Beautiful property, just decorated for the holidays with a Christmas tree -- all different-- in each guest room. Innkeeper Cheryl prepared maple-bourbon French toast and other lavish goodies for breakfast. If you appreciate historical ambience, this inn is ideal. Dates to 1770 and is in the heart of the historic district, so you step outside to shops, restaurants etc. Very...

We loved the location of the B&B as it was on a street filled with restaurants, shops and antique stores. The room was tastefully decorated in antique furniture that was comfortable and user-friendly. However, our mattress was very uncomfortable and made awful sounds whenever we tried to move. Our bathroom door needed to be trimmed as it was too big...

A delightful place to stay, especially for a romantic get-away. Lots of little touches, such as a night light in the bathroom, luxurious bathrobes, wine and cheese in the afternoon, brandy in the room, coffee available at any time, etc. Very friendly and helpful staff. Currently struggling with wifi, but available in sitting area. Highly recommended.

Perfect position in town opposite the tourist information, great people there too. Walk to restaurants and battle site. Cindy a perfect host, great cook and nice person, great advice and tips. Parking at rear and a quite garden to sit and review the day. Breakfast is perfect with the other guests and plenty of coffee. We stayed in front room...

We stayed at the Richard Johnston Inn and were completely blown away. Cheryl and Cindy are amazing and so hospitable. They make you feel so at home and like family. The rooms were spacious and super clean. The bed and pillows are very comfortable as well. They offer a night cap of brandy in your room which was a very...

Easy getaway for my college student daughter from DC via bus or train. Best location in center of historic downtown. Easy walk to shops, cafes, historic sites and restaurants. Delicious gourmet breakfasts (spinach feta frittata and potatoes, apricot almond scone, eggs Benedict, yogurt and fruit, juice and coffee). Lovely Inn. Will stay again and will definitely recommend to friends and...

Greetings Betsy! We were happy to be a part of your daughter's fall break - Her company was enjoyed not only by out staff - other guests found her very engaging at the breakfast table! I am hopeful that you can return with her on the next visit! Abundantly grateful for your kind word! Cheryl

We were driving from DC and stopped at Mount Vernon. We wanted to also see at least part of the Fredericksburg battlefield. The RJI was perfect. Just a few miles from the Fredericksburg Battlefield and Chatham Manor, it was a great fit for our purpose. In addition to the beautifully presented inn, lovely room, great breakfast, and kind staff.....it was...

Book early if you want to stay here as it is very popular. A fully renovated property that survived both Civil War battles, each room is themed and period decorated. Breakfast is included and its reported to be legendary. Sadly the cook was sick the two days we spent there, so breakfast was good but not legendary. Great location in...
