Having stayed in a Relais & Chateaux - Hotel Wailea in Maui on our first left of the trip - this hotel shouldn't be mentioned in the same class. Fantastically comfy bed however a hotel in need of a face lift. There's authentic classic NYC and then there is tired. My only other stay in Manhattan was the Ritz Carton...

We have been staying at The Surrey since before the renovations. We love the location away from the hustle and bustle of 5th avenue. We enjoy walking in the park which is at the end of the street. Room service is great and so is the spa. Most of all, we love the staff. They are very professional amd extremely...

The perfect hotel for discriminating travelers wanting quiet elegance and flawless service. Located close enough to places people staying in hotels of this caliber want, and far enough from the noise and mobs of less "out of the way" hotels.

Stylish boutique hotel, upper east side, one block from Central Park. Easy walk to great restaurants and shopping, fantastic location. Excellent service by all staff for our three night stay. Our Studio suite with private outdoor terrace 16th floor, was so gorgeous, spacious and extremely comfortable. Views were great. We looked forward to staying in this hotel and had great...

Usually our go-to place when we visit NYC. We love the hotel and the area but after a 4.5 hour drive, to not have the room ready at the time it's supposed to be is not cool. I hope things will get better.

My husband was in hospital for spinal/neck surgery a hotel that said they would help me did not and they charge if you use a tissue in the room I truly want a refund for Saturday. All I did was try to sleep there in the loud room that sounded like I was out on the street.

This hotel in NYC does not meet the standards expected of a Relais and Chateau hotel. We reserved months ahead a quiet room away from elevators and ice machines only to told on arrival that rooms were allocated on the day of arrival. The first room offered even after reminding reception was a room next to the ice machine and...

Lovely upper east side boutique hotel one block from Central Park, close to Met and great shopping. Front desk, doormen, maids, valet in room dining all executed with friendly, personal service. Not impressed with breakfast service in restaurant. Came down for coffee as spouse was asleep. Lobby coffee was out so went to dining room for coffee service. Room was...

Great for couples, top notch. Just a great hotel in a great neighborhood, perfect for quick stays particularly in the summer. A little pricey, so better for couples than for families. But definitely recommended overall.

I booked a room for one night at The Surrey after reading wonderful reviews on TripAdvisor. I had a work engagement until 11pm and was exhausted when I checked in. Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
