My Lady and I stayed 3 nights in the ‘Executive Corner King’. All staff were friendly, competent and efficient. This includes those at the desk, room service, the restaurant, the coffee shop, and the valet staff. The food and coffee ranged from good to very good. For a 4-star hotel, The Novelty rates 5 stars.
My husband had eye surgery at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. We had to stay at a hotel for a week while my husband recuperated. The hospital chose this hotel, not us. They made the reservations for us. My husband was confined to the hotel so I brought pre-made dinners. The rooms don't come with microwaves so I requested one (3 times) before someone brought one to our room. We were there for a total of 8 nights and room service came to our room only 3 times. Three stars is a generous rating. I will never stay there again.
We booked the Notary for a Presidents Day weekend trip to Philly. We primarily booked it for its perfect location in Center City, easily walkable to the Independence Hall area, though walking to the museum areas might be a stretch for some. The hotel is across the street from City Hall, and you can walk around and view some of the outdoor artwork that Philly is known for. The lobby is gorgeous. Check-in on the Bonvoy app was easy, and we used our phones as keys for the room. They are in the process of modernizing their elevators, so it would take some time to get down to the ground floor from our room, between waiting and then stopping on almost every floor on the way down. The room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. The window looking out to the city was a little small, but totally understandable considering the building is on the register of historic places. The restaurant could use some work, primarily with staffing. We called down to ask how long a wait for a table would be, and were told no wait. However, when we got to the restaurant, we were told they were only taking diners with reservations, no walkups. Luckily, when we told them of the phone call, they did seat us after a 20-30 minute wait. Our waitress made it very clear that they were understaffed and she was overworked. The food was okay, drinks were better. Breakfast seemed to be staffed more appropriately, and again the food was okay. You're probably better off looking at the many restaurants around Center City (or uber to Dante's & Luigi's like we did on our second night). Valet also seemed understaffed, though they were up front about the expected wait once we called down for our car (20-30 mins). Overall, very nice hotel, could use some help with staffing restaurant. Would stay here again.…
Check in line was long and we were extremely dissappointed when we found out that our room wasn't ready even though we checked in after 4:30pm. The bed was really uncomfotable and we ended up sleeping on the sofa in the living room area. This hotel is in a great location and perfect for going to see many places that are within walking distance.
Located across from city hall, this hotel is great for anyone who wants to visit Philly and be able to walk to local sights. The staff are immensely friendly from John at the door to the front desk staff. The rooms are a good size for a downtown building with a cool history. The only trouble we had was the elevators - 2 banks of 3 cars - one in front and one in back. However, only 1 was running in the lobby and 2 in the back. That's really not sufficient for a busy hotel. Not sure what was keeping them from getting them all functional. The bar/restaurant was staffed with great people and the breakfast was nice and spicy. Sadly the coffee shop was not open later in the day for an afternoon jolt of caffeine.
Beautiful hotel that’s perfect for those running or spectating the Philly Marathon. Our room was nicely furnished and overlooked City Hall. It was quiet at night and we slept well. The hotel is in a great location and is close to many restaurants and attractions. For race participants—this hotel is only about a block from the packet pickup location and there is a shuttle to and from the start line. My only complaint is that the La Columbe in the lobby opens late (I think around 7 am). I needed coffee on race morning around 4 am! The hotel should open the shop early for race weekend.
Check in: quick and efficient. Very helpful reception Room: quite nice with unique touches as a notary office in its prior life. Bathroom was clean and functional. Food: need improvement. I tried breakfast which came in brown bag (due to covid restrictions)! anyway rather should have stepped out and eat at a restaurant. Great location though. Price: was at higher end for the level of comfort, luxury, food experience.
Location was good. Especially for the marathon. Some sketchy people around the hotel though and it would have felt better if there was more of a security presence. Biggest issue was really the hot water though which was temperamental at best. People just don’t have fifteen extra minutes to wait around for the temperature to be warm. And I did have one shower where all of a sudden the water turned cold and I had to jump out in a hurry!
We had stayed at this hotel several times in the past years. Is conveniently located and not as busy as the other hotels near the convention center. Is a reliable good hotel This time our stay was great. Checked in by Mariam Sidibe and a helped with our luggage by a very friendly young man (sorry forgot your name). The room was very clean and the staff in general was very pleasant and accomodating. The only set back was the parking situation that at times can be very congested
Is this room worth $480.59/night to you? V tiny corner window cover by metal grate, with big curtain covering up what is actually a wall. Teeny rooms with minimal storage areas or place to open your suitcase. Added "bonuses" include terrible lighting, parking is a nightmare, painfully slow and unreliable elevators and good luck getting any water bottles. So many better priced and better quality places to stay in this area, this was a nightmare!
