We stayed here last year (i'm just catching up on the review) but we really wanted to do the review because this hotel was awesome. The facility was great, clean, comfortable, nice.. but what made a difference was the PEOPLE!... Kiana was the front desk supervisor, always answering our questions, helping out when we needed something, had a great personality and very friendly. Anita was in the Kitchen.. she had a smile on her face, always helpful, happy, very nice, we looked forward to seeing her every morning, and we did have an issue in our room, but Lazaro was sent to fix it and boom, done. no hassles, no questions, everything was great. If we go back to Baltimore, we definitely will be staying there again!!!

A good hotel in its class. Free wifi, free breakfast both good. The room was clean and had a fridge. I'd recommend higher floors
Excellent location. Near Inner Harbor and Little Italy. Staff friendly. Located near free circulator bus service.

Two words: Dawn [--]. One would think that as the general manager of the Marriot Fairfield Inn Baltimore, she would treat her guests with respect and maturity. With Dawn, that was not the case. I recently booked a room with the hotel because my daughter was graduating from a local college, but after the sudden passing of my father, I had to cancel the reservation. Long story short, there was an issue with the cancelation, and when I called to confirm that I had in fact canceled, I was met by Dawn with nothing but pure hostility and arrogance. After a long heated exchange over the phone, I was informed that my cancellation fee was not waived, and I had to pay for the room. However, when I said fine, I'll take the room then, she informed me that she had given it away. At one point during the exchange, Dawn called me a liar, and accused me about lying about the death of my father, who we had buried only two days before.

My business revolves around travel, and I deal with hotels on a constant, daily basis. Never in my 30 years in the business have I ever met a person like Dawn. She was ignorant, stubborn, cold, and extremely demeaning. She insulted not only myself, but the memory of my father as well. I will never come back, or recommend this hotel to my clients while Dawn is still there.

Dawn and the hotel should be ashamed and embarrassed by her actions. That is not how a professional in the hotel service industry should act, and more importantly, that is not how a person with dignity and class talks to another person, regardless of the relationship.

So heed my warning to all those planning to stay at this hotel; when planning a trip to Baltimore, take the extra second to look somewhere else, and avoid the "Dawn [--]" experience that I had the unfortunate pleasure of experiencing.

First off, this hotel is beautiful; it's new, clean, almost "swanky". It's located in a perfect spot, where you can get ANYWHERE in no time. I have no complaints about the building, or the location.

I have a SERIOUS issue with the staff, however. I think a flock of geese could run a hotel better, and would probably be more polite.

Upon check in, the woman at the front swiped my card (as always) and everything was fine. I checked online to see what the hold was; Room charges +$100 in incidentals. ($100 is a little steep, but whatever) The next day, over 24 hours later, I get a call from the front desk attendant, who wasnt exactly familiar enough with english to effectively communicate her issue. She kept saying they needed my card for authorization.

I told her she must be wrong, I did that the day before, at check-in. The next few things she said were unintelligable, so I talked to the manager. He couldn't seem to plausably explain to me why I was seeing a hold on my bank and they didn't see one, but he politely said "Don't worry about it, I'll figure it out."

The NEXT morning at 730am, my room phone rings. It's another manager, politely asking for my card. I snapped.
I logged in to my bank account and to my utter SHOCK they were holding WELL over twice the room charge, effectively draining my bank account, and they wanted MORE.

After I showed the manager my bank account, and had her call my bank, she still kept trying to SOMEHOW make it MY fault that THEY made a mistake. Her attutude that developed was disheartening.

I understand that their computer made an error. I also understand that they FINALLY saw that it was an error on their behalf, but I still can't understand why no one could be bothered to say "Sorry."

As nice as this hotel is, and as much of an ABSOLUTE steal it is for the area, I won't retun because of how rude and disorganised the staff is.

