The host was there to meet me when I checked in. He gave me tips about the area. I was staying there on business and he packed me with a "to-go" bag to bring to the office both mornings I was there. His made from scratch baked goods were a big hit at the office.
My husband and I wanted to stay somewhere in Philly that had breakfast and free parking. We hit the jackpot when we found the Manayunk Chambers Guest House. It checked the boxes for both requirements, but it was *so much more*. Mark, the "face" of the B&B and Neal, a more "behind the scenes" operator, are warm, friendly people who embody a wonderful mix of modern savvy and old-world chivalry. We arrived at the end of a 1,000-plus-mile road trip and I was wiped out! Accordingly, it warmed my heart that they both, at varying moments, offered to carry my suitcase up/down stairs. We also enjoyed lively conversation with each of them. Fun! When we booked the room, we asked if there were any discounts such as AAA or seniors. Mark does not offer such perks as a rule, but a look at his calendar allowed him to give us 10% off. To our delight, when we checked in, he offered us an upgrade at no additional charge. What a mensch! We booked the Parisienne Suite, but with the upgrade ended up in the City Suite, which was marvelous. The bed was so comfortable, I almost didn't make it down to the parlor to partake of the ample selection of wines/beers/sodas and snacks. But I couldn't pass up that opportunity... Nor should anyone who stays there. It is thoroughly relaxing and peaceful. Before calling it a night, I immersed myself at length in the soaking tub, which removed any tension that might have been left. After a sound snooze, my day began with, perhaps, the funkiest shower I've ever taken. I cannot tell a lie. I was like a little kid changing the settings to make water come out of different spouts. It was a ton of fun and I'd have liked to take the shower home with me, but it didn't fit in my luggage... ;-) Breakfast—peach crepes with yogurt, fruit and granola; cappuccino and a basket of homemade pastries—was artfully presented, healthy and delicious. Does it get better than that? As a matter of fact, it does, because conversation with Mark and his other guests was also completely engaging. And with its independent shops and restaurants, Manayunk is an adorable area with something for everyone. From start to finish our stay at Manayunk Chambers Guest House was a salve for body and mind. Thank you so much, Mark and Neal. We can't wait to come back again.…
We stayed in December 2022 with another couple. The Inn is spectacularly decorated and Mark went out of his way to be accommodating. The food was delicious. We would definitely stay again and would recommend to others without reservation.
I recently stayed several nights at the Manayunk Chambers Guest House. It was a wonderful experience! The setting is a Victorian home that has been superbly restored. Mark is a stellar host who is meticulously attentive to detail and enhancing your stay. The room was a pleasure. The gem in my stay was each morning at breakfast. Mark is chef and baker who provides a healthy and delicious breakfast plate PLUS a basket of extraordinary, fresh-baked pastries - all of the gems. Together with fresh juice and a real espresso - and one is ready to face whatever the day holds. Thanks, Mark, for a great time - the wine-poached pear was a showstopper!
Charming B&B in Heart of Manayuak. Great host and charming accommodations. Breakfast includes freshly baked pastries and fruit, Excellent location for Manayunk and is not far from the train station to Central City.
What a great addition to our trip to Philly for a concert. Usually we just look for a place to spend the night and go on our way. But the Manayunk Chambers Guest House added a whole new vibe to our trip. The place is wonderful, the Victorian ambience, the most comfortable king bed, footed tub and the memorable host who is also a fabulous baker puts it on the top of our list. Thanks Mark We'll be back!
We are truly appreciative to have not stayed in downtown Philly for a mini vacation trip of 4 days in Manayunk ,a charming area of North Philadelphia .Mark was our host and his charming bed and breakfast was beyond our expectations. Our morning breakfasts were filled with homemade croissants and fresh breads and danishes that were delicios .Everyday was different and marvelous .Our accommodations were equal to four star hotels in the heart of Paris .Our room was called La Parisienne « and I loved even the wall paper in our bathroom with its walk-in shower .We will definitely return .Thank you for being a superlative host .The close proximity of the Philadelphia Museum of Art ,the Rodin and the Barnes Collection is a definite draw .Your other guests were equally charming and we made new friends who have a lot in common .We enjoyed the camaraderie.…
We loved our stay at Manayunk Chambers Guest House! Everything was clean and well equipped. I had talked with Mark about the extra bedding we would need and everything was there and ready for us. He also listened to our dietary needs and had all the specialty foods we needed, as well as his delectable home-baked goods for breakfast every morning. I will absolutely plan to stay there every time we're in town. It's so close to our Philadelphia family, that it's wonderfully convenient as well as wonderfully comfortable.
The house is very Victorian and decorated as such. It's on a quiet street so no traffic noise and the town is very walkable. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Just as an FYI, there is no TV in the rooms so if you are used to going to sleep with the TV on, you will need to bring your own device and the WIFI is good. Breakfast is amazing and made to your time preference so everything is fresh and hot. All home baked breads and pastries, fresh fruit, greek yogurt, homemade granola, etc. Everything was delicious! We would definitely recommend this establishment. You won't be disappointed.
This Bread & Breakfast is quite a gem! I stayed for a long-term situation and was completely satisfied. Mark, the Innkeeper goes out of his way to attend to the details that help you feel at home. He offers the highest quality of hospitality! The house, which is very clean, has comfortable beds and sits in a quiet neighborhood that's a short walk to downtown Manyunk. The Innkeeper applies his attention to detail as he provides the most comfortable bed and wonderfully delicious breakfast with only the freshest ingredients and plates it all so beautifully. The Innkeeper also makes an outstanding cappuccino or espresso for you each day of your stay; no need to visit a local coffeeshop. This lovely home will not disappoint!
