The Inn at Irving Place is a small boutique hotel in the Gramercy Park neighborhood of Manhattan. It is located in the lower third of the island and splits the difference between the east and west side, being just a couple blocks off Broadway. The best thing about this hotel is that it is in a quiet neighborhood, yet is...

This hotel is in an incredible location. Absolutely wonderful to be so close to Gramercy Park, the the East Village, to Union Square, but on a slightly quieter (for NYC) street. The staff was kind, gracious, and lovely. We enjoyed tea service in our room very much. We didn't enjoy how dark our room was; it was impossible to read....

After a cross-country flight, we were looking forward to a delightful, quiet evening at The Inn. This was our third visit (more on this below) and we were prepared for The Inn's quirky appeal. Who cares if the furniture bares a striking resemblace to second-hand store finds - or if the housekeeping is spotty, the shower squeaky? The young man...

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Unlike most NY hotels our room was very spacious. Plenty of room for cases and ample storage by way of wardrobe/drawers. Again, bathroom on the large size. Warm, friendly, helpful staff that couldn't do more to help. Boutique-y style of hotel, tastefully decorated. Great location. Basic continental breakfast available so best head out to one...

This is a quiet, seemingly unknown, unusual Inn. Immediately the staff made me feel relaxed and right at home. The room decor was fabulous and mix matched, adding to the intimate feel of the house. This is a traditional bed and breakfast with all the comforts of home in the heart of downtown Manhattan. An excellent location, just 1 block...

We had booked a junior suite with a king bed but when we arrived we were told our room had a queen bed. The woman who checked us in was very rude and had no excuse or apology for the wrong room. We were only staying one night and had no time to find another hotel. The worst part was...

It seemed appropriate on Election night to stay in a hotel that showed a bit of America's history and traditions. This is obviously not a huge flashy modern hotel, no pretenses - what you see is what you get, an older brown stone with few concessions to modern decor and design -interesting rooms with a lot of charm - I...

The hotel seems like a set from a Wes Anderson film: quirky! We stayed in a front room, Edith Wharton, that was large and charmingly furnished. However, the noise from the street was loud. The windows did not have triple pane glass; in fact, it was impossible to close one window at all; so the noise and cold drifted in...

It can be a bit difficult to find as there isn't a sign for the hotel, but once you step inside this renovated 150+ year old brownstone you feel like you are in a different place & time. The staff was extremely welcoming. All the stress from my long ride from LGA disappeared once I stepped inside the room as...

This inn is housed in a brownstone which has been renovated into a charming inn. Our room was huge and filled with the special touches that make this inn so unique. The bed was comfortable, the shower was tricky but once we figured it out, perfect. There are no elevators but the staff will take your luggage up (and down!!)...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Originally built in 1834, three single family brownstones sat at the corner of 17th and Irving Place. Over the years, the corner brownstone was torn down and a small apartment building was built in its place. The two remaining brownstones have stood the test of time, and they now create The Inn. While once combined as a single family home, the brownstones also housed everything from apartments, The Ingersol Mens Club, a Speak Easy, and a Beauty Parlor and Day Spa. After completion of a three year renovation, The Inn at Irving Place opened its door in December of 1994. ... more   less
