This in built in 1907 has incredible warmth and charm. The fir logs remain as originally built. I spent two nights on the Penn Cove water side--Room 3 and Room 6. Both lovely. Each room has a unique personality, art and linens. Everyone on staff...More
This property is past its prime. Some might describe it as rustic. Simply put, it needs a major upgrade and is not worth the $180 per night charge. Issues include rusty bath sink, mold and mildew, subpar towels, no hairdryers, etc.
Try other alternatives and...More
I have never felt compelled to review a restaurant before but felt I needed to tonight. We were greeted by the hostess on arrival with a very luke warm reception. Maybe because we had our very well behaved well dressed children in tow I do...More
Five star situation. Rooms are small and men's shared bathroom is basic and outdated. Recommend the chowder but mussels not the best and mine were cold and had to go back to be reheated. Creme Brûlée was poor.
Had dinner last night at Captain will Whidbey Inn on Whidbey Island. What a delightful pristine setting. Beautiful grounds all around. Delicious meal. Friendly waitress. Could not have been better! We will definitely be returning, and hope to stay in one of their rooms next...More

I am sorry your experience at Captain Whidbey was so dismal. I don't know what question you would like me to answer, other than the fact that obviously our experience was different. I am on a diet, so when we eat out (especially when we don't have a refrigerator for leftovers) we usually just get appetizers where we can control the portions. We enjoyed ours very much. We stayed at the inn prior to peak tourist season when the weather was cooler and there were no fruit flies to pester us. The lodge was hosting a wedding, so things were busy over there. Regardless, our needs were met. (Our amenities worked fine at the time and we had no need to contact the front desk once we were in the room.) That being said, I would certainly also be upset, if our experience had been like yours.
