Detailed Reviews
When I book a hotel I always book it off location and this time was no different. The HIEPM has a location that’s unmatched at a very very affordable price point. First and foremost yes the hotel is a little dated and the elevators are damn slow but if you can get past that it’s an unreal option. Breakfast options at the buffet are plentiful and the staff is so, SO friendly and respectful. From the ladies at the front desk to the gentleman sweeping the floors everyone is incredibly nice and welcoming. Props to management for this.
The property itself it’s a short 10 min walk to a tonne of various sights such as Reading Terminal Market, City Hall, JFK Park and about a 30 minute walk to Independence Hall and the historic district. Ubers are about 20 minutes to the various stadiums and to Philadelphia International Airport. Rooms are comfy and mostly quiet (you are in Center City after all so some noise is expected)
All in all this is a great choice for people just looking for someplace to pass out at night after a long day of exploring. Would definitely recommend.

Hotel's Favourite
The staff was excellent. I stayed during a time when the computer systems were down. They had everything prepared so that our stay was not at all interrupted by this. I want to commend general manager Kidada and her team on excellent customer service. The hotel was also clean and well appointed. And in a GREAT location.

Great view from my room (view in photo), easy parking, felt very clean and spacious inside the room. So much amazing food within walking distance. Loved the bottled water for free in the lobby. The shower had great water pressure and the 7th-floor pool was a great place to relax in the evenings. I never heard any noise from other rooms of from the street in my room. The hallways are a little dim and I wish it was easier to use the stairs.
Breakfast was on par with other Holiday Inn Express options. The area was kept clean and well-stocked.
Overall, we had a great stay and would stay again.

This hotel was a great location for our stay to go to the Philadelphia Flower Show. It was a short couple block walk to the convention center and the area was nice and well lit. Check in was very slow and while we had asked for a high floor and far from elevators we got placed on floor 9 right next to the elevators. It was 1 night so chose not to complain. It was a week night so it was quiet and have no complaints but might have felt different on a busy weekend with lots of foot traffic. The room was very clean. Free breakfast was very good with several choices. With construction the breakfast is on the 7th floor and the stairs door doesn't open on that floor so take the elevator. Also parking in the parking garage is only until check out so if planning to stay later the 3pm you will have to pay $6 a 1/2 hour with a max of $24. We wanted to move our car at that news but since our car was completely parked in we chose not to waste our time. Overall not a bad experience and hope to stay again once the construction is complete.

We came to the HIE Midtown for two nights to enjoy the tourist sights in center city Philadelphia.
It was on the heels of a nearby road rage incident that made national news regarding a young man who jumped on and smashed a vehicle driven by a young woman with her two kids inside. We almost cancelled our reservations, but I am glad that we didn't. We felt safe and walked easily to numerous attractions such as the Liberty Bell, Betsy Ross house and Reading Terminal. We also took the Philly Phlash bus with somewhat mixed results. It was inexpensive ($5 for the day pp), safe and the driver was friendly. Our only issue was that the wait time was longer than advertised, and there's no app to show you when the next Phlash bus will arrive. The hotel's location was excellent and most of the attractions were walkable within a mile. At night, we Uber'd to Franklin Square to play spooky mini golf, and I have to say that it is one of the best mini golf courses that I've ever played in terms of theming and challenge of the course.
We had an excellent dinner across the street from the Holiday Inn at a place called Mother's. It was a Thai tapas restaurant and really reasonably priced and delicious. The breakfast at the Holiday Inn was plentiful and had many protein options (not just the usual carb-heavy fare.) They offered cheese omelettes, bacon, sausage, Greek yogurt, etc. The room was very clean and the housekeeper assigned to our room even wrote us a thank you note for our daily tip. That's a first for us! On the plus side, the beds were comfortable, the room came equipped with a refrigerator (a big one that was actually cold) and microwave and there were plenty of working charging outlets for our electronic devices. We had a renovated room on the 15th floor. The only downside is that the bathroom is laid out strangely. The door is so close to the toilet that it practically hits it. If you are a light sleeper, you'll appreciate the black out curtains, but even the heavily insulated windows don't muffle the never-ending honking sounds from the street below.
We parked our car for $35/night and didn't move it. I think it would have been $39/night with in & out privileges.
All in all, I would definitely return to this hotel for any future visits to Philly. Location was excellent, staff was friendly, room was clean and the quality breakfast got our day off to an efficient and healthy start.

