Hotel's Favourite
We had an amazing stay at the Sonesta Rittenhouse. Suzette and her entire staff were welcoming and helpful. The location is fabulous; we loved walking to Rittenhouse Square, City Hall, and Reading Terminal Market. The beds and pillows are extremely comfortable, which was lovely after exploring the city all day. The room was very clean and spacious. Sad we didn't make it to the pool, but it looked fantastic. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in Philadelphia.

On the positive side:
The hotel's location is remarkable: near the City hall, museums and a train line from the airport.
The staff are friendly and efficient (at least at the reception).
The hotel has a bar with light dishes and also a high quality restaurant (but a little expensive).
The size of the room is sufficient, the bed very comfortable.
Excellent value for money compared to other hotels nearby.
On the less positive side:
The rooms should be slightly renovated (noisy air conditioning, soundproofing, bathroom).
The laundry service is decent, but the package arrives at reception and not in the room ...
The room cleaning service is unworthy of such a hotel: sometimes at 16:00 the room had not yet been cleaned.
When this cleaning is done it is superficial (dust in the bathroom and on electrical outlets).
The hallways are not cleaned regularly: a room service tray remained there for several days and was only removed following my comment to the maid.
We received a room at the end of the corridor (so as not to be disturbed by the noise of the elevator, following the reception!), but this implies that cleaning happens much later than the rest of the floor.

We stayed at the Sonesta for two nights on Valentine's Day/President's Day weekend. While the room was very clean, bed was comfortable, and the location was excellent, there was a door connecting our room to our neighbors on either side. This wouldn't have bothered us, except our neighbors on one side stayed up until 2AM on Valentine's Day playing music and we could hear everything from our room because of the non-soundproofed door. When I called the front desk to share this with them and ask them for earplugs, they apologized and notified us that they had run out of earplugs. I was extremely surprised and disappointed that such a large hotel would have completely run out of earplugs on Valentine's Day/a holiday weekend. As an alternative, they offered to send security up to the room, which I found to be a bit aggressive considering the noise wasn't so disruptive that it couldn't just be blocked out by earplugs. The second night, the same room stayed up until 2AM again watching TV. Anecdotally, this room also left their "Do Not Disturb" sign on their door the entire stay, which I personally found a bit strange considering it appeared they stayed up late all night, and perhaps slept all day. When I was asked how my stay was at check out, I told the concierge it was fine, but explained the above, only to have him look completely caught off guard, say "I apologize," and promptly ask if I wanted a copy of my receipt. I expected a bit more of an apology and some offering of redemption or compensation to entice us to return to a Sonesta, but unfortunately I don't think I will.

We sincerely apologize for the inconveniences you mentioned and agree the least we could have done was to offer an apology for what you experienced. I will contact you via your personal email so we can resolve this issue to your satisfaction. We can only hope that you will return to allow us an other opportunity to show this was the exception not the rule.

+1
We got a corner king room, which even though was supposed to be small was the perfect size for a couple. Beautiful skyline sunsets! Stayed 4 nights, and the bed was very comfortable. I asked them about it and was surprised they sell their own brand of beds and linens on a shop sonesta website. The art bar was so fun on the weekend. I think there was a wedding party. So close to everywhere worth walking to, and when you come in from the stinky streets the fresh scent in the lobby was so nice. The only odd thing about the room was the ceiling looked like it was plastered over a few inches, and the ceiling in the bathroom was peeling a bit.

Dear marieZ3211YL, Thank you for your review. We so pleased to read about your most recent stay and how you enjoyed our hotel. The corner rooms are smaller than standard but we do agree they offer some great views. It was also good to hear you enjoyed the Art Bar. It's a cozy place to get a great specialty drink from our staff. In regards to your ceiling, we will figure out which room you were in and address immediately. Thanks for letting us know. Thanks again for choosing the Sonesta Philadelphia. We hope to see you soon!

