I had a great stay at this hotel! The rooms were big, the beds were super comfortable, and the staff was super friendly. Also, the location of the hotel is ideal. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Philadelphia.

Hotel's Favourite
I have been meaning to write a review for a while now and am finally taking the time to give Rittenhouse 1715 a well-deserved and thorough review. THE WEBSITE For anyone who had checked out their website before late April, they would have seen an old-school layout with photos of dated rooms. But as the weeks progressed, the website got sleeker and more sophisticated with its design and images. More and more updated photos of the rooms were added, and new descriptions of each room’s inspiration appeared. I only wish the room description on the booking page matches what is inside each room. For example, not all rooms have a desk, but some rooms without a desk had “a working desk” in its description. FIRST IMPRESSION As if on cue, Doug (the manager) swung the front door open and greeted us with a big smile the moment my feet touched the ground. “What timing,” I thought. This probably doesn’t happen for everyone, so I was lucky that Doug happened to be inside the lobby right when we arrived. His exuberant welcome remains unmatched and set the tone for the rest of our stay at Rittenhouse 1715. When he happened to be in the lobby upon our return, he would greet us and welcome us back. I was impressed that he remembered our last name. SERVICE Even before stepping inside the hotel, a number of texts and emails had gone back and forth between me and the front desk staff—Shakirah, Madison, and Elijah. Ever patient and accommodating, they helped me decide on the rooms by sending me photos of those that have yet to be posted on their website-in-transition during the spring of 2022. They had also answered my numerous questions about the hotel. Once we were there, they brought us whatever we requested—a cot, a fan (a very nice Dyson), more toiletries, an extra glass, etc. Everyone was pleasant to deal with. THE HOTEL Located on a quiet and short street in between the hustle and bustle of Rittenhouse Square, it provides an urban oasis where you do not have to dodge cars and pedestrians. It makes it less hectic to be picked up and dropped off by Uber or Lyft as well. Then when I had a car delivered by Turo to the hotel, I had ample time to talk to the car owner without feeling rushed to get out of the way. What I love about the hotel is its romantic and timeless aesthetics. The beautiful and lush wallpaper and green benches in the lobby transport one to a bygone era. It creates an intimate space that reminds one of a drawing room or salon, but it’s neither of those, nor is it a typical lobby. One has to be inside the hotel to understand it. All I know is the lobby has a relaxing effect; it shuts out the rush of the day when you step inside it. THE ROOMS This is the reason why I picked this hotel. Each room is like a character in a book. Every room has its own personality. One might expect a cohesive theme, but that’s not the case. One room may feel more Asian modern while another room may be genteel and elegant. Some rooms are whimsical, and other rooms are bold and daring. It is a mix of periods, colors, style, and aesthetics. Depending on your taste, you can most likely find a room that speaks to you. The beds were very comfortable . . . as good as a 5-star boutique hotel that I stayed at in Chicago. Rittenhouse 1715 spare no expenses when it comes to their Frette towels and bedding. When all mid-tier hotels give you the standard towels—not too thin like Holiday Inn but not thick either—this hotel gives you affordable luxury. The toiletries are also different than the usual offerings of big hotel brands, Aveda, Crabtree Evelyn, or Gilchrist & Soames. The toiletries may not be formulated by a bespoke perfumery in New York City, but it is nice enough: Molton Brown’s relaxing ylang-ylang. I liked the Maude the best. You get the most for your money because that room is bigger than the usual one in its class, and it has an entry way between the bathroom and the bedroom. Its marble desk is also large and one of a kind with shelves on the side. The same applies to the Dandy in terms of space. The Dandy is reminiscent of 19th century French and beautifully furnished, but it felt a little more cramped with a cot in that room than it did in the Maude. Also, the Dandy is right above the bar, so unless you can put up with rock music until late at night, the Dandy is not the room for you. I found this out the hard way. Also, the desk chair has a wine stain on it. I hope the hotel has changed that seat since then. If the Maude had the bigger bathroom of the Dandy with its spacious vanity, it would have been the perfect match. If you do not mind a smaller room, I would recommend the Liberty or the Aristocrat. Those two are tasteful and oozes with character. Another beautiful room is the Jane, but you have to really like emerald green and don’t mind going up some flights of stairs. This reminds me of something rather important. If you want to avoid stairs, read the room descriptions carefully to see if the room is accessible by elevator or not. I wished I could have seen the Cassis because that room looks beautiful in dark purple and deep blue. It also has two armchairs and a desk, which is unusual for its class. All the rooms that are not a suite tend to be sparsely furnished. However, I heard that more furniture is on its way to the hotel. Still, some rooms like the Dumont is simply too small to hold much of anything beyond a king-sized bed, two night stands, and a tea tray. If the size of the room matters to you, definitely email or call the hotel for more details. All the suites are spacious and gorgeous, so if money is not an object, go for the suites. There are three of them, and their different prices go hand in hand with the size of the room. The Armand is the largest suite, but if walking up and down a spiral staircase between the bedroom and the living room makes you dizzy, then you will want one of the two other suites instead. The Rococo is the prettiest of them all, but if pink is not your favorite color, then choose something else. BREAKFAST It was very basic when we were there for the first four nights: store-bought mini croissants and muffins with bottled juice and coffee. However, upon our return from Gettysburg, they upgraded their breakfast to a fuller spread of summer berries, yogurt, granola, and more. I am not sure what breakfast is like now, but I hope they continue to offer more options for their breakfast. OVERALL This is not the hotel for everyone. If a mid-range hotel is what you are looking for, and you want something different than what big hotel chains offer, then consider Rittenhouse 1715. Most of all, if character is more important to you than anything else, then this is the hotel for you. The hotel is expanding and will be offering more rooms in the future. I look forward to seeing what they will do with the new rooms. Thank you, Doug, Charles (didn’t get to meet him but talked to him over the phone), Shakirah, Madison, and Elijah for taking care of my family and my parents when we were there.

