Paying homage to Evelyn Nesbit — the "it girl" of her era— Evelyn Hotel’s design showcases the Art Nouveau style of the early 1900s while featuring nods to the neighborhood’s music & art heritage that dates back over a century. Thoughtfully renovated rooms & suites include musically inspired accents and vintage furnishings. Three distinct dining concepts by local hospitality veterans, Ninepin, create a scene for every mood. Fuel your day with house-made pastries, creative sandwiches and craft coffee at Ninepin Café. Take it up a notch at The Tusk Bar, oyster & cocktail bar. For a full dining experience, enjoy a modern take on a French brasserie at BRASS. Set in the NoMad neighborhood, formerly historic Tin Pan Alley - the city's Jazz Age music epicenter – the hotel provides a central location for guests to immerse themselves in the neighborhood's vibrant culture and a proximity to iconic attractions like the Empire State Building, Flatiron and Madison Square Park.

Where to start....this hotel and staff are both exemplary both in style and service and deserve to be ranked up there with the best.

I booked a surprise trip for my wife's birthday (she had never been to NY before!) and from the very outset the service and communication I received was absolutely top class. Tiffany's help was absolutely fundamental in making our trip a success and nothing was too much to ask. From room selection to organising transport from / to JFK everything was done seamlessly. So much so that when we arrived it didn't feel like we were visiting a hotel, more like coming to visit friends.

The staff / employees in a hotel can make or break a hotels reputation, The Evelyn have the most caring staff and I am sure they are the reason that people visit regularly. We spoke to a number of guests who were on their second/third visit such was the 'comfort level' and care supplied.

The hotel itself is perfectly located and is in a very welcome 'quiet area' yet close enough to attractions to walk comfortably. Empire State being just 6 short blocks away and 5th Avenue right on the doorstep.

The hotel bar (TUSK) is an oasis of quiet and relaxation after a long day and is great for that nightcap to revive the tired body (and feet!) Again, great staff and small bijou restaurant that serves excellent food.

Rooms are clean, well equipped and have great showers, plenty of room to move around while singing the songs that are on the wall tiles !

Bed is soooo comfy and plenty of room to hang clothing as well as having spacious draws. All utilities such as Irons, hair dryer etc are in situ and a safe is also in the room.

The Evelyn is ranked very highly on Tripadvisor and rightly so. The little extra things really matter and are the difference between being a guest or being a friend invited to stay, I know which one we preferred!

Would we stay again? Definitely, in fact we are in the process of organising a return trip in November!

I don't know if hotel owners read these reviews? I hope they do! To you I say that if you have great staff (and you do), look after them , treat them well as they are the face of your business.

To Tiffany, Andre and all of the staff at The Evelyn a huge 'Thank You' from myself and Retta for making our visit so enjoyable and memorable. We will surely be back to see you soon!

Lots of love, John & Retta xxx

My son and I stayed for four nights and we chose this hotel due to location, amenities and cost. The front desk clerk J.J. greeted us warmly on our late arrival 11 pm on a Thursday night, assisting us with some details about food spots nearby.

The room was small, typical for NY, but very well organized. The most remarkable thing was the cleanliness! The decor of the hotel is deco and the thoughtfulness of the arrangement of hall decor, lobby and room accoutrements and detail is apparent.

I had looked at this hotel on a few booking websites, but ended up getting an amazing Black Friday deal directly though the hotel website itself, so the price was very competitive.

The beds were super-comfy, the shower was HOT with great water pressure. The TOWELS were thick, not flimsy like many hotels and we were also provided with cozy, thick bathrobes. I had requested a coffee maker and was provided with a Nespresso machine including all the pods and extras. While there was no dresser space, the closet was sufficient to store both of our clothing items, with shelves included for shoes. There was a safe for my laptop. There were many places to charge phones and plug in electronics and the WiFi was free with a great connection.

The only slight negatives was that I could hear the water running through the pipes during the night so if you are a light sleeper, like me, that could be bothersome. The other thing is the size of the bed side table to be shared by two. Aside from the one noise the hotel was very quiet. As we were on the 6th floor the street noise was minimized.

Downstairs, we took advantage of the delicious Lionelli Bakery for quick refreshments (and probably too many delicious Cannolis) and the lobby was constantly filled with people enjoying the space. The atmosphere in the lobby and bar was classy, upbeat and inviting.

