We were there because a family member was a patient at HUP. The entire staff was wonderful. When the valet staff asked and learned from me why I would be in and out they always asked how I was and how my family member was doing. I can't say enough how caring they all were. They were not at all intrusive. They were genuinely kind. I can't begin to thank them enough.

Hotel's Favourite
Had a last minute change of plan and needed a hotel. Being a Hilton Honors person, of course a gravitate towards Hilton products. This hotel sounded interesting and it didn't disappoint. In a quiet part of town, I think.( I didn't hear anything the entire day). The front desk was very accommodating and friendly. Parking was valet only but I did get my own car and park it when I returned from dinner. The room that I got was huge. Nice amenities. Comfy bed. 70+ rooms per floor. The entire staff was friendly and ready to help. Breakfast was a bit pricy but they give you a discount at check out. So that's good. The hotel was very clean. Social distancing is in effect again, so there's that. Come on people. Vaccinate, stop the hate. I think you will like a stay here. High class hotel that makes you feel good. I recommend.

When I arrived at the hotel I was exhausted from a two-legged airline trip. The lady at the front desk was very kind. Although I arrived earlier than the stated check-in time, she did not hesitate to check for room availability when I asked, and her overall demeanor during the interaction was very welcoming. She ended the interaction by asking if there was anything else she could do. I could not think of anything because she had anticipated my needs. Excellent all around and a tribute to Hilton Hotels.

I checked in on 3/5 for a week long stay for a program at Penn. Housekeeping is less than desirable. I did not want my room cleaned every day, but every other. Unfortunately, they didn't clean it at all. I called for towels on Tuesday. I called for housekeeping on Thursday. The housekeeper did not change the bed linens, vacuum, or take out the trash for the entirety of my stay. I will not stay here again.

Average size king room with very small bathroom. No vanity space for personal items. Minimum number of very thin towels provided. Had to ask for a hair dryer. Did not replenish soap or lotion. Just very poor when it came to amenities. I expect more from a Hilton.

Overall, the hotel was okay. My biggest complain is that it wasn't as clean as it should have been, which negatively colored my experience. The bathroom was not clean, there was hair all over the place (in and on the sink, on the floor counter, in the shower) and in/on the towels. I requested a new set of towels and they sent those up- but they had long strands of hair mixed in too. It was disappointing, and just felt uncomfortable, because I wondered about what else may not have been cleaned... I ended up cleaning the sink/counter/shower myself so that I would feel comfortable using it (I got in kinda late and by the time I was showering for bed it was quite late, and I didn't want to call housekeeping that late).

More spacious than appears to be from the outside. Boutique feel. Basically on Penn's campus but also a good location for the other schools in University City. Staff was very friendly and professional. Rooms were clean and beds comfortable. Several dining options in the hotel. Valet parking was efficient and priced as expected for in the city. Will stay again.

Perfect location for visiting PENN, walking distance to all facilities, that's why we selected to stay here. However disappointed about the room, can see obvious dust on desk/TV, coffer machine is not clean with cover broken, room service does not do the needed work. With one day overnight we just ignore the issues, but consider the $500+ price tag under Hilton brand, certainly should expect a better experience.

