We spent one night here and the accommodation was commendable. We had a double room which was great. The decor is quaint and very homey. Our hosts were very friendly and we received a thorough tour of the property and facilities upon arrival. Breakfast was nice.....quite relaxed. We had our 4 year old with us which was not an issue... Warm welcome, homemade cookies/brownies, amazing breakfasts by Ms. Eleanor, lovely antiques and spacious rooms, evenings spent in rocking chairs on the front porch or in the lovely gardens and a potbelly pig! Close to so many wondrous things to do and good places to eat. What more could one ask for?

We came to Fort Davis to see the McDonald Observatory. The Veranda was very nice, quiet, clean, and staff was polite and friendly. Room 4 had a private side entrance, which we liked. Only negative was the shower because it was very small. We've already recommended The Veranda to friends.

Enjoyed a wonderful stay on October 12, 2016. There were four of us and we loved our spacious rooms, delicious breakfast and chats with the other guests. After sleeping on the train and in the Big Bend NP lodge, this place seemed like paradise. The husbands especially appreciated the comfortable sitting room with a television. The wives appreciated the bathtubs... More

First, one must recognize that the Veranda is a historic hotel built in the late 1800's and folks that only like modern hotels may not find this place up to their standards (no TV in rooms for example). However, it was exactly what I expected with it's rustic charm and conveniently located 2 blocks from the small commercial area of... More

Charming B&B. Quaint. Quiet. Like a step back in time. Bed could have been a little more comfortable. Portable A/C. Ft. Davis is a charming town. Cool, dry evenings. Good breakfast, good host, lots of people there for breakfast. Hardly saw anyone until then. Loved the place. Rates were reasonable. Would definitely go back.

Took my hubby here for his birthday. Lovely historical inn. Quiet location. Room was wonderful with comfortable antique furnishings and a private bathroom with a nice shower/tub. No AC, but not needed at all. Had homemade cookies waiting in the lobby each day. Nice hot breakfast each morning. Walk the grounds around the inn, they're very nice. We had reservations... More

Thank you for your review! We look forward to your next visit. By the way, all of our rooms are air conditioned. Our central A/C is very quiet! More

There are basically two places to stay in Fort Davis, Texas-- this B&B and the old hotel Limpia. We usually prefer B&Bs, so chose this, but we think we would have done better in the hotel. The B&B main building is historic, and interesting for that reason, but we thought the separate cottage would be great for us as a... More

I am sorry that you did not enjoy the Garden Cottage. Ironically, it is consistently one of our most popular rooms. The furniture is actually antique (except for the leather lounge chairs), and the building is the original converted bath house for the inn. We like to think that the private porch overlooking Sleeping Lion Mountain makes up for the... More

My wife and I stayed here July 26 for one night. David , the host , was very prompt and courteous showing us to our room, and made good recommendations of restaraunts in the area. The room itself (#7) was large, nice, and clean, with a very comfortable king-sized bed and antique furniture. The bathroom was almost standard hotel fare,... More

This is a historic inn filled with antique furniture and very relaxing. It had special touches that made it worth the stay. The amazing breakfast in the morning is home cooked and delicious. I was impressed. The homemade cookies put out in the afternoon were awesome. I was excited each day to see what kind they would be. When we... More
