We have been coming to the Captain Whidbey Inn once or twice annually over the last 15 years, and look very foward to the visit. Captain Whidbey's is a very unique, rustic, historic inn located on peaceful Penn Cove just outside the seaside village of...More
The inn greeted us with it's usual charm. It reminds me of a movie set in the 1920's. It has narrow stairwells, rustic walls, uneven floors, the bathroom in the main inn is down the hall.... all of which add to the incredible charm of...More
We just got back from spending 2 nights there for our anniversary. I'm not sure if it was the time of year or not but our experience was very poor. The young woman at check-in didn't know anything and I completely blame management for this....More
My wife and I, along with our five year old boy, stayed at Captain Whidbey this summer. It was a very good experience. We were traveling from one part of the state to the other or we might have attempted to stay longer. The price...More
Very charming, romantic inn...just what we were looking for in our 1st trip to Whidbey Island. Very clean hotel. We stayed in the cottage and it was lovely. The food was tremendously fabulous, the wait staff and bartender extremely cordial and kind.

I am sorry your experience at Captain Whidbey was so dismal. I don't know what question you would like me to answer, other than the fact that obviously our experience was different. I am on a diet, so when we eat out (especially when we don't have a refrigerator for leftovers) we usually just get appetizers where we can control the portions. We enjoyed ours very much. We stayed at the inn prior to peak tourist season when the weather was cooler and there were no fruit flies to pester us. The lodge was hosting a wedding, so things were busy over there. Regardless, our needs were met. (Our amenities worked fine at the time and we had no need to contact the front desk once we were in the room.) That being said, I would certainly also be upset, if our experience had been like yours.