Very cute hotel in Rittenhouse square. The cocktail bar was excellent and the guest service was great. I left a pair of clothes in the room by accident and they took care of the mailing them with no charge. Very appreciated of the service.

The location is really good, it's a great area of Philadelphia to stay, very near Rittenhouse Square and in walking distance to a lot of places, and quite quiet. The hotel is okay to good. The room was reasonably sized and comfortable, perhaps not quite as good as it looked in the pictures, but fair enough. There is a neat bar attached to the hotel. We had an odd experience one breakfast. We went down about 8.45am (not late, breakfast goes on until at least 10) and there was one piece of smoked salmon left on the buffet. We asked for more and were told that this was the second plate they'd put out today, and that others had got there earlier and eaten all the salmon (and tough on us. And if wanted smoked salmon the next day, we should get down earlier. It was very odd, as there wasn't a lot of items on the buffet. There were also no tea bags left. Another day we had a very nice breakfast, so maybe just one grumpy member of staff.

Loved this charming and quiet spot. Fabulous and attentive staff. I will be back!! John and his adorable niece at check in were able to dial me in to all I needed as I had lost my luggage. The speakeasy is a great spot for a drink after dinner.

Funky place very unlike the aseptic hotels in the area. Great location in Rittenhouse Square. Extremely welcoming and appropriately laidback staff who had real opinions about local restaurants, cafes, and even parking lots. Loved the stairs and halls shooting in all directions. And a real speakeasy on the premises. Will be back.

Checked in for one night, John at the front reception was a pure delight - professional, accommodating and explained parking ( $28 night. Around the corner on Lattimer- Cash Only). Room was quiet, extremely clean, large flat screen, Frette towels and sheets and beautiful robes! Milton Brown toiletries, a Nespresso Machine and rooms recently refurbished. Quiet street so virtually no noise. The best part was the bed…… beyond comfortable, new pillows ( various types) I slept perfectly! This is not my usual go to Philly Hotel ( I had stayed once or twice in 2018 and 2019- but it will be now! The only reason I did not give 5 stars was when I went to grab a yogurt or piece of fruit at 8:40 AM there was nothing on the complementary breakfast bar except 2 bagel halves and some smoked salmon. I went to the front desk and the lovely woman apologized profusely ( stated there were bananas and apples and yogurt earlier at 8 am ) but no offer of perhaps finding me one! Not a deal breaker as I really just need coffee in the AM. The Best Beds By Far and sleep means so much more to me!

This small boutique hotel is a gem! I stayed for business and was charmed by the unique and artistic rooms, full of all the essential and some extra amenities (eg bathrobe, slippers and cozy throw blanket). And teas in the room was my favorite treat! I’m going to come back as often as I can to try all the unique rooms. Staff was very friendly and helpful too.
