The Park Central Hotel New York offers a contrasting atmosphere, blending modern touches with outdated elements, and some guests appreciate the hotel's efforts to recognize special occasions despite noise and maintenance challenges. Cleanliness varies, with spotless experiences for some, yet others report inconsistencies. The amenities garner mixed feedback, as cleanliness and comfort are highlighted, but the absence of certain in-room features and slow elevators are drawbacks.
The hotel's location is a highlight, with easy access to Central Park and Times Square, though noise levels can be disruptive. Room conditions are a point of contention, with maintenance and outdated decor issues mentioned, and service quality ranges from commendable to disappointing, amplified by long elevator waits.

Hotel's Favourite
We've stayed at this hotel 4 times, and its the best value for money if what you are looking for is location and comfort. This last stay was particularly good because the people at the hotel were very kind to accommodate my needs, especially the guest experience manager Betty McKenzie. Since there is no kitchenette or fridge in the room, and I need it to refrigerate something and then had it warm up each morning, she offered me a kettle and a mini fridge, which totally took care of my need. On top of that, I wrote to the hotel the day before, telling them that due to my flight being canceled, I was now arriving on an earlier flight which meant I was to arrive at the hotel at 6 am, without being able to sleep at all the previous night; Betty was extremely nice finding a room for me to check in at that moment so I could sleep at my arrival; in order to do that, she upgraded me to a better room which was the one available at that time. She really went out of her way to help me with everything, and that made all the difference.
At the time of my stay, they were doing maintenance on the elevators so only 1 was working but I never waited more than 5 minutes.

Eugedelos, your repeat visits to Park Central Hotel New York and the heartening words you've shared make us incredibly proud! We're glad to know you've found our location convenient and our accommodations comfortable. It's also pleasing to note that Betty McKenzie, our guest experience manager, made your stay memorable by attending to your needs promptly. We also understand the importance of feeling looked after, especially when plans change unexpectedly, and we're pleased to hear that Betty was able to assist in turning your early arrival into a positive experience with a room upgrade. As for your mention regarding the elevator situation, we're working on providing smoother and more efficient services. Your patience during this time is much appreciated. We are eagerly awaiting your fifth visit, and until then, we hope you carry only the pleasant memories of your stay with us!

Had a great time in New York & fortunately most out & about.
Check in, credit card required for 40 dollars per night, more than tui had on booking so taking it up with them.
Lobby shows what a grand place this was when built as it must be just the same, everywhere clean just refurbishment is essential. Carpet in the breakfast lounge is much like your parents in 70’s just theirs has been replaced several times & this had lots of use & everywhere is the same.
To eat here is extremely expensive maybe no more than comparable hotels but quality has to reflect that, $80 for breakfast is just too much.
We were on the 24th floor & it was noisy if your a light sleeper try & get a higher room.
When you check in they tell you that you’ve got $40 to spend in the hotel, two coffees & muffins costs @20 so it’s just a ploy to get you to spend more than your $40 trying to get it back.
Make sure the $40 comes off your bill when you check out as they’ve already got your credit card & want to charge it to that.
Excellent position for what we wanted to do, staff pleasant & everywhere was clean.
Never a 4* in our opinion maybe we’ve been lucky elsewhere, suggest the hotels stop saying services are included when clearly they’re not otherwise there would be no need for mandatory charges. Just charge it to the tour operator then we’d all know at the beginning.

I found this hotel through a quick online search and was expecting a 3 star experience that would have sufficed our quick Manhattan trip. We were pleasantly surprised at this hotel. Beautiful lobby, clean entry way and quick friendly staff got us checked in rapidly. We had a two queen bed room and it was huge. The bathroom was large and full of nice fluffy towels and the most amazingly scented soaps, body washes and lotion. The TV had tons of options and you can checkout directly from the account screen. This was a great choice for a nightly stay under $100 and we will certainly be back on our next trip!

Most egregious was returning to my room after a full day of sightseeing on January 1 at 6 pm, only to discover that my room had not yet been cleaned. Reaching Housekeeping on the room telephone, I was told they would send someone ‘right away’ to clean my room. I vacated the room so as not to hinder the staff and returned an hour later, only to discover the room was not ready. Calling Housekeeping again, I was told they had had a busy day but my room was ‘next’. Again, I left the room, this time taking a short nap in the lounge, since my family had intended to try another venture out before we left the next day. This time, however, before going upstairs to my room - since my knees were painful - I asked Guest Services to call Housekeeping. Again, I was assured I was ‘next’. Close to tears, I called my family to regretfully inform them I could not go with them. ANOTHER HOUR, yup. This time Head of Housekeeping explained that due to the number of checkouts they had been overwhelmed but that also my room had been flagged ‘do not disturb’. I did NOT display the DND sign, nor was there one hanging on my door when I returned. I was then told that there was an email stating that. I did not send an email with that notice. I finally returned to a cleaned room at 11:30 pm, with a complimentary bottle of water Fr the inconvenience, just in time to pack and be ready for my 9:00 am pickup for the airport. There were other families also waiting for their rooms to be cleaned when I left the lounge at 11:30 pm.

