Was so nice to stay here for two nights whilst on a 3 week holiday to New York. The neighbourhood was very nice and lots of great shopping. A lot less busy that midtown New York. One block from Central Park and five minute walk to the Guggenheim and the met. Had a large room for great value. Comfortable beds...

We stayed here for spring break vacation. We pre-booked and pre-paid for a Carnegie Suite with a King Bed. The reason for this was because I have stayed at this hotel 6 times previously (for work) and I know the interior rooms are horrible. So I wanted to make sure we got the exterior room by pre-paying for it. It...

I've been coming to the Hotel Wales for a several years now. I have been patient about some of the lapses because I like the place but now, it has gone on for too long so, I feel it is only right to let travelers know that the hotel has lost much of its charm over the last few years....

If you are doing things in the Upper East Side in the '90s, this is the place for you. Small, intimate, great employees. Rooms are not typical -- they make you feel like you are in the 1940s in a good way. Great 2nd floor 24 hour tea and coffee room. Have at least one breakfast at the place attached...

Recommend this hotel highly for location and service. Have been to the hotel on three visits. The rooms are clean, the beds are very comfortable and the bathrooms have great showers. Some of the upper floor rooms look out into Central Park. There is an entrance directly into Sarabeths, known for great breakfasts and brunches, but also perfectly adequate for...

Excellent location, beautiful part of town within walking distance of the great museums. Had a reservation glitch with my booking service - but Catheryn at the desk made all problems vanish. We enjoyed the comfortable public areas on the second floor, sipping complimentary coffees and teas and enjoying the views.

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