The location was perfect. The neighborhood is fairly quiet at night and it is a few minutes walk to two different subway lines. We were close enough to many attractions without being in the crush of tourism. Since we walked so much we did not take advantage of the exercise room downstairs but the Evelyn does offer one.

Upon checkout, since we had a few hours before we needed to head to the airport, we checked our luggage with the concierge service. Every area of service in this hotel was outstanding. The front desk, housekeeping, concierge, restaurant employees all provided deliberate excellence and made us feel valued and welcomed.

I would definitely highly recommend the Evelyn and look forward to staying there again on my next trip.

Hi Gailishi, WOW! We can't thank you enough for such a thoughtful and glowing review of you and your son's stay with us! J.J. is such a joy to have a part of the Evelyn family, and I will be sure to pass along your kind words to him. I'm sure he'll be happy to know that you were impressed with his ability to make you feel so welcomed, especially so late at night. Also, our housekeepers are amazing, and work diligently to make sure that all rooms are spotless. They are the real superstars, and I'm thankful that you recognized them as well. Lionelli's Cafe is a must for me every morning, and I'm delighted to know that you enjoyed their coffee and pastries as much as we do! From check-in to check-out you had a stellar time and exceptional service, and we are overjoyed that we were able to help make this special time a wonderful for you and your family. We invite you to come back any time want, as our doors will be open for you and your family. See you next time! -De'Marcus

We have had family living in Queens during their medical residency, and so we have stayed at The Evelyn six times in the last four years while visiting. Their pricing has always been impressive (especially because we made a point to watch for their specials) and the location is fantastic, but more importantly, they simply do their jobs flawlessly. Door and desk service is prompt and gracious, the rooms are cozy as in small but cozy also as in...cozy places to be at night, and all areas of the hotel have always been spotless. The recent opening of the Leonelli restaurants has been a wonderful addition to our stays, and we very much appreciate the breakfast vouchers (as well as the cookies for purchase from the bakery). I cannot recommend The Evelyn enough. If/when we return to the city, it will without a doubt be where we call home.

My family stayed at the Evelyn for a weekend in NYC.
They checked us in early and the staff was very gracious. They have an evening happy hour with free wine and snacks. You also receive a voucher for pastry and coffee or tea at the bakery.
Our room was lovely. We had a double room and there were so many thoughtful and unique touches. There's a scent when you walk in that is delightful. The floor of the bathroom is heated and the tile is decorated with sheet music. It's just adorable.
We joked that the ghost of Evelyn herself was making sure we had a pleasant stay.
The bed, bedding and pillows were comfortable.
There was a bit more street noise than I have had at other NYC hotels. We were on the 9th floor and I think they could use thicker windows but... we all slept.
The shower was a bit tricky. Personally I'm not a fan of "rainfall" shower heads but it was okay.
The location is great, right near the subway, the Empire state building and Madison Square Park.

We stayed at The Evelyn for four nights. As soon as we talked in, we were thrilled with the hotel lobby, and the cheerful greeting that awaited us, After a very brief check in, and after offered bottles of water, we went to our room on the seventh floor.

Upon entering our room, we were greeted with what can only be described as charming, albeit to say the least. Our room overlooked E 27th St. giving us a great view of the street below, and of the beautiful New York Life Insurance Building.

Beautiful, extremely clean furnishing, comfy beds, and a fully equipped bathroom made our stay more that comfortable, and was the best respite after a long day in New York City.

And the location! A block and a half away from major subway lines in either direction, so getting around is a cinch. And only a few minutes walk from the Empire State Building, and SOHO!

The bakery/cafe down in the lobby is your destination for a good strong cup of coffee, and some of the most delectable Italian pastries I have ever come across!

Now, as wonderful as place as this is, if you are getting double/double, don't plan out spreading our your suitcases! Those particular rooms are a bit small, but we tend to live out of our suitcases anyway, so plopping them up on to the bed to get out the clothes for the next day was no big deal. The only other hangup I had was the hot water- its not. It's warm. But at lest it's not cold!

Still, even with these few little things, I would not hesitate to stay here again, and as I told them at the front desk when they asked me how it was, we will stay there again on a future visit.

We highly recommend!

One of the best hotel experiences my partner and I have ever had. The hotel was absolutely gorgeous and tucked down a little quiet street very close to Madison Square Park. Mere blocks away from the 6 train, making it so easy to get around the city.

We flew in on a red eye and the staff was able to accommodate us checking in 8 or 9 hours before our check-in time for a very small and reasonable fee so we could grab a nap and a shower.

