Rude and slow staff. Room was not ready at checkin, room had duct tape all over windows and walls. Bathroom walls were dirty. Don’t bother with valet, your car will take over an hour to arrive and no one cares. Hotel and the room was very dark and gloomy. Just don’t bother with this hotel.

Of all the hotels that are supposedly 5 stars and advertises luxury and comfort, this is one of the worst I have ever stayed. The room essentially does not have enough light for a human being to manage normal activities. You have to be a bat to be able to maneuver in that place. You'll need your phone flash light to perform any activity. One of the light fixtures on the night stand was missing, thereby compounding the problem. The lamps give no luminosity, one of them was covered with thick shading and the bulb was just a few watts rendering it useless. The light in the bathroom is equally faint. If you have to work, you'll seat at a desk staring at the back of a TV. Good luck if you have to zoom or VC in any way, you'll be a ghost on the screen with a tacky background (be sure to change it or fade it as it looks most strange in the penumbra of the room). To open and shut the curtains you have to climb and stand on the bed as it is right behind it, there is absolutely no room to reach the curtains otherwise. Whoever designed this room was not thinking about functionality at all. My room faced a wall in the 35th floor. No slippers, walk on bare floor. No bathtub. The temperature in the room was either freezing or too warm. No arm chairs or any chair in the room for that matter. The fittings and furniture look ultra cheap, with a pretentious style that is made with poor quality materials. The place is relatively new (I saw it being built as I used to live very close), and it already looks dated. The internet is terrible, really slow, one cannot stream, and they charge you for it. The music on the elevators is really loud, you can't hear anything if you happen to be on a call, or it is just simply annoying if you are just traveling up and down. The restaurant is an Italian place surprisingly mediocre. The seating in the lobby is awkward; same with the bar, which is difficult to share with another interlocutor unless you're seating side by side. The staff is terse and borderline rude, I found myself repeating the same requests several times and getting stares of contempt, so I stopped asking for anything. They do not replenish the coffee or any other amenity (not even the paper pad) and they clean the rooms really late. I could go on. It is an expensive product for the experience. Look elsewhere in the city, unless you can use waves beyond the light spectrum to move around and do not mind any of the above.

*HONEST REVIEW* Just from reading these others. Don't waste your time reading these entitled rich dummies reviews who get mad at the sound of " No". This place is the epitome of horrible management and its obvious the moment you check in. While being here I've came to the conclusion; Why waste time getting mad at front desk employees and housekeepers when its obvious their management is the bigger problem. Everything from check in to check out was "ight". Most of the employees are pretty cool people for the most part and at least from my own experience only time I have a bad time anywhere its because the workers hate their job to be frank as a result of being mistreated probably. Its just clear here they are under prepared, have uninformed workers, are under trained and have blatantly dumb supervisors. At the end of the day I know these people just getting paid to be here which I'm not mad at. ITS JUST A JOB. Check In was seamless, check out was seamless. Anytime I had a problem I came to terms with the fact I'm not the only person staying in this hotel who probably having problems. despite the one star... Overall 6/10. I doubt this review will ever be seen

One of the worst business trips of my career. For what we paid, and the amount of business we brought I would have expected better. I was put in a room next to the service elevator. It never stopped, all I heard all night long was the machine parts of the elevator going up and down. I asked for a new room and they said they were sold out and gave me ear plugs. Room 3311. DO NOT STAY.

I've never written a bad review before, but this one was absolutely warranted. From check in to check out this was hands down misery. I have never stayed in a more disgusting and dangerous hotel in my life. After calling and confirming that my room would be ready at 3 PM, I checked in at 3:30 PM. We waited 2 HOURS in the lobby and BEGGED to check in to our room. Turns out the front desk, forgot we were waiting. The front staff is extremely disappointing, eating behind the desk, and gossiping about their love life. Way more interested in that than attending to guests. Next miserable experience was the room keys. We went through 8 ROOM KEYS for a 2 night stay, because they would deactivate before getting to room. Upon using the room key, my husband and I had to physically slam our entire body weight onto the door to open it because a sticky substance prohibited it from opening. Upon entering the "suite" specifically room 3602, we were greeted with FILTHY carpets, GIANT STAINS on CHAIRS which mimicked fecal matter and dust throughout. I was going to call concierge downstairs however, the room phone would not work. Every time I needed something I would have to go downstairs and ask. Most importantly, at night I physically feared for my safety as multiple fights broke out in the lobby amongst the pounding music that infiltrated the marijuana filled lobby. Oh and cherry on top was a 1.5 hour wait to get our car from the valet- we were dying to get out of there.. NEVER will I stay in this place again. I am so sad to see a hotel with such potential be so entirely disappointing.