Our family of 5 (4&2 year old and a 7 month old) stayed for one night on 12FEB2015 at the Fairfield Inn to see the National Aquarium. The aquarium is a 10min walk from the hotel. Upon pulling up to the hotel late in the evening the valet service handled all our bags from the mini-van to the room. We also were included a pack-n-play (free of charge) for our stay which was brought to our room. The pack-n-play was visually clean and smelled like it was recently disinfected. The room was up most comfortable and accommodating. The following morning at breakfast, the food was prepared perfectly however the two ladies, X and Y, went above and beyond for my family. During our conversation with the staff, my son’s birthday plans were mentioned. Ms. Lia and Ms. Melvina prepared waffles and juices for my older two children and also prepared a plate for my wife as well where normally one serves themselves to the buffet. We could not thank the ladies enough for their service and generosity. The main part that took my wife and I aback was that while we were eating our breakfast, the staff had signed a birthday card for my son and gave him a piece of chocolate cake, because what 4 year old EVER turns chocolate cake down for breakfast! Despite the fact that we were only at the hotel for approximately 16 hours, the staff treated us as if we were long time clients of the highest regard. I highly recommend the Fairfield Inn at the inner harbor because of the entire staff and especially Ms. Lia and Ms. Melvina, because they created a memory that will be with our family for all our days. We greatly appreciate their hard work and generous nature. Thank you, Michael and Becky.

We stayed here for my nephew's wedding. We arrived shortly after the 3PM check-in time only to be greeted by à long line at the desk. After a half hour wait spent witnessing several frustrated patrons we finally got to the head of the line. We were informed that none of the three rooms we reserved were ready despite the fact that we were now nearly 45 minutes past the check-in time. We were not alone as a number of other people that were there for the same wedding, including one of the attendants, found themselves in the same circumstances as did people in another wedding party. As a result my wife was forced to change in a restroom while I had to impose on some relatives to dress in their room. We were not able to access our room till after the reception and so we found ourselves retrieving our luggage from our relative's room at around midnight. Particularly troubling was the insistence - the rather rude insistence - by a staff member wearing a name tag "Theresa" that this was not their fault.

If this were not bad enough my wife and I headed to the lobby the following morning at 8:30 for breakfast service that commenced at 7AM. There was no coffee in the pots for caffeinated coffee and the decaf was ice-cold.

At $200/room I think I am entitled to much better service and will b not return here. I am glad we will not be using them for the guests for my daughter's wedding next summer.

Hotel location is good. We just walked from the hotel to Inner Harbor and Top of the World Observation Level. The place is also good and clean. Our room is clean. Space is not large enough but there's a tiny living area (sofa, tv, ref). I was surprised (in a good way) about the toiletries because they were known brands and not some generic crappy hotel products.

We also ate at Tavern101 at the ground floor. Their crab cakes are really good. All meat and no starchy fillers.

Overall, I am happy with the hotel. Until I lost my backpack. I know valuables are the responsibility of the owner, but I was disappointed by how easily a bag can get lost/stolen in the hotel's shared spaces. I just laid down my bag on the floor while our group was getting coffee near the breakfast area. It was in the evening and there was just my group and a couple of guests going to the elevator. When I got to our room and realized my bag is missing, I immediately ran and took the elevator (room is on 2nd floor) and searched for it. It was no longer there. All happening in less than an hour!. Front Desk asked the staff if they found a bag, and that's it. She didn't ask for my name, my room, how my bag looked like. I had to go back and ask Front Desk if there's any way we can review the video monitor in that area. I was only told there's none in that hall and I had to wait for the manager, who has the only access to the video logs, in the morning, at 11AM!

I spoke with the next shift at the Front Desk in the morning and she was more helpful. She took down my name and contact number and a description of the backpack, and contacted the Lost & Found staff. Way better response than the one at the Front Desk the night before! The other staff I spoke with (incl. the lost & found guy) reacted like it's a lost case. No initiative, no effort.

Thankfully, my backpack did not have passports and important documents and valuables. It was my baby's diaper bag, and her essential feeding stuff were there. :(

My family and I really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Our only slight complaint would be the rooms are small. Other than that, the place was super clean, and just felt really "cool" to stay at. It's warm and attractive red brick facade was matched by it's inside. I'm not sure if the building used to be a warehouse or something, but the whole place just had a real airy, loft-like, and comfotable feel to it. And its chic decor complimented this perfectly. It seemed like everyone here - both staff and guests - were always in a good mood. This, along with the free breakfast buffet and fresh coffee each morning, made this the most relaxing and enjoyable place to start off each day in Baltimore's Inner Harbour.
