Wonderful hospitality, everyone very friendly at front desk (Michele!), a good breakfast buffet included, free wifi (that works well!), and lots of little extras in the room to use like a bathrobe, a nice umbrella. Bed was very comfortable (and I like that the windows open). A great location for strolling up and down the many shops and restaurants along Germantown Avenue in both directions. Very safe neighborhood. Highly recommended!

We enjoyed our stay at The Chestnut Hill Hotel. It is a quaint hotel with easy access to many restaurants and shops. Our accommodations were clean, the bed was comfortable, and the location of the hotel is ideal for exploring the Chestnut Hill area. The best part of the hotel, however was the hospitable staff! Mindy, Michelle, Calva, and Jill were friendly and helpful. They were a delight to meet, and they made us feel welcome throughout our stay.

I visited Chestnut Hill Hotel last weekend for a quick weekend trip to PA. The front desk staff were helpful and friendly. I especially want to thank and acknowledge Jill for going above and beyond! I stayed in the carriage house and enjoyed lunch at the market and the firepit and lounge areas in the evening. The room itself had the most indulgent claw foot tub. I will be back to enjoy another get away at Chestnut Hill Hotel.

Even though local to the area needed a place to stay while my house was being painted. After a long day of work, bed was super comfy and shower was warm and relaxing. Breakfast had all that I needed... waffles, bagels, yogurt, hard boiled eggs and more. Housekeeper Linia did an excellent job. Won't hesitate to stay again!

Staff interacts with each other & with guests as if caring for family - patient & thoughtful. Making & changing reservations is best done by phone w/front desk staff, as online reservation system is not always operational. Continental breakfast is nice (starting at 7AM), with bagels & other breads & pastries, hard boiled eggs, fruit cups, yogurt, granola, oatmeal, waffle-maker, & a coffee & espresso machine. Tables in the breakfast room are dressed with china dishes & cloth napkins.

I was in on business for literally a total of 24 hours and had the pleasure of staying at Chestnut Hill Hotel. I was blown away by Jill, front of house receptionist, and her wonderful presence as she helped me get settled and answered any of my questions. The charm of the hotel was so lovely to immerse myself in with a lovely addition of a giant bathtub with hot water, a heated towel rack, and a fireplace. The layout of my room looked like it was a preserved old elevator shaft which was so cool to see. There were several wooden beams and giant metal wheels which gave a wonderful experience to a hotel stay. I was traveling solo and had a wonderful time finding food. I am vegan and found wonderfully delicious food right next to the hotel at Chesnut Hill Brewing Co (the founders from here are vegan!). The neighborhood was so wholesome and it felt nice to walk the streets and have the hotel so perfectly located next to a grocery store and restaurants. There is breakfast included and a Nespresso machine in the room. A 5 min walk gets you to grocery stores, bakeries, and art galleries. On Saturday morning there is a cute little farmers market. I adored my time here and would love to return. I recommend this spot!

A historic old hotel in a fabulous location, with no competition, this could be a first rate hotel with some strategic upgrades. As it is, it borders on dumpy. 1. Redecorate the rooms. Nothing fancy. But the design is horrendous. Make it quieter and classier with some basic antique furniture and a tasteful color scheme, lose the plastic chairs and the crazy Philadelphia themed crap. 2. Upgrade the TV and internet systems so they work seamlessly. 3. The free breakfast screams motel6. There are great bakeries all up and down the street. Instead of the bowl of eggs, lobby waffles and little debbie pastries, have a deal with the market behind the hotel for delicious fresh made stuff. Guests will love you for it. 4. Better housekeeping. This should be obvious. Rather than just making ip the beds, the rooms should be vacuumed and cleaned every day. 5. Have a few dedicated parking spots for hotel guests so they do not have to roam around the streets looking for spots on busy nights when the lot is full. For $220 per night, things have to be a little better. This could be a great hotel with a little better management and vision.

Response from John Pollock, General Manager at Chestnut Hill Hotel
Responded 4 weeks ago
Dear 312Karav, Thank you for taking the time to share your comments regarding your recent stay. I am pleased to hear you enjoyed our hotels location in the heart of historic Chestnut Hill. I see that you stayed in one wing of our hotel, consisting of 8 rooms featuring a Philadelphia theme, a nod to Historic Boathouse Row and the areas founding father, William Penn. I am sorry you did not care for the décor of your room. Our remaining rooms, located in the main hotel have a more traditional flair. Our Carriage House and Post Office annex building rooms offer yet other décor options for guests to select from. We will look into possible upgrades regarding our complimentary guest WIFI and its integration with our satellite TV provider. Our breakfast attendant bakes our own assorted danish and croissants daily. We also offer assorted bagels and breads to choose from. We have a plain or blueberry make your own waffle option. We have hard boiled eggs and a variety of yogurts with toppings such as Craisins, chocolate chips and walnuts. We have assorted juices, milk, almond milk, oatmeal, whole fruit, coffee, a variety of teas and gluten free bread upon request. We will keep your suggestions in mind for possible alternative breakfast enhancements. We do our best to provide our guests will full daily housekeeping service. I will share your comments with my team so that we may improve on our attention to detail regarding stay over service. Complimentary parking is located in the rear lot of the hotel. This parking is shared with other restaurants and vendors on property and as you mentioned, it can be busy during peak times. Typically there is a good amount of cars parking and leaving which helps minimize wait time. Parking on the Avenue is an option using a kiosk or the MeterUP app. Metered parking is enforced during the hours of 8am and 6pm Monday through Saturday. Parking on the Avenue off peak is free as is side street parking and parking is free on Sundays. We do not have a parking attendant 24/7 to reserve or monitor guest and market parking. Thank you again for sharing your suggestions. Wishing you a prosperous 2023.

This historic hotel doesn't have to try to please. It has 36 rooms and no, absolutely no, competition. If you have to do something in Chestnut Hill, there are no other hotels. Alternatives are scarce too. Our room, 304, had an intermittent drumming moise in the walls all night, both nights. The manager. I was told. Thought it was faint and anyway didn't know what it was and couldn't fix it. I guess they could have offered something, even headphones, to creatively address it, but nothing. Just a kind of can't do attitude. And the place is not inexpensive. On the plus side, the front desk staff are nice. And the hotel is adjacent to an indoor market with good food and drink.

Response from John Pollock, General Manager at Chestnut Hill Hotel
Responded 22 Feb 2023
Dear Barbara C, Thank you for sharing your comments regarding your recent stay. I apologize for the intermittent noise you experienced. My front desk associate advised me of your concern early Saturday morning. She spoke with you and your daughter and told you we did not have another room available at that moment to offer a room change as the hotel was sold out the prior evening. I went to see if I could locate the source of the noise coming from the bathroom ceiling in hopes of eliminating it. I was not successful and updated my front desk associate, and asked that she offer you the option to change rooms. I am sorry I did not have the chance to speak with you personally. I have since had our HVAC contractor remedy the issue. Should your travel plans bring you back to our area, please reach out to me personally and I will do everything within my power to provide you with an exceptional stay.

Beautiful old hotel that is nicely renovated. Room was clean and had everything we needed. Still carries a lot of old charm. Front desk ladies were pleasant and helpful. Complimentary breakfast was included in a nice side room with individual tables. Lots of restaurants and shops to walk to.

Comfortable, friendly, and well-appointed suite. This will be our go-to spot when visiting family in the Chestnut Hill area. The nespresso machine and comfy robe in the room were appreciated, and the complimentary breakfast with pretty china dishes was a nice touch.