My wife and I were actually across from Scotland visiting my son and his family in Baltimore when we decided to pay a short visit to Philadelphia. Chose this hotel as it was decently priced and seemed to be in a good location. We were not disappointed. Greeted by the most pleasant and cheerful staff that we have encountered anywhere, we knew instantly we were onto a winner. From the moment we arrived the staff were so helpful and nothing was too much bother for any of them. Allocated a room on the 15th floor, the room was above our expectations, cleanliness was exceptional and the room had all the facilities you would expect from a Holiday Inn. The Hotel was in a great location and close to all major landmarks, also in the vicinity of the hotel were numerous restaurants, pubs, cafes etc that catered for every taste. Breakfast was served between 06.30 and 10.30 and was of a really good standard with a nice selection of hot and cold dishes and a good selection of hot and cold drinks, a really nice way to start your day. We had no issues with walking around the area and felt very safe in doing so.
All in all a very pleasant visit and a final mention to the wonderful staff, you were a credit to your Hotel and your City.

I stayed here for work for a week. The location affords easy access to a large number of employers and offices. The station is only 20 minutes away on foot if you arrive on the Amtrak.
The room I had was on the top floor and gave me a great view of the city. The room was large and spacious and I had all I need - microwave, fridge and of course ironing equipment. The bathroom was split into a basin and then the shower and toilet in another room.
Breakfast was in line with brand expectations and was kept well stocked by the friendly staff.
In fact the staff were all excellent.

This was the second hotel on the recommended list provided by the federal government when I was selected for jury duty and I was si pleasantly surprised. All of the staff we very friendly and helpful. The hotel was extremely clean. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The water pressure in the shower was strong. As a rewards member, two bottle of water were provided at check-in but there was also a wonderful water filter system where you could refill bottles. The breakfast spread was great with both hot and cold items as well as gluten free options too. If I have a need to come back to Philly, I will definitely stay in this hotel again.

Perhaps the best hotel staff ever. Front desk was great. Small issue with microwave promptly taken care of. Free WiFi was good enough.
Location is wonderful for Center City Philadelphia. Parking is at the hotel. Uber or subway from the train station is easy.
We were there for The Barns, Philadelphia Art Museum, The Phillies, Reading Terminal Market and enjoying Center City.
Rooms are nice, about as you would expect. Price is good for Center City. Reading Terminal Market for lunch is a close walk. Many nice restaurants are a close walk nearby. Reasonable walks to all parts of center city, or a short Uber / Lyft / Taxi.
Free breakfasts continue to get more mediocre at Holiday Inn Express. Scrambled eggs taste like plastic. Cheese eggs have too much cheese. Oatmeal is like glue. One day coffee was excellent. The next day, less so.
An amazing amount of noise from outside, even on the 17th floor. Things get rowdy out there at 2 AM. Most of the noise seemed to come through the air conditioner! We could also clearly hear from the room right below us. As for a room that does not face a street.
It would be nice to be able to leave the fan on throughout the night to add white noise to the background. But the fan turns on and off with the compressor, even though I selected the fan to remain on.
Elevators have very little air ventilation. A prime source of Covid infection.

Polite front desk.
Super spacious rooms, with two spacious and comfortable beds. Good shower, but bathtub style and with plastic curtain. Room with carpet.
Cot provided deserves an update, but at least it comes with a mattress.
Breakfast ok. I missed assorted and chopped fruits. They only offer green apples and bananas.
Coffee to go available until 10pm.
The breakfast room can be used until 11pm.
Well located. There is a market in front and it is open until 10pm, including on Thanksgiving.
Availability of a washing machine costing USD 3 for washing and USD 2.5 for drying and the horel does not provide soap