P h e n o m e n a l ! Thank you for an incredible stay! Please read (further) below for my comments regarding the incredibly positive aspects of this hotel! Prior, though, I feel it pressing to address some of the negative TripAdvisor reviews (as I almost didn’t book a room here, because of them). First, let me please clarify — while I am a very easy going person, I am tremendously picky, when it comes to hotels. I have traveled extensively (globally), so the perspective I share with you is broad. I grew concerned when I read some of The Inn at Penn TripAdvisor reviews (and almost didn’t book the room), as there were a considerable amount of negative things written about this hotel (seemingly with a similar theme). I am [now] not sure if these were written by a prior, disgruntled employee, or a competitor from a nearby hotel — or even a strategic (ill-intentioned) former guest that wants to keep the hotel prices/occupancy lower for their own future stays (?!); however, I can assure you that the negative comments I read are NOT accurate. There is nothing in this hotel that could even remotely be defined as ‘old and tired’ (etc), by any means. Rather, it has a luxurious or upscale feel, while still being inviting and comfortable. In spite of these reviews inducing hesitation on my part, I decided to ‘give it a go’. My husband had stayed here previously and said it was very nice. Our daughter had seen his room at this hotel, as well as another nearby hotel I had stayed at previously, and she said The Inn at Penn was far nicer — so I trusted her assessment and booked the room — & I am grateful I did. After arriving and checking in, my daughter and I discussed the appalling reviews (impossible and entirely inaccurate). Again, there is NOTHING ‘old and tired’ about this hotel. It is NICE — almost a ‘sparkly’ feel/ambiance. [TripAdvisor: we count on accurate reviews posted to your site, as we base our decisions of where to stay on them. Without the personal contact points our family had with this hotel, I would have booked elsewhere, simply based on the ‘fake’ reviews posted for The Inn at Penn. That is not only a huge disservice to the hotel, but also to us, as readers and potential guests. Would you please scrutinize the posted reviews and remove the ones that are questionable, as some comments appear to be simply and unequivocally not true.] So, onto the (more fun &) POSITIVE POINTS: — The STAFF: from the Valet/Bell team at the lower level, who enthusiastically and warmly greet guests upon arrival (and happily and safely held my luggage, btw, as I raced off to take care of something urgent); to the Front Desk staff, who were friendly, professional, and swift to get me settled & ‘going’… (Thank you, DENO — you are incredibly kind and helpful… & what a terrific tone you set for my week-long stay!); to Housekeeping, even accommodating a special request to have my room cleaned daily after 11:30, as I would be working mornings in my room; to ANGELA (!!), who kindly assisted me, as I had to unexpectedly extend my stay by a day, and she managed to do so, even on a very busy weekend for the hotel (with grace and kindness, no less!)…&, &… There wasn’t a moment or encounter that was anything other than uplifting and positive when dealing with the Inn at Penn TEAM! ‘So REFRESHING! THE ROOM(s)/ HOUSEKEEPING: My room was kept spiffy and clean, daily (Thank you, MONICA!), and was super comfortable! The beds and pillows are great! The shower was large and water pressure was great — my shower had a fixed sprayer AND hand held shower head options. HOTEL GATHERING SPACE(s) (yaaay!): This is a HUGE PLUS for The Inn at Penn! The hotel is beautifully decorated, and has one of my favorite hotel gathering spaces, ever! If you’re traveling with others, and/or just your family (or even alone), there is a very large ‘library style’ space adjacent to the lobby that is VERY COZY & LOVELY — it will draw you in, literally. It really is a ‘GREAT VIBES’ space to meet, make memories together, or just relax! RE. PARKING/VALET: Some negative TA comments were made about the parking costs at this hotel. As we all know, Hotel Parking is expensive at EVERY hotel in Philly (as it is in all larger cities!). — If flying in, my strong recommendation would be to not even rent a car. Parking is a hassle in Philly! You can choose to save yourself the hotel parking fee(s), rental car fees and lines, huge gas costs, parking tickets, wasted time looking for hard-to-find parking spots or squeezing yourself into a tiny parking garage spot (once at your desired destination), and a potential car tow (not kidding!)… and, instead, simply Uber from the airport. — Once at the hotel, there are ample options to get you where you want/need to go. — This visit, I experienced Philly from a whole new perspective and love it (by foot and bicycle)! — Transportation is easy enough, without your own car here… trains, Uber, WALKING, and BIKES! There are bikes you can rent throughout the city (Indego) — and an amazing trail to enjoy by bicycle that runs for miles and miles down the river… It is a part of the city you will not experience in the same way, if you only transit Philly by automobile. BIKE (side note :D): you can rent bicycles at various Philly drop off points, or even consider purchasing a new bike at Keswick Cycle, a short walk from the hotel. (I did this and will have the bike shipped home.) So, basically, my heartfelt advice would be, ‘Come, & sit a spell’, at The Inn at Penn… as my very hospitable, (Southern) Grandma used to say! ‘Or, simply, STAY HERE; it’s great; YOU’LL LOVE IT! :D The location is super, as is everything about the hotel. As hard as I might try, there isn’t anything negative I could report about the The Inn at Penn. Thank you, again, ‘TEAM TIAP’!