Our room was small (expected for NYC) but very cozy. The heated bathroom floors were my favorite luxury.

They give you a voucher for a hot beverage (coffee, latte, tea, etc.) and a pastry from the cafe downstairs for breakfast which was an unexpected perk.

The staff was INCREDIBLE. They will be the reason we come back to this hotel again and again.

We cannot wait for the restaurant to open back up - such a wonderful spot to meet with friends and grab a drink and some dinner.

Thanks to the Evelyn team for making our stay nothing short of perfect.

I recently stayed at The Evelyn Hotel for 8 nights in late November early December 2019.
The hotel is conventionally located between 5th Ave and Madison Ave.
The rooms are well appointed and very comfortable. I requested a quiet room away from the street and this request was accommodated.

What makes this hotel so great are the staff!
They go above and beyond to ensure you have a pleasant stay. Andre and Leila and De Marcus were most helpful and friendly.
There was an issue with my sink and I informed Leila and it was fixed straight away.

The wine evenings that are held a few days during the week are a nice way to mingle with other guests and a way to chat with other hotel guests.
I had a drink in the bar a few times and the service was prompt and the selection of drinks and wines was most extensive.

The ambience of the lobby is beautiful and a nice calming oasis after a busy day of sightseeing etc in NYC.

Whilst I was staying at The Evelyn, my father passed away suddenly back home in Australia and I had to cut short my stay to head home to be with my family.

When I told Andre at the front desk the news I had received from home and I needed to speak with my mother and I was having difficulties with the phone in my room, he went above and beyond to assist me in getting in contact with her. He also offered his condolences to me which was greatly appreciated.

Andre was also so very understanding when I had to check out early, canceling my last 2 days that I had only booked a few days before and I was also refunded my final nights accommodation, this was also greatly appreciated.

I received a card of condolences from DeMarcus on my last day from the Evelyn Family . It was beautiful gesture.

The way the entire team assisted me during this very difficult time was just wonderful, they were sympathetic and empathetic to my sad situation.

I would recommend The Evelyn to anyone visiting NYC who want a great hotel in a great location with staff that go above and beyond to ensure your stay is wonderful and comfortable.

Thank you again Leila, Andre and DeMarcus for everything!

This hotel has a good location in the Nomad area of Manhattan. You can walk everywhere and anywhere. So this is a big plus!

The hotel itself, the rooms are very small. So being two people in the upgraded queen rooms is pushing it. In addition the AC is manual (not central) so there is a constant noise. Since we came in May, it was fine because we could have it turned off. But it was so noisy, we would have not been able to sleep with that on in the room. Something to consider if you are a light sleeper.

Also the breakfast included, is just coffee / tea and a baked good or yogurt. So not sure if you could call it a full breakfast, more a snack. But good way to get coffee in the morning!

Overall, this hotel - the price point being lower, you can get a good deal if you don't want to spend a fortune on a hotel with a good location in Manhattan.

Room was amazing!!! Quiet clean, all the premium amenities!! Super comfy and relaxing! The styling throughout the hotel is all modern and classy not the cheesy clown house like many modern hotels in the city. Check-in was seamless, front desk polite and informative just like the hotel manager, a very refined gentleman.
Wifi is good incase you are working remotely from your room and they do follow Covid safety protocols.

This beginning of the 20th century art deco hotel has a lot of charm. Not only because of the building but also because of the staff and services. There's an open bar from 5 to 6 PM on regular basis and for New year's eve they arranged a DJ in the hotel lobby which was an excellent alternative for the crowd on Times Square. A special mention for De'Marcus who lifts the hotel hospitality to a next level.
We did have a problem with the AC noise of a neighbouring building in room 404 but they changed us to another room without discussion.
Downside of the rooms was a tiny bathroom which hardly allows 2 people in it.
There's a nice coffee shop inside the building as well as an award winning restaurant.
Highly recommended!

The hotel's restaurant closed during the pandemic, and as of December 2022 is still closed. Guest breakfast is one food item from a selection of egg sandwich, oatmeal, muffin, yogurt or granola, and then one beverage from a selection of coffee, water, orange juice, some sodas. Forget if they have tea, sometimes they have had hot chocolate. This is grab and go breakfast and they close around 11am. The bar opens at 5pm and closes around 10pm. There is no other food or drink places in the hotel. Dominique Ansel pastry shop is two door down and Whole Foods is a block away.
