Detailed Reviews
I’ve been fortunate to stay at several Marriott hotels, all over the world, including different brands, and well as working for the company for a few years. Marriott/Ritz Carlton hotels have always been enjoyable, and my family always enjoy our stay.
In March of 2020, my stay was unfortunately not for vacation or business, but a time spent hoping for a miracle. I stayed at the Courtyard Marriott midtown east hotel with my husband, sister, and My 60 year old mom, who was ultimately given a last chance to beat stage 4 lung cancer, if accepted into a trial at Sloan Kettering hospital. To put it simply, the hardest year of my life, and after a few trips from DE to NY, she was not eligible for the trial. My heart was broken, my world seemed to completely turn upside down...and the person who kept me from “breaking”, was the most amazing front desk employee, Eunique Charles!
Every visit we chatted, and I felt welcomed when I entered the hotel and truly feel I had a friend I could talk to. Eunique was extremely professional with all the guests I saw her interact with, yet never made anyone feel as if she was simply doing her job. She sincerely made every guest feel welcome, and I personally felt she was a friend from the first time we talked.
She took time to help me figure out a complicated room booking, adjust the nights when our departure ended early, due to dismal from the trial, and made me smile and laugh out loud during a time when I cried a lot. The day I found out my mom did not qualify for the trial, Eunique could see the tears in my eyes as I entered the hotel. By the time I walked the 10 steps between the entrance and the front desk, she had taken off her gloves, made sure she had another staff member to cover the desk for 10 min. And simply said to me, let’s go for a walk. This “simple” gesture made a huge impact that I will never forget and forever be grateful. It was the relationship she built with the hotel guests, and her overall ability to connect with people, the qualities that separate the good from the great. She is certainly one of the great.
She is truly an amazing person, and Marriott is so lucky to have an employee who truly exceeded all my expectations and clearly understands what hospitality is all about.
I have never met an employee at any company as dedicated and so well rounded , as Eunique Charles. She is one of a kind, and Marriott is extremely fortunate to have her as a part of their team.
For anyone who stays at this hotel, I recommend it, and the staff is a big reason why.

We love the hotel, but the BEST part is the wonderful staff at the front desk. Axia, Mimi, Julissa, and Keisha are warm, friendly and efficient. They make every visit a pleasure and manage to find time to smile no matter how busy they are. The location is great too. It is a short walk to many midtown locations and there are restaurants at all price points within a block or two. Combine that with the great welcome, and you have a place to call home.

My wife and I were in NYC for a wedding and stayed at the Courtyard on 3rd ave on May 14-17. The location was very convenient ( a $40 cab ride from La Guardia) with nice food options nearby.
It was easily walkable to Time Square,Broadway, Central Park and MOMA.
The staff was excellent with check in and out a breeze.
The superstars were the housekeeping staff who did an outstanding job keeping the room cleaned(we are a bit messy) and all the amenities stocked.
I would absolutely recommend this location!

My (4) friends and I booked here because it was near all the good stuff.
Valet person was friendly but staff was poor.
First of all, I booked a room for 2 queen beds and a sofa bed. The young lady in the front said that they didn't have that room for me so she will "reimburse" in some way. She didn't clearly say what it was and she continued on saying that they have breakfast in the upper level and I thought that she told me that the breakfast would be paid for as reimbursement. Apparently not, because we had no proof that we would get a free breakfast and such.
Our hotel room was a handicapped room so it was larger than usual I guess but the door was all banged up with holes and one of the curtains was all ripped up. The blankets weren't exactly warm...
Breakfast was very expensive, we didn't know that there would be a Mcdonald's down the street which is our bad.
My friend had a situation where she paid for her orange juice and accidentally forgot it there for just a few minutes. She went to go get it and the lady had already cleaned up our table but when my friend asked for it she said she had already cleaned up so basically they just threw away her unopened juice...?
When we checked out, I asked the receptionist what our reimbursement was and she said that we would have gotten reimbursement if we had checked out at 3PM.
First of all, she did NOT tell us this that night we arrived. My friends and I just left pissed because of the situation.
All in all a very bad trip...
I didn't remember to take photos but if I went back in time I would. I was just trying to enjoy the New York trip for a night.

Good-sized room. AC not very good, either too cold or too warm. Not very soundproof. Room cleaning could improve, seemed like the floor carpet was not vacuumed at all during our week. Never had breakfast there, looked like Starbucks and there were nice places nearby. Reception staff not very knowledgeable, however one of the girls, who checked us in, was really nice and helpful. As was Angela, who after our check-in we saw cleaning other rooms. She brought us more towels as there were not one per person in our room. No curtains, only metal blinds, so you have to choose between not being able to look out and privacy.