+1
Good points are location and room cleanliness only (+ no bed bugs).
The room is small, dark and needs renovation. It’s stated 26 sq m, but seems smaller. It was on 8th floor but city noise didn’t bother us.
Most of all I was surprised that there’s no mini fridge in the room. Of course no minibar or even a bottle of water. Room amenities are very poor: there’s shampoo, conditioner and shower gel, but no cotton pads/buds, shower cap, toothbrushes, coffee machine, teapot or anything else. Although there’s a hairdryer and iron in the room.
I could clearly hear all noises outside and from the room next door.
Resort fee is 41 USD per night and includes WIFI use, fitness access, telephone use and “other services” which aren’t specified. No bottled water.

I stayed in New York City at the Park Central Hotel Friday and Saturday April 23rd and 24th. I was a little bit hesitant to return to NYC since the COVID 19 pandemic hit. But, this was such an amazing trip. I chose Park Central because of its proximity to Central Park. They have an amazing bike rental shop next door that gives a discount to Park Central guests. In addition, the rooms were completely safe with sealed stickers on the doors indicating that they have been cleaned and sterilized.
If you are a subway rider the N and the Q train have a stop literally 10 steps from the entrance of the hotel. This hotel is run like a large hotel chain, but totally gives the feeling of a boutique hotel when it comes to customer service and authenticity.
I will return this summer to the Park Central (that by the way... has an amazing gym). I was there on a work trip, but was able to spend time in Central Park, which might be the new Times Square post COVID. Now that restrictions are being lifted, I highly suggest that you try the Park Central!

Overall, a very nice hotel with an attractive lobby area and great location. You can see both Central Park and Times Square from outside the hotel. Our rooms were kept clean by the housekeeping staff. Coffee making facilities and fridges were available on request (however, nowhere to fill up water bottles according to front desk staff). We were able to check in early, which was a bonus.
However, there are a couple of drawbacks to this hotel. First and foremost, the elevator situation is shocking. There was only two elevators for floors 10 and up (another two for floors 1-9), which genuinely took ages to arrive. It was not uncommon to be waiting in excess of 10 minutes for the lift to arrive, only for there to be no room. Most days, you’d have to queue in the lobby waiting for a lift up to your room. It was so noticeable and frustrating, that it became quite the talking point with fellow guests in the queue, as we exchanged stories of how long we had waited!!
The rooms are also very dark and dingy, despite there being multiple lamps in the room. This is partly to do with the structure of the hotel, which means that most of the window view is taken up by brick walls. Although this wasn’t great, it didn’t bother us too much given the little time we spent in the room during the day.
Given the fact that you have to pay an extra facilities fee of just over $40 per room per night, perhaps they could use some that money to sort the lifts out, or maybe install a water fountain.
With this said, I would stay there again - mainly due to the great location.

We chose this over a few places closer to Times Square because it was significantly less expensive. It turned out that the rooms were very nice (we appreciated that the beds in our room were queen rather than double, which worked better for our family of four). The location, while not in the middle of Times Square, was a short walk from there, and was right on top of a subway entrance that gave us easy access to the rest of Manhattan. The gym was very nice. The elevators are a bit slow, and crowded at check out time. But for the amount this place was cheaper than some of the similar alternatives, it was well worth it.

This hotel was recommended to me by my daughter who had stayed there more than once. It's a reasonably priced hotel, with the ambience of a basic Luxury Hotel, in a sea of overpriced accommodations near Central Park South and Rockefeller Center.
Before my trip, I contacted the manager to inquire about several tax and other fees tacked onto the Room Charges, mostly mandated by the city. I immediately received an email from Tony Cunaj, the Complex Director of Reservations, that was welcoming and informative. Tony offered to upgrade my room and provide a senior discount, although I only just qualify for the latter. Although I opted not to use my credit card rewards, he was also willing to make an exception in my booking to allow me to use them towards my bill. Tony certainly earned my loyalty and deserves a commendation from whomever he reports to as an asset to the hotel.
The hotel bellman, Jaime, met me upon my early arrival and stored my baggage without delay. The hotel is nicely appointed and has a large bar and meeting area behind the lobby desks that was ideal for spending time with family. I found the room very clean, quiet and comfortable with a nice view. Although there isn't a restaurant on premises, there's a Starbucks for morning coffee adjacent to the hotel and plentiful dining options nearby within a block or two.
Jett, who I met at the Concierge Desk, was especially helpful in locating a Chinese restaurant for a large party with my special request for a dish I hadn't been able to find.
I highly recommend Park Central for its location, price and warm hospitality.

Park Central is a perfect location for those who want to enjoy Central Park. Times Square and Rockafeller center are a 10 - 15 minute walk.
The rooms are relatively spacious for NYC. Ours had two Queen beds a large bathroom with tub and a desk & chair. Room was clean.
Shampoo, conditioner & body wash are mounted to the wall in pump bottles. I like this rather than tiny little bottles.
We requested a fridge and was brought one straight away.
They charge a resort fee which is ridiculous as this is not a "resort". We didn't see or receive anything to justify that fee. Just include all fees in the total up front price.

Dear magmid, We appreciate your comments regarding the size, cleanliness, and location of our hotel. I'm pleased to learn you appreciate our "go green" efforts regarding the refill guest room bottles (They also pay homage to the original CO Bigelow NYC store). We apologize for any challenges caused by way of our hotel fee. The items including the bottles of water at check-in, the additional masks and safety items to be used at your discretion, the local area discounts offered, etc.. are all-inclusive of the fee. Perhaps we failed on communicating that effectively during our check-in process and will certainly make that a focus for our team. We look forward to welcoming you back for a future visit. Be well and be safe. Erik Palmer Managing Director
