The location was great! The room was clean and perfectly suited our needs. The staff was all very professional and helpful. Frank, at the door, was SO excellent and friendly. He directed us to our desired locations and made great recommendations. The limited amount of food we had was very good. I would definitely stay here again.
This place is amazing and is pet friendly which is a wonderful bonus. Charlie the valet was amazing, as was the whole staff. Great for walking. We loved it here and will be back. This was our frist time in Savanah and we loved it. The hotel for me hit 5 stars on everything. The restaurants in house where good but if you wanted something different it was just a short walk.
I’m giving mixed reviews on this one. The hotel is beautiful with lots of historic and southern charm. I was attending a seminar for business and expected something at least close to 5 stars. The valet who greeted me was great. Checking in was also simple. The room was clean and bed was comfortable. I was informed that there would be no cleaning service unless I requested it. My room was equipped with two bath towels, one hand towel, one wash cloth and a “makeup” cloth. There was no room service. The bathroom hadn’t been well maintained. Knobs and the towel rack were loose enough that I thought they might fall off. It started to look a little low budget. Thankfully, the outdoor temperature was mild because the thermostat was difficult to operate and I’m not sure the HVAC worked at all. If it worked, it was the only quiet thing about this room. The walls seemed to be paper thin and I could hear conversations occurring in the halls at all hours and somebody’s barking dog from a room down the hall. The adjoining room was even worse. I don’t know if the woman who stayed in it had volume control issues or if the soundproofing between rooms was non-existent but I could hear every word of her conversations. She must have been from the west coast because she had very loud conversations from between 11 and 12:30 every evening. I tried to run the HVAC fan to get some background noise but it made no noise at all. On the second evening after listening to the loud conversations going on next door instead of sleeping, I called the front desk and asked if I could change rooms in the morning. I was told that I could. I went to the front desk the next morning and was told that I could change rooms but they could help me with it after my seminar ended for the day. I went back to the desk after the seminar was done for the day. It was manned by a man who acted like changing rooms would be very challenging for him and possibly ruin his evening. I gave up and stayed in the loud room for one more night. I checked out the next day without incident. Charlie was the valet on duty and he was awesome. I think he should run the front desk, maybe the entire hotel, because he gets it. Overall, it did not live up to expectations and I would not choose to stay there again. It’s a shame because it could be so much better.…
The location was perfect. The hotel is charming. Easy walk or trolley to everywhere. Shout out to Charlie who gave us exemplary guest service. He acclimated us to the area. Thanks Charlie. We rented a car and realized we did not need a car (just a suggestion). An Uber from the airport would have been smarter.
Staying at the calming yet eclectic hotel In beautiful historic Savannah made our weekend plans perfect. We encourage all who have explored or get to embrace Savannah to stay at The Desoto Hotel. The guest room was fit with relaxing amenities and luxurious bedding with an extravagant bathroom shower. We stayed in the executive suite with balcony and the sun light warmed the room perfectly. Dining at 1540 was a special treat with the farm to table menu. Try the Scottish egg! Concierge help was nothing but helpful and filled with information for our stay. Thank you again!
Great hotel, close to everything in historic Savannah. And a special shout out to Charlie, one of the auto valets. Very professional, courteous, and great personality. A real asset! Will be looking forward to staying at the DeSoto soon!
Big thank you to Charlie and Frank P!! Those guys are awesome and provided amazing service! Highly recommend staying here. The room was nice and clean as well. The restaurant next door (1540 Room) is very good as well.
we found an amazing $150 rate on travelzoo and booked. The hotel's reviews were good as was the first impression (impressive lobby) BUT the room was small, only 2 beds and a small old TV, very poor amenities, no towel racks, no minibar or fridge. The rate for a non- discount additional night was over $400 (New Year's) so we switched to the Cambria, a much more enjoyable hotel.
My husband and I were in Savannah for one evening and enjoyed our stay at The DeSoto. The location is perfect, very centrally located! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful! Bed was comfortable and the breakfast was delicious and reasonably priced. We will definitely stay there again when in Savannah.
My fiancé, sister, and I stayed at The Desoto while passing through Savannah on our way to Charleston. Seriously, 5/5!!! Our view was so stunning and the staff was so kind. After we had already checked out, our truck battery died in front of the hotel. I decided to go ask the front desk for help and before I could even get to the entry door, Stephanie and Josh were on their way to us with a Jump Starter kit. I was so touched by this kindness. I highly recommend The Desoto if you’re looking for amazing service, views, and the best location. We walked all over Savannah and it was so nice to return here for a cozy night sleep.