Sonesta never disappoints with its ever comfortable beds and down pillows. The room is a bit small, don't plan on spending too much time in it. The bathroom is also small. The tub is not very high and quite narrow. It lacks a grab bar, which would be a good idea for those trying to balance themselves as they wash up. There is no handheld shower, only a spout, but the the pressure was fine as well as the temperature when I showered late at night. The bathroom could also use an additional towel bar as the one they provide is meant for hand towels, not bath towels. There is also no vent in the shower, but we did not see any problems with mold. The toilet seat made a noise every time someone sat down on it or got up - it needs to be better secured. but it did flush completely each time. There are drawers and a narrow closet to store clothes. The curtains do not let in enough light since they are also narrow. To enter a floor number in the elevator, you must provide your room key and it won't let you press keys for any other floors without scanning the key to that floor. To enter the pool and gym, you also need to scan your key. That's fine for security purposes, but the hallway water fountain is not on, so if you need to get nice cold water from the gym water dispenser, you need to scan your card to get in. Check out time is 12 non, but they will grant you an extra hour if you request one. However, once you check out, you can no longer have access to any carded areas, such as the pool. They will hold onto your luggage a little longer after you check out, but by then your parking ticket will also check you out, so you might as well leave the premises permanently. This hotel is too small to hang out long in the lobby. The pool deck is clean with lots of towels and seating. but the water is rather cold, even on a warm day because the wind blows on the rooftop. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The hotel was extremely clean and modern. We slept on a high floor away from any street or construction noise. We would stay again because great sleep is at the top of our list. BJs has a great rate for members.

My friend and i planned an overnight trip in Philly. The hotel was close to some tourist attractions (City Hall, RTM, Love Park) and was walking distance to numerous bars, restaurants and 30th Street station. Only stayed one night so we didn't get to utilize the Park and Stay package (free parking, 2 ice skating rink passes, attractions pass, $25 gift card for Garces) The room was very spacious. Really appreciated having our bags stored with the bellhop so we didn't have to lug them around Saturday morning. George at the front desk was very helpful. I would stay here again.

We stayed in town for a concert at Citizens Bank Park. the location was wonderful for all sorts of sightseeing. It is a beautiful city with so much to offer. I was saddened that a lot of the shops and restaurants are closed because of the pandemic. Seeing it and the difference since my last trip more than five years ago really hit home. The hotel was clean, modern and well appointed despite the fact that this is not a new building as it is right in the middle of the historic downtown. I was disappointed they closed the bar very early, but the bartender was very nice and she let us sit there while she did her cleaning after the last call. I think the whole area has suffered a lot because of the pandemic and I look forward to returning next summer when this pandemic is finally over once and for all!!!! I got a nice rate with parking included on their website and that proved to be a very good value given the average cost of parking in a larger city. It also allowed the cars in and out for hotel guests only, which is a major perk.

A good hotel over all. I just didn't see any thing that wow'd me. The hotel room was clean, The staff seem to go above and beyond when you are a Sonesta reward card member. Everyone was friendly. The location of the hotel was perfect for sight seeing, shopping, Eating, or hanging out for a night of fun. Philadelphia is always a great place to visit so you can always find something to do in its downtown area with great eats for us vegan folks. This hotel didn't offer many vegan option on the room service menu. I wanted vegan burger or Philly famous vegan sub. Most of the time i used Grub Hub ( whe i wasn't out eating) to deliver from a local restaurant with vegan options. Would i come back ? yes i would and i am a Sonesta reward member. Hopefully when i return the pool will be open. I would like to do a review once the pool opens. I'm curious to how well its kept, how big it is and if it loos as good as the pictures.
Thank You Sonesta

The location of this hotel was perfect for our stay, it was central to everywhere we walked. The staff was great and our room was clean. The location of the toilet paper in our room was quite a reach from where you sit on the toilet which was interesting. Other than that, we had a great stay and we would stay there again!

Really liked this hotel. We enjoyed the rooftop pool and had bar service at the pool one afternoon. The rooms were large compared to many city hotels.. it was clean and had comfortable beds. We did not have shampoo or body wash in the bathroom containers attached to the tub.
Our one glitch was on the second evening our rooms smelled strongly of adhesive being used in repairing bathroom fixtures somewhere in the building. One room was unbearable and with an asthmatic family member it was necessary to move to another room. The hotel staff willingly made the move and located the family near by.
This hotel is a good value based on the park and stay package.

Greetings:
Yes, but unless you have a package deal with the Hotel, the daily rate is $50 with in and out privileges. There is more affordable parking nearby, without in and out options. Parking is extremely expensive in the downtown Philadelphia area. Good luck! Best regards, D
Yes they hold luggage! In my experience when I asked for my luggage to be held when visiting the hotel they were able to check to see if my room was ready and checked me in early. The Sonesta is very accommodating.
Yes, the pool will open on Friday, May 28th to registered guests only. Limited seating is available.
The pool is a heated pool and we hope to have at a comfortable temperature by opening.
