Being a bit of a history buff, I've always wanted to stay at the Algonquin Hotel, home of Dorothy Parker and the Viscious Circle. Our room did not disappoint. We did move from a higher level to a lower one, same floorplan, because the ac was broken (critical in summer NYC). That did make me think, though, that if you...

Just stayed at the Algonquin Hotel in NYC, best hotel I have been to since I started going to NYC 3 years ago. Small, intimate and oldest hotel in NYC, since 1902. The Algonquin is loaded with beautiful artifacts of days gone by, but with modern conveniences and amenities we all have come to expect and MORE!! The reason we...

Wow, I sure did expect more. This hotel seems very tired and in need of something. Coming to reception at 6pm, I needed to ring a bell to have someone come out - the person said she had been dealing with faxes. Then, I walked into the room and it smelled of mildew and mustiness, causing me to open the...

This beautiful hotel, which was newly renovated has such old world charm. The staff is just wonderful, from the desk to the dining room! We just celebrated our anniversary in the city and stayed overnight and had dinner and breakfast there. We will definitely be back in September.

Stayed at this hotel for the my birthday weekend in July. The staff is very friendly, from the doormen to the front desk, to the housekeepers. The room was small, but it didn't bother us since we expected that in NYC. It was very inviting, clean, and modern with a touch of old world class. The hotel is also within...

I spent 3 days at the Algonquin in early August 2013. Even if that is not easy to find good size room in NYC at reasonable price (I paid 600$ for three nights) the room I got was really the smallest I ever got! The service is just average and not easy to get a smile from anyone there! Let's...

Greetings and thank you for taking time to post your candid feedback regarding your recent visit to The Algonquin Hotel, located in the heart of Mid-town. The 110 year old hotel did close for 6 months in 2012 at which time it underwent an extensive guts to décor renovation, which has been very well received by the overwhelming majority of...

I visited New York City with my duaghter for her 20th birthday. We stayed at the Algonquin and it was terrific. So central to everything - Central Park, 5th Avenue, Times Square, Empire State Building and the subway. The staff was terrific - extremly friendly and helpful. I loved the atmosphere of the hotel even down to the small touches...

I stayed on the Algonquin for the first time on Jan. 2013. I have previously stayed at the Westin and other hotels by Times Sq. while in NYC. I booked this trip for my birthday weekend. I have stayed in NYC a couple of times, but of all the hotels I've seen, the Algonquin is definitely my favourite. Not only is the hotel situated on a fantastic location, a few minutes away from Times Square, 5th Av, and the Bryant Park subway: it also has a great, historical atmosphere and offers impeccable service. We stayed here...

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
