This was a dream to stay at this hotel. It is the most luxurious hotel that I have ever stayed at, and it's a shame it closing down so soon, as I would love to stay again. The main lobby area is lovely and a fine centre piece. All staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a deluxe...

just to honor so many important events in my life held here. The room was fine, service was excellent, and we enjoyed 16 hours in the room and wandering the halls before the place closes for the next three years. :(

Having stayed here previously, I thought it might be a good idea to stay here once more before when I heard its as closing - fortunately I had the chance to in my last New York trip. As many have said, the hotel does feel quite dated. While many say that this is the kind of experience you get at...

When we heard this place was closing, we had to visit her once more. We were there the last weekend. We understand it's being converted to condos. Supposedly, a "boutique" hotel will re-open. I hope they don't ruin the lobby, Peacock Ally, or the Bull and Bear. I don't know if the unions made the hotel less profitable than condos...

What an old beautiful, iconic hotel. We were upgraded and the room was very large and comfortable, with a sitting area and a nice city view. So glad I got to stay here before they renovated. They will be closed until 2020 and will be part luxury condos and part hotel when they are done. Hopefully, they will try to...

The Waldorf Astoria was the most disapointed experience we hade on our trip to New York, the rooms is NOT as shown, they need years ago to be upgraded, we stayed for one night ( came late night) and moved to another hotel Ritz Carlton. We explained to the front desk that this was not the standart shown on Hotels.Com...

A grand old lady who is now a little tired around the edges, but still oozes glamour and history. Stayed for four days in Feb. Had enormous bedroom, but definitely ready for a revamp - bathroom very dated. I did ask the staff what was happening /when reopening, but mixed messages received..... fingers crossed this wonderful hotel will be back!...

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
