My husband and I have had a place on Whidbey Island for 18 years and we've passed, but never stopped into Captain Whidbey for a meal. A friend who lives in Coupeville mentioned that we absolutely had to go to Captain Whidbey for dinner, so...More
The beauty of the grounds is the big draw here. The accommodations are substandard for the price. With taxes, we paid in excess of $250 for a unit with private bath (facing the lagoon) -- and that unit had not been updated since it was...More
Just got home after spending an amazing weekend at the Captain Whidbey Inn on Whidbey Island, WA. Met some pretty cool folks that work there, Jeff the General Manager and Pat the evening receptionist made us feel at home and welcome every day, Corinne who...More
My boyfriend and I had such a lovely time at the Captain Whidbey last weekend. The location is beautiful with spectacular views. I'm looking forward to returning and can't wait to see what kind of updates the new owners will make to the property.

I am sorry your experience at Captain Whidbey was so dismal. I don't know what question you would like me to answer, other than the fact that obviously our experience was different. I am on a diet, so when we eat out (especially when we don't have a refrigerator for leftovers) we usually just get appetizers where we can control the portions. We enjoyed ours very much. We stayed at the inn prior to peak tourist season when the weather was cooler and there were no fruit flies to pester us. The lodge was hosting a wedding, so things were busy over there. Regardless, our needs were met. (Our amenities worked fine at the time and we had no need to contact the front desk once we were in the room.) That being said, I would certainly also be upset, if our experience had been like yours.
