A rustic and beautiful old lodge on a beautuful bay; however the service and amenities for the price are poor.
When we checked in no one welcomed us or checked to see if all was well in our room.
We soon discovered that the walls...More
If you want a quiet, new room with upgrades, stay in the newer lodge rooms (run about $125/night off season). There are views of a well cared for lawn and small lake by the bay, but if you want an amazing experience in an old...More
My husbands 50th birthday was coming up. I wanted to pay for a whole weekend for several of our friends. The event was to include the hotel and two hosted dinners and a cocktail party. I called and checked out the place. Yes they were...More
The outside view is wonderful. We checked into the Lagoon which had a funky smell and opened the windows to air it out. The decor was very basic and just functional: I don't even think we had a picture on the wall. We went out...More

I am sorry your experience at Captain Whidbey was so dismal. I don't know what question you would like me to answer, other than the fact that obviously our experience was different. I am on a diet, so when we eat out (especially when we don't have a refrigerator for leftovers) we usually just get appetizers where we can control the portions. We enjoyed ours very much. We stayed at the inn prior to peak tourist season when the weather was cooler and there were no fruit flies to pester us. The lodge was hosting a wedding, so things were busy over there. Regardless, our needs were met. (Our amenities worked fine at the time and we had no need to contact the front desk once we were in the room.) That being said, I would certainly also be upset, if our experience had been like yours.
