sheraton - multiple hot choices in evening, decent fruit for breakfast, a solid Starbucks coffee machine. And similar views to our room. I know amenity fees are the norm now in NYC & elsewhere, but really...why? You can tell me Bill's Burgers earned some awards in 2013, but if I really wanted to go there - couldn't I go myself anyways? The $25 daily non-accumulating credit seems designed to annoy; usable at Bill's, the 20-SKU mini-mart next to the lobby (think only snacks & beverages that were available 1980 or earlier...M&Ms, Skittles, Snickers, Dorritos + Coke, Sprite, Water + a handful of medication), or the lounge for alcohol. The other inclusions 1x/stay - laundry ($15, eg, not 2 pieces of clothing), Citi Bike (have to request a code), tour of some sort - all seem somewhat hard to use. Honestly - just raise the rates $25, and I'd be less annoyed. Beyond that, service was a question mark overall. Hotel's main entrance had a set of ~4 stairs, and hotel staff seemed committed to ignoring me carrying up a stroller each time. Lounge staff was extremely talkative and trying to help. Room was still cleaned daily, and did a good job with a heavily occupied room. Overall, don't stay here if you want exciting, to be in the beating heart of Manhattan....stay here if you need an easy place to rest within the city with decent amenities. It's kind of like a Marriott anywhere...

Quick one-night stay visiting our son in Brooklyn. The location is great – at the foot of the somber but striking 9/11 Memorial. Was able to run along the Hudson on paths just a few blocks from the hotel. Took a bit of a long walk to Little Italy for dinner at Da Nico Ristorante. Room was fabulous. Great view of World Trade Center and lower Manhattan. Clean, comfortable. Breakfast and drinks at the hotel’s Bill’s Bar & Burger. Recommended for trips to this part of NYC.

The New York Marriott Downtown is a great choice if you’re looking for something a little less chaotic than you find in most of NYC. The location is great for Ground Zero, Wall St, and Statue of Liberty and even waking the Brooklyn Bridge. As an Ambassador Elite, I was upgraded to a corner room with panoramic views of the Statue of Liberty and the Hudson River. It’s probably the best city view I’ve ever had. Everything was recently redone, so no complaints with the room. I was there on the weekend so the lounge was closed and had to eat breakfast in the restaurant attached to the hotel, which was just okay. The gym was great and well equipped for anyone looking to get a solid workout in. I’d definitely stay there again.

If you desire a luxury, peaceful and safe visit to NYC, stay at Marriott Downtown. Phil the helpful valet offered to park our car, or save some money by self parking at a nearby garage. Lobby was quiet and modern. Starbucks and Bills Burger Pub in lobby area. Mortonś directly accross street. All the staff were kind and accomadating. We asked for connecting rooms as we had our 16 and 20 yr old son. We prefer low floor in the event of emergency, fast, quick climb down stairs (it happens in nyc folks!) We were placed in rms. 608/609. Gorgeous, renovated huge corner room with large windows and modern finishes. Our adjoining room was equally modern and serene. It was like a little private oasis. Never heard a peep on our floor the entire 3 nights And our housekeeper was so friendly and attentive! The location to Battery Park, Ferries to Statue of Libery/Ellis Island, Wall street and the 911 Memorial were literlly steps from the front door. Perfect family getaway for diserning traveler not interested in touristy times square or midtown area. Although uber can get you to midtown very quickly. All around perfect stay. Would not stay anywhere else in NYC!

We always stay at the Marriott Downtown when we visit NYC. Sometimes I come solo and always feel safe, comfortable and happy at this hotel. I typically have a “knock your socks off” view of the Hudson. We are using car share services to get around these days due to safety concerns with the subway. Getting to the theaters and museums is about $35 each way. Small price to pay for being in such a safe place. Don’t expect ultra-luxury but a very clean, nice, quiet, comfortable room near the site of the World Trade Center with good restaurants nearby (especially in TriBeca). Lots of families were here on our stay this July 2022z
