Great location, I picked it because it was central to be able to walk to everything. Staff was friendly, breakfast was outstanding, rooms were typical hotel rooms and beds were very comfortable. It’s not historic or fancy but a solid choice for people who like getting a good value for their money and being in a central location. Area felt safe and we walked to everything day and night. I would recommend this without hesitation and would stay here again. Got a great deal through Trip Advisor too which saved additional money. Overall a 10/10!

Hotel's Favourite
The staff was excellent. I stayed during a time when the computer systems were down. They had everything prepared so that our stay was not at all interrupted by this. I want to commend general manager Kidada and her team on excellent customer service. The hotel was also clean and well appointed. And in a GREAT location.

We came to the HIE Midtown for two nights to enjoy the tourist sights in center city Philadelphia. It was on the heels of a nearby road rage incident that made national news regarding a young man who jumped on and smashed a vehicle driven by a young woman with her two kids inside. We almost cancelled our reservations, but I am glad that we didn't. We felt safe and walked easily to numerous attractions such as the Liberty Bell, Betsy Ross house and Reading Terminal. We also took the Philly Phlash bus with somewhat mixed results. It was inexpensive ($5 for the day pp), safe and the driver was friendly. Our only issue was that the wait time was longer than advertised, and there's no app to show you when the next Phlash bus will arrive. The hotel's location was excellent and most of the attractions were walkable within a mile. At night, we Uber'd to Franklin Square to play spooky mini golf, and I have to say that it is one of the best mini golf courses that I've ever played in terms of theming and challenge of the course. We had an excellent dinner across the street from the Holiday Inn at a place called Mother's. It was a Thai tapas restaurant and really reasonably priced and delicious. The breakfast at the Holiday Inn was plentiful and had many protein options (not just the usual carb-heavy fare.) They offered cheese omelettes, bacon, sausage, Greek yogurt, etc. The room was very clean and the housekeeper assigned to our room even wrote us a thank you note for our daily tip. That's a first for us! On the plus side, the beds were comfortable, the room came equipped with a refrigerator (a big one that was actually cold) and microwave and there were plenty of working charging outlets for our electronic devices. We had a renovated room on the 15th floor. The only downside is that the bathroom is laid out strangely. The door is so close to the toilet that it practically hits it. If you are a light sleeper, you'll appreciate the black out curtains, but even the heavily insulated windows don't muffle the never-ending honking sounds from the street below. We parked our car for $35/night and didn't move it. I think it would have been $39/night with in & out privileges. All in all, I would definitely return to this hotel for any future visits to Philly. Location was excellent, staff was friendly, room was clean and the quality breakfast got our day off to an efficient and healthy start.

Very nice hotel rooms, but a very dated hotel. Parking was weird and awkward and no one tells you where to go or what to do. Basically, you are expected to unload very quickly, drive up the single-lane parking ramp, hoping there isn't another vehicle wanting to come down at the same time, and then find a parking spot and hand your keys over to an attendant. It's unlikely your car will be parked in the same spot when you want to pick it up because the cars are double parked and the attendants will move them around as needed. Definitely do not leave anything valuable in your vehicles, but otherwise it was a safe area. Just needs a bit of TLC inside. The lobby was great and so was the breakfast area, but the halls and room doors need upgrading. Our room was great, very comfortable beds. The pool was great too, but I wish it was heated or that they also had a hot tub. My sister has leg issues, so she couldn't get into the pool as there were no steps to get in and out, just ladders. My nephew used the weight room and thought it was nice.

When I book a hotel I always book it off location and this time was no different. The HIEPM has a location that’s unmatched at a very very affordable price point. First and foremost yes the hotel is a little dated and the elevators are damn slow but if you can get past that it’s an unreal option. Breakfast options at the buffet are plentiful and the staff is so, SO friendly and respectful. From the ladies at the front desk to the gentleman sweeping the floors everyone is incredibly nice and welcoming. Props to management for this. The property itself it’s a short 10 min walk to a tonne of various sights such as Reading Terminal Market, City Hall, JFK Park and about a 30 minute walk to Independence Hall and the historic district. Ubers are about 20 minutes to the various stadiums and to Philadelphia International Airport. Rooms are comfy and mostly quiet (you are in Center City after all so some noise is expected) All in all this is a great choice for people just looking for someplace to pass out at night after a long day of exploring. Would definitely recommend.

We usually stay at the Loews but decided to save money since we needed 2 rooms. This place is a little older and low frills. I don't want to say it's run down but it could definitely use a little TLC. The staff was very friendly which I appreciated. One of the elevators didn’t work which made all rides uncomfortably cramped and slow. The AC in our room did not work well. It really negatively affected our experience. The bathrooms were really small. No valet. I probably will not return.

I stayed here about 10 years, I think I liked the hotel better back then than now. The parking situation is a pain, especially if you want to check-in first. The hotel is dated and could really use an update. The hotel lodging floors start on the 6th floor as the hotel sits on the parking garage and rooms go up to the 20th floor. There are 3 elevators, but only 2 were working, so it made for a very slow process to get to your room and crowded elevators. The breakfast was your typical HIE offering. Not sure if I would come back next time in Philly.

Nice room. Quiet surroundings. Elevtor a little slow. Personnel very attentive! Breakfast is good but you have to arrive early to have enough food. Coffee is good. A little bit noisy. Great location but a little far by foot from the historical center.

Love the rooftop pool so much more than an indoor pool and it actually goes to 9ft. Parking logistics are tough. Fridge was cold and toilets were real small squatty potty's. Elevator was real humid and stuffy with no air flow. Was dusty in room with small tv's. Air condition never got as cold as you set the temperature on.

Stayed here for a quick overnight. The room was clean and a good size. The sink is outside of the room w/ the shower and toilet. The shower/toilet room is tiny. Parking is conveniently next door but allow time to retrieve your car because it is tandem parking. Breakfast was much better than your average IHG Express.