The Eastside is not our normal NYC base {Chelsea, Westside is } but the Gold Elite price for a spacious {NYC standards} room w/sofabed reeled us in. The location is superb, everything is walkable from here. Not new but not too old. Clean and semi modern room and can get Netflix on their televisions. Luckily I has here for 21night on a Saturday. We drove up for the NYC Wine & Food Festival so I had two choices. Use their valet for $60-$75 or street parking. We chose the later due to after 7 on Saturday and all day Sunday no paying the meter for parking directly across the street from the hotel. No issue with street parking. Breakfast can be purchased on their 12th floor lounge but we opted for Starbucks directly across the street for a much better option and price point. Would stay again if had to stay on the east side of Manhattan.

This past weekend I visited the Courtyard Midtown while visiting family. Our hotel room was pristine and quite large. The large tv was perfect to play shows for my 8 month old daughter and the bed was big enough for us to both sleep comfortable. The windows provided a beautiful view of downtown Manhattan but the black out shades still allowed us to get tons of sleep. The staff was very courteous and made us feel like family plus the breakfast food on the 12th floor was divine. We can’t wait to visit again 🙂

Additionally our 12th Bistro team are true assets to our hotel; so happy to read that you enjoyed the food and accommodations offered on that level. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

We recently stayed during a five night visit with our family. The location was great for us. We were able to walk to Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Central Park, and plenty of great restaurant options. The hotel was also located near a subway entrance for access to the NYC subway. The room was plenty big for our family (two adults, two 9 year olds, and a 12 year old). Our family appreciated the large TV for relaxing before bedtime. The mini-fridge and coffee maker were just enough for us to eat a quick breakfast in the hotel before starting out for the day. The room was very clean and the staff was helpful and quick to assist when needing a few additional items in our room (blankets, towels, etc.) We stayed on the 28th floor and could barely hear the NYC street noise and the hotel noise was non-existent. In addition to being a great fit for our family and trip, the hotel was also one of the most reasonably priced that we found in Manhattan. The only con to the room I would say is that it seemed a little dark and could use more/brighter lighting. Overall, I would recommend this to anyone looking for a moderately priced, clean hotel with a great location in NYC.

We are so happy to know that for the most part you enjoyed your stay with us. We will look into this situation right away. We look forward to your future stay with us.

The Courtyard NY Manhattan East should be on everyone's "first choice" list of Manhattan hotels. It is on Third Ave and 53d, meaning it's location is ideal - close enough to everything but far enough away from the gridlock of midtown. The hotel was clean, well maintained and the front desk staff were pleasant and helpful. My room was larger than most NYC hotels and the lobby/cafe/lounge up on the 12th floor was a perfect place to relax. Oh, on top of everything else, the price was more than fair. Give it a try -you will not be disappointed.

Absolutely great location, very close to 2 subway stations giving quick access to the entire city. Friendly staff, who were always available to help (kudos to Aixa for helping us getting back to JFK earlier than originally scheduled). I was traveling with my kids and this was one of the few hotels in the city which accepted a reservation for 5 guests in a single room. With a McDonald’s less than 2 blocks away, it was easy to get them “dinner” by the end of the day when everybody was very tired. We skipped the hotel breakfast in the first days due to the vaccination card requirement for the kids and found Morning Star cafe about 3 blocks away on 2nd Avenue. Great menu, it became our breakfast location for the entire trip. Will definitely consider to stay here again next time in NYC!

Hello Patricia, We just returned today from 6 nights/7 day stay at this hotel. I think it is a great hotel & location for NYC. I talked with Sabrina at the front desk today-June 6th 2023 & she communicated there is no cost to receive a package. They will hold it until you arrive & to pick it up you just need to present identification. I hope that helps you...have a wonderful trip...Enjoy the space on the 12th floor for eating, reading, working, relaxing or visiting while others may be sleeping...Enjoy NYC...Kevin-Portland Oregon, USA
Yes ~ on the 12th floor there are rest rooms but I don’t remember any anywhere else. There’s also a gym ~ might be something there
An uber/taxi/lyft is the easiest way.
Hello Ema L,
You can always call our hotel to schedule a car to pick you up from your destination as they would need certain information to give the driver. I hope this helps.
