Quite nice location very close to WTC, with subway within walking distance. As titanium status member i received better room and lounge upgrade. It means breakfast (quite poor) and non alcoholic drinks. Evening alcoholic drinks has to be purchased anyway and was not free. Strange policy. And no evening buffet except come cake. Room was well maintained and clean. The worst experience was at the end of our 7 day stay. It appeared that we were charged for something called “destination fee” over 70$ a day without any warning!!! For some additional services like tickets to NYC attractions, city bike credit or dry cleaning!! And we never used any of it!! Maybe if we knew about this additional charge we would. Beware, because they will place additional charges on your account without any warning.

Dear Maciej Z, Thank you for choosing to stay with us and for taking the time to share your experience. We are pleased to hear that we impressed you initially, but we're sorry that we fell short of meeting all of your expectations during your stay. We introduced our destination fee in response to the many requests we received from our guests to bundle our resort-style amenities. To provide significant value, we must pass this cost on to all guests. We encourage each and every one of our guests to take full advantage of these amenities. We appreciate your feedback and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back soon. Best Regards, Patricia Franco General Manager

What a fantastic time we had at this hotel. The view from our room was fabulous with a grand sweeping view of the Hudson. The beds, as always in a Marriott, were so comfortable. The hotel staff were lovely, very friendly but professional. It was a perfect location for us, close to good food, WTC, financial area and battery park. All in all, a perfect stay and we will definitely return. :)

Arrived at the premises, Titanium Elite Membership Status has been recognized, early check-in and late checkout was offered without hesitation, destination fee, and additional benefits made the stay even more pleasant. Room, with Hudson View was stunning, especially after a long haul flight (over 16 hrs non stop), absolutely necessary to having a quiet atmosphere, and cosy, comfortable room. Gym and grounds have been exceeding expectations, however, 2 treadmills have been out of order. Will definitely stay again and liked the stay

I stayed here 6 nights and all in all it was a good stay. The property is well maintained , the room clean, the location perfect. The lounge on the 38 floor offers amazing view with super friendly staff. BUT there were a few things that bothered me and kept me from giving this hotel 5 *: Reception : the reception staff doesn’t even smile. They do their job “ by the book” ( sometimes even less….). There is no welcome feeling or any sense of appreciation to the fact that we are loyal Marriott Platinum members. On our last day we were lucky to meet James the manager who helped improve our feeling. Lounge: closed -shut from Friday ( after breakfast ) until Sunday afternoon. You can’t even go in to get water or coffee. If you are entitled to breakfast you are given a voucher to the restaurant located inside the hotel ( but not part of the hotel) where they offer a buffet that was not too attractive ( to say the least) and poor unfriendly service so we simply went out for breakfast .

This is a great hotel. Very clean. Rooms are updated. Electrical outlets next to both sides of the bed. Room is very large, especially for NYC. Good location. We didn't feel like there were any comprises like we have experienced at other hotels after the pandemic. Concierge lounge was classic and so nice to look out at the Statue of Liberty while enjoying breakfast.

I booked New York Marriott Downtown with high expectations based on good reviews at TripAdvisor generally, especially about the Concierge Lounge. Unfortunately, I was treated badly after asking the Front Desk about certain details of the Destination Fees. A young lady at the Front Desk became unfriendly and uncooperative. I later found out she also deliberately gave me incorrect and harmful information. I could not remember her name but the experience was not good and reflected badly on Marriott. Her male “supervisor/manager” should know the name of this young lady because he was around and came to the Front Desk when I asked questions in the evening of 6 or 7 August 2023. He gave me some feeble excuses about the hotel’s shortcomings. Breakfast at Concierge Lounge was reasonable, except that hot items were not consistently hot. I would avoid the tasteless, rubbery and sometimes cold scramble egg and bacon in the morning. Evening hors d’oeuvres was so bad that I didn’t not return after the first evening. Overall, New York Marriott Downtown let me down and I do not see any good reason to return.

We travelled as family with a friend, and I picked this location due to its laidback environment - not chaotic like Times Square. The place is clean, rooms are clean and smelling fresh and it is so close to everything. Will be staying here again!

It's been 30 years since I've stayed downtown and I chose this hotel based on rate and its proximity to a hotel where friends from Canada were staying. As a Marriott Titanium Elite member, I'd asked for an early check in and once I arrived at the hotel around 10 AM I was pleased that the desk associate was able to find me a room. Side note: while walking to the taxi line at Penn Station, an oblivious 20something, with her face buried in her phone, managed to trip me, causing a fall. Of course she never bothered to turn around but some random stranger helped me up. Anyway, when I told the associate about my fall, she found me a room on the same floor as an ice machine and gave me some ice bags so I could ice my knee but I digress. The first room was a nice king on the 24th floor with a view of the river, Jersey City (I used to work there and could see my old office building) and in the distance, Cape Liberty, NJ. The room had been nicely redone and featured a fridge, coffee maker and two bottles of water (complimentary). I noticed a bit of a musty/stale smell and asked the housekeeper if she could spray a bit of air freshener but it didn't help. I called the desk and a few minutes later, the bellman arrived with new keys and assisted me in moving up to the same room on the 30th floor, with no smell! Hooray! The room was very comfortable and clean. The bathroom is nice, and I liked the shower; however, it's rather dark and it probably would have been smart to install additional lighting near the shower. The lights around the mirror aren't bright enough. The hotel charges a $25 amenity fee which includes a few things, one of which is a $25 food & beverage credit. That's easy to eat or drink though in the restaurant or lounge. I chose another credit as my welcome amenity and since the concierge lounge is closed on weekends, I was able to have breakfast in the morning. The buffet was a typical Marriott buffet, though on the small side, much like what you'd find in the concierge lounge, as opposed to the usual breakfast buffet served in many hotels. The eggs were lukewarm as were the potatoes. You had to ask for toast, and the server never did bring my coffee. I asked 2 other people before it arrived. Also, I was not offered juice and honestly, the entire meal was a huge disappointment. I would suggest NOT dining there. I liked that the hotel is only about 2 blocks from the 9/11 Memorial and also from Oculus and the shopping area that houses Eataly where I had dinner. It is about a 20 minute or more cab ride (depending on traffic) from Penn Station but the hotel is in a nice area and I felt safe walking a bit in the evening. There are several restaurants around and some shops but since this is a more business area, many things were closed on weekends. The hotel does have an actual Starbucks so you can place a mobile order from your room, and then head down in the elevator to pick it up! I'd stay again if I wanted to be in the financial district again. Much quieter than Times Square. The staff were all very nice except in the restaurant (though the bartender in the lounge was very nice) and the room was clean and comfortable. Yes, this is a basic cookie cutter Marriott and it's nothing really special but I did enjoy my stay and will be back sooner than 30 years next time!

Dee Dee from the upstairs lounge was amazing! She was so helpful and kind to me. She went out of her way to come in early and make me a parfait before I checked out at 4am. She is what makes Marriot my favorite place to stay!!
