This place is amazing. My wife and I along with our toddler stayed three nights and the energy was pure bliss. We didn’t see the management too much (Rex, super nice guy) but whether it was snow shoveling or breakfast set-up… the lodge is kept like a tight ship. Beds extremely comfortable, lodge rustic and charming, land snow-covered and peaceful. Fellow guests were very pleasant as well which made the common areas inviting. We couldn’t recommend it enough. [Just a reminder for toddler owners though: make sure to do some temporary diy baby-proofing. Our little guy sliced his foot pretty bad on the baseboard heater and also he found the surge protectors and bifold doors interesting. Just make sure to check around before you let the little ones explore. Our bad, ultimately. And 19 month olds are a handful]. Please give the Northern Sly Lodge a stay… we loved it!…
Northern Sky Lodge is a clean and quaint lodge that really gives you the feeling of being in the forest of the beautiful Alaska country. It was so nice having a full kitchen to make your own meals with food that they provided for guests. Very clean . We missed the Northern Lights the first night they appeared because we overslept and then the second night there was a cloud cover, but another guest told me they had a great viewing right outside the Lodge. This isn’t a fancy hotel but a comfortable and affordable lodge experience.
The location is perfect for Aurora Borealis capture because there’s total darkness. The place is clean. And the only people who makes the common area dirty especially the kitchen are the guest themselves. I felt safe during our stay although there are other guests.
Enjoyed the little lodge on a beautiful piece of property just outside of Fairbanks. Came for the light show, but unfortunately weather didn't cooperate. If you like meeting other people in a small environment and you love exploring the outdoors, this tranquil home away from the city is for you. The property managers were wonderful and the outdoor fire in the snow was such a nice touch. While I admit I didn't use it, as I am not use to the cold, it was so pleasant to see upon arrival. Food options in the morning was nice and so was the setup.
We only stayed one night here but I wish we had stayed longer. We had the Mining Room. It was very cozy and had everything we needed. It was a perfect place to stay. Although we didn't see Northern Lights, the conditions were perfect. The lodge is outside of town in a beautiful forested area. You are away from city lights. We saw a moose from the breakfast room which has large windows and a beautiful deck. I would highly recommend this place. We were well cared for. I felt more like a guest at a friends house than someone staying in a hotel.
