We stayed here for my husband's 40th birthday celebration. The staff at the Shoals Restaurant were incredibly accommodating for our dinner party with several young children. There isn't a kid's menu, but they served up some great kid-friendly dishes none-the-less! The adult meals were excellent, and the view from the outside dining was incredible. The beach was perfect for boogie...

You can imagine yourself sharing this inn with Bogart and Bacall, Tracy and Hepburn, or Gable and Lombard. Yes, the rooms and building seem are very old (even though recently remodeled again), the air conditioning is straight out of the 50's, and both the stairways and walkways are very rickety, but you cannot help but love this place. The view,...

Room 12 has THE most amazing view! We had two rooms which looked like back in the day might have been a 1 bedroom apartment but now is just a cute, slightly funky suite that worked great for our family. The room had also just been repainted and re-carpeted. You do hear the highway in the back room but it...

While traveling from San Jose to Orange County we stopped on 101 to change drivers. It was lunch time and the exit led us to the Cliff House which had a restaurant. We took a chance and it proved to be a wonderful surprise. The food was great and we talked to some other diners who had stayed at the...

This hotel is worth just one night on your journey on the Pacific Coast Highway. All rooms indeed are facing the ocean and you can hear the waves crushing into the shore. But you also hear anyone who is walking by your windows or who is by the small pool or playing table tennis. We were on the first floor...

In Room #11, where we stayed, through huge floor to ceiling windows we could see waves crashing over rocks. This hotel is not "by" the sea but "on" the sea. Sure, it could use some up grading but the spacious rooms still have a rustic 50's feel. The front desk staff are helpful and friendly. Being lulled to sleep by...

I love staying at hotels where you can hear crashing waves as you're falling asleep. This hotel does not disappoint. Located right off the highway, it sits next to a few million dollar homes. Yes, it's a bit dated, but it's very clean. The staff was very friendly, the grounds are nice, and all of the 25 rooms face the...

This place is dated, but clean and nice. The four end rooms are very large with a great view. The onsite restaurant is excellent and I have no idea why more people from LA don't make this drive for ocean-side dining. The only reason I don't rate it higher is that the staff are hard to find. Upon checkout at...

This hotel was excellent we had beautiful views from our room. Its only 20 minutes from Santa Barbara . We love the quiet and romantic views. Beautiful pool over looking the ocean. Its a little tricky getting there off the Fwy but worth it. I would love to come back every year. The only thing missing was a fire pit...

The view brings us to the Cliff House. The service and the food keeps us coming back. The Cliff House is a favorite lunch location because the view is breathtaking. When sitting atop the precipice dinning location, the waves actually break diagonally against the coast. If the ocean and the waves were not enough to calm even the most turbulent...
