The lobby is spectacular and the rooms have an old world charm. We have stayed several times and the only negative is some rooms have no view at all, I mean literally a brick wall. The rooms all have a high 10ft ceiling and you won't find many hotels that are more generous with the toiletries. They give two full...

I recently spent 5 nights at the Waldorf during a business trip. As always, the hotel was impeccable in every way. The room was outstanding, the staff was courteous and accommodating, and the experience was a true pleasure. A special acknowledgement goes to Jacqueline Grant in the Diamond Reception area. When you commit to paying $400 a night at a place as renowned as the Waldorf Astoria, you have a certain level of expectation. Unfortunately our expectations were dashed from the moment we arrived. The WA is great if you want to cross a hotel off your iconic NY landmark bucket list. The beautifully gilded art deco lobby and great midtown location are big pluses. Just keep in mind what others have said: rooms are well appointed but small, and showing signs of age. Staff is friendly and service is good, but no one...

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
