#12 of 128 hotels in Savannah
2021 Travellers' Choice Best of the Best
Built of cobble and ballast stones in 1817, as a cotton warehouse, our converted, historic hotel overlooks the Savannah River, right on world famous River Street. Many rooms are decorated with period furnishings, four poster beds, oriental rugs, hardwood floors and exposed brick walls, maintaining its historic charm. Located just blocks from downtown Broughton Street shopping district & City Market, cars aren't needed, as all is within walking distance; Valet Parking is available. With four restaurants on property (guest are offered a discount) located within the building are many shops, guests don't have to venture far! Sight seeing trolleys pick up / drop off in front of our hotel and the Savannah River boat is docked across from our property.

From the time you check in at the River Inn, you feel welcome. The front staff is awesome, and the manager’s reception is all that. The room is clean and beautiful. Once we parked our car, we didn’t have to move it.

Hotel's Favourite
First, let me say that we are Marriott people. We have stayed at just a few boutique hotels but never one that we enjoyed as much as this one. We had originally booked two rooms at the Marriott on the riverfront and after reading the reviews quickly cancelled! They apparently have really let that place go down. We were looking for a nice place to meet our son and new daughter-in-law for a weekend visit while they were on their honeymoon. The River Street Inn did not disappoint! The rooms (we stayed on the riverfront) were beautiful, the bedding was top of the line and the location was great. What made the stay five stars though was the people who work at this outstanding small hotel. Wally checked us in at the front desk and was so polite. Ashley who I had spoken with before our visit acknowledged our phone call and caught Wally up to speed on exactly what we needed. She went out of her way both days that we were there to be sure we were all taken care of. Then there was Val who worked the wine room in the evenings...she was fabulous. She put out a nice spread, kept our cups full and provided the best entertainment! If you are looking for an experience, rather than just a stay, definitely give River Street a try!

I don’t get the good reviews. Lobby and stairway area from River Street was filthy. No housekeeping during our visit so be satisfied with 2 towels 2 coffee cups and no trash emptied. The front desk was usually vacant unless the manager was there on his computer far too busy to help customers. No robes as advertised or turn down service as advertised even though I did pay the extra fee for extra services. Stay at the Hampton or Holiday Inn across the street or the Westin across the River for the same price or less. I was so looking forward to a 4 Star hotel.

Thank you for your review. Our apologies that your stay with us was less than desirable. Like many hotels in this day in age we are not providing stayover service to respect our guests privacy and to help stop the spread of COVID, with COVID rates going up in the country we will reevaluate our next steps on a lite refresh service in the future for those guests staying multiple nights. In the meantime we notify our guests to let the front desk know if any amenities and linen/terry is needed so we can deliver it to you. I would like the opportunity to discuss your experience further, please reach out to me at jrosa@riverstreetinn.com.

Great place on the river. The person booking our stay over the phone was not very helpful at all, so I reccomend booking online. The rooms were great, the fitness center was clean, and the location was in the middle of everything. Great Hotel.

We stayed in the River Street Inn for 3 nights. The rooms are spacious and the location is good but very noisy. The room was dirty upon arrival especially the floors and the bathroom. The room service leaves much to be desired: beds are not made, trash is not emptied, towels are not changed, shampoo and soaps are not replenished. It requires you to call the front desk to get fresh towels and to get trash taken out. For a rate of $500 per night I am expecting more. I do not understand why this hotel receives such positive reviews.

Thank you for your review. Our apologies that we have missed the mark this time around on your stay. I will certainly speak with my housekeeping management to ensure that these rooms are being checked prior to check in so that this situation does not repeat itself in the future. We plan to begin a "lite refresh" service in the coming weeks to be able to get into the rooms and spruce them up. Currently due to the rise in COVID cases we are still being cautious and respectful to not enter guests rooms once they check in unless there is an emergency. We do hope that in light of this you allow us another opportunity to host you again in the future.
