The Surrey is a beautiful boutique hotel in a great location. The lobby was edgy without sacrificing comfort. We were greeted but friendly and efficient front desk staff who checked us in and got us our keys and I was in our room within 5 min. The room was spectacular. Very roomy (rm 1504) with great views from the windows....

A wonderful hotel, but some key flaws in the restaurant. Our breakfast came with a very cold basket of bread; the eggs benedict had almost no hollandase sauce and the egg yolks were hard. Very little attention was paid to refreshing coffee. The gym is small but okay. And, trying to get them to hold a room or room category...

My only regret about staying at The Surrey was that I only stayed one night. It was one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in. Traveling by myself, I felt very safe at The Surrey. I loved the more residential neighborhood. It's an easy walk from the hotel to the Metropolitan Museum. Central Park is right outside the...

Dear Guest, Thank you for the superb review, and I am delighted to hear you had such a wonderful experience at the Surrey. I am equally happy to hear that you would stay no where else other than the Surrey. I agree that our location offers a more composed alternative to Central Park East, with all the grandeur of Manhattan’s...

Hi end shoppers dream with every designer who is anyone (and a few others!) having a boutique store right there. Between Madison/5th, close to The Met Mueseum of Art, Neue and Central Park, seriously amazing location, across the Street is the John Frieda/Serge Normant salon, even at $300 a cut/blow dry, Jefferey is worth it. A wonderfully, funny very talented...

We keep coming here because it's just so wonderful. Hard to imagine staying anywhere else. Came here this time to run a half marathon in Central Park (this hotel, btw is ideally located to Central Park and if you bring your pup, it's a great location) I'm thrilled that they keep the same staff every time we've visited --I have...

The Surrey is by far the best hotel in NYC. Our second stay was just amazing, the service, the room size, location, etc. The Surrey goes above and beyond with all the little things to make it feel custom. Just top notch management and service. Large room sizes and just all around AWESOME!

We have stayed at the Surrey many times and have never been disappointed. The hotel has a warm, lovely feel and the rooms are beautiful. Additionally, the staff is outstanding. They are friendly and aim to please. The Surrey is our home away from home when we visit New York City.

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
