My wife and I recently stayed at the Silverstone Bed & Breakfast in Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia. For those unfamiliar with the area, or the Silverstone, I can highly recommend both; and, to those familiar with Chestnut Hill but not the Victorian Era Bed & Breakfast with its European proprietors (Roman and Yola) I can only say – what is keeping...

It is great that some of my guests like talking to me - a chatterbox and a history freak. My wife lost her tolerance towards my stories around 30 years ago. Now, I have a proof that the best guests prefer good discussion to cold, professional treatment.

Being fans of Downton Abbey, this was a great place to experience the ambiance of mansion living. We entered through the kitchen and climbed the narrow winding stairs to the servant quarters. Our room was previously one of those, but it was not doubled in size. The mansion is built of stone throughout and just glows with the 1800s timeline....

Isn't it great when your plans to visit historical places is enhanced by staying in a mansion that remembers president Lincoln? We are very happy that we have a share in your vacations. Truly Yours , Romuald

It was one of the best places that I could have opted for. The architecture itself is pretty impressive and added to that the interiors and the rooms too are done artfully. The services and the host truly scored at the place. The rooms are nice and comfortable and perfectly friendly for those who want a peaceful and impressive stay...

Dear Omaral, Thank you for "one of the best places", "comfortable", ""perfectly friendly" and "impressive", but.... why only four stars? Why? Your Truly Confused, Romuald

We spent 9 nights at the Silverstone B & B while in Philadelphia visiting family and friends. Last year, we'd stayed at a hotel in the same area and enjoyed it; however, now I can't imagine coming to Chestnut HIll and staying anywhere other than the Silverstone. Inside and outside, the place is beautiful. Wonderful to be able to cook...

I am very proud that you wrote about warm atmosphere and at the same time hosts "not being intrusive". Well... I am a chatterbox, and it is not easy for me to make omelets in silence. It looks when dealing with you I focused on cooking and there was no smoke coming from the kitchen door. Thanks, Romuald

We were planning a trip to the East Coast, but because of my husband's health concerns, we can't always be certain they will actually happen. We made reservations with Yolanta, the innkeeper, for our trip, and within a week of the trip, we felt we had to cancel, giving her time to book the room. We played it by ear,...

My husband and I recently stayed at the Silverstone Bed & Breakfast and had a wonderful time. The innkeepers couldn't be nicer as they made us feel very much at home. It is a beautiful place filled with lovely antique pieces. Our room was spacious and kept very clean. We enjoyed a home cooked breakfast served elegantly in their dining...

I stayed at Silversone in May, and had a wonderful time. I was traveling on business and had one more night and wanted to stay outside of Philly proper. We used to live in the area, so I called Silverstone and spent a relaxing night and had a wonderful breakfast. Looking forward to going back with my wife!

Our family stayed at Silverstone already 5 times, and we can say that it's a very nice B&B. We lived in different rooms, and we have always been pleased. All the rooms were clean. It is very important for us because we always travel with a child. The beds are comfortable, the bedclothes are fresh and beautiful. Each room has...

  • The floor is actually hardwood painted over, and the walls brick, also painted over.
  • Only two pictures of the enormous bathroom. I should have taken more!!
  • The Suite was very large. They called it a 'room' but ....