I visited The W for both business and pleasure and from check-in, my spa experience, The Living Room bar, their Dolce restaurant, I had wonderful service. I visited the spa and reserved their OG package which includes their De-Stress massage and Prescription Facial. I was met by Nicole for my massage and she had a beautiful touch and the perfect technique. She is a very talented massage therapist. Next, I met Katie for my facial and she did a very thorough intake that took my sensitive skin issues into consideration. She tailored my facial to my concerns and did a beautiful job as well. Katie is a very knowledgeable and talented esthetician. I went to the Living Room bar after my service to enjoy some wine and an appetizer and was greeted by Nestor who also provided me with excellent service. He made a wonderful suggestion for a place for me to visit during my trip and even though it got very busy, he was very attentive and never appeared rushed. If you are looking for a downtown location that is romantic and upscale, then this is your place.

Absolutely the worst hotel experience of my life. I’ve stayed in tiny rooms, gigantic rooms, you name it. I’ve never entered a filthy room ever in my life. I arrived stuck my luggage in the room and quickly went to meet family in the venue in the lobby area. We had drinks etc and when finished tan up to the room to shower and sleep. Entering the room went to put my luggage on the settee and it was heavily soiled so pulled out the luggage rack. Jumped into the shower and slowly realized there was ‘hair’ everywhere. Jumped out and called the desk. They found me another room. Gross! On checking out I asked for a cab to the airport. He looked at me and said ‘you have a phone call one.’ I tried to get an UBER only at the last second. Worst stay at a hotel in my life

The reviews on this hotel are crazy. I had a 10/10 experience. The staff was AMAZING! I was put in a room that didn’t have a tub and they moved me to a room with a tub. Beautiful! I will definitely come back. FYI I didn’t park valet. I went a block up to park because it was cheaper but other than that I’ll be back again and again

I understand why this hotel only has 3 stars. I’ve stayed here a few times. Every time, there is something that disappoints me. The facilities are brand new, which is nice. The suite itself was nice - comfortable bed, great shower and bath. But the hotel seems very short staffed and the staff is often grumpy or rushed or inattentive. The restaurant is bad - also short staffed, poor communication, disappointing food.

this hotel might be good for young couples and hipsters (though the pricepoint would seem to obviate a lot of that business), but not really appropriate for much else. i'd advise business or family travelers to not even consider it. the few pros: the hard product is nice, or at least new and up to 'W' snuff. not quite up to $500+ a night standards for philly, but sleek enough. i've found the design of a few W properties to be excellent - barcelona and south beach come to mind - but this one is not that. it's generally way too dark and over-art-directed in a kind of studied way. you can just tell this stuff's gonna be falling apart in a few short years. the pool area is lovely, kind of special for philadelphia if not completely unique. i visited in march, but i'll bet in summer it's horrifically overcrowded with the hotel selling day passes. the views are commanding, though the room windows do little to seal out much street noise. just about everything else ranges from pretty lousy to unacceptably bad. here' s look at some - though not nearly all - .of the cons: service slow. zero 'welcome to's . robotic and depressing personalities. i didn't see a single person behind a desk that looked to be older than @ 26. valet among the worst ever experienced - snotty, talking amongst themselves, unhelpful. my room - a 'spectacular' - wasn't even 'below average', other than the view. if you're gonna be ballsy enough to to give rooms cutesy/ gimmicky names, at least deliver something decent. the room is narrow, yet someone inexplicably thought it was a good idea to set the bed up lengthwise in the middle. with the tv 90 degrees to your right. they then put a sofa in front of the room's single redeeming feature (the floor-to-ceiling windows) so you have to crawl over it to open the curtains. add the strong stench of stale cigarette smoke (broken window won't open at a brand new puxury hotel). to cap off, the bathroom is divided by the entry foyer; that's right, you enter the hotel room THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF ITS BATHROOM. no thank you. as others have mentioned, i also found the downstairs lobby to have a crowded, 'dangerous' feel to it. there's a difference between a young, fun, trendy party crowd, and a thuggish crowd. worse, the hotel doesn't seem to do much to monitor the events it leases its spaces too or the kind of partier the bars attract. make no mistake, this is something more than just 'yeah, we have a dj on weekends, we try to offer a fun time'. edition, standard, certain W properties get this blend right withut feeling like a straight-up criminal environment. this W in philly definitely does not. far from feeling like a stylish home away from home, the hotel just doesn't have a safe. comforting feel to it. and this is almost solely due to the patrons that party there. in short, i'd say choose rooms at one of the two local kimptons or the RC for a similarly priced, MUCH better hotel.
