If your looking for a hotel that is really well positioned in Brooklyn, this is where to stay. However, you need to be aware that the bed clothes can have tear holes in them, windows don’t close and need servicing, the rooms occasionally don’t get serviced at all. The floor is dirty etc. and that the rooms have absolutely nothing to do with the pictures on the internet.

This hotel seemed much nicer in photos. Upon actually arriving the heat in our room didn’t work and it was freezing. There also aren’t BASIC amenities in the room such as a mini fridge, no PHONE to call the front desk (!?), and not even a single glass for getting water from the sink. We had to cup our hands in the sink to drink water at night because we hadn’t known there’d be not even a cup! We could call the front desk about any of these things because there’s NO PHONE in the room. Tried calling from my cell and no one picked up. Paid way too much to stay here considering it felt like a hostel. Super disappointing and would never recommend it to anyone!!!

We stayed at the McCarren Hotel in early October 21 for 4 days. The room was not as nice as the pictures posted on line but that was not a big deal. Our TV didn't work so we asked the front desk personnel to please see if it could be fixed. An engineer came up but wasn't able to correct the problem. We asked again the next morning and each subsequent morning but it was never fixed. When we checked out we expressed our frustration and asked to speak to a manager. We were told we could not contact him/her. That afternoon the front desk called back and said they would give us $50 off our bill (ridiculous little but at least it was someithing). Not surprising the credit never came through on my credit card and I disputed the $50 charge. Once VISA investigated they concluded that the $50 credit was not due and reversed. Undoubtedly, I question to integrity of the owners of this hotel and would strongly advise you find another place to stay if you are in the Williamsburg area.

I used to live in Williamsburg and remembered this hotel being nice when it first opened, but it seems like they have new management because my last trip there was horrible. The room looks ABSOLUTELY NOTHING like the photos. There were paint splotches on the wall, the closet door didn't open and the cabinet was broken. There was no desk as pictured on their website. We requested a cot and when we arrived it wasn't there -- when I told the front desk they said, oh well houskeeping left for the day. The second night we were there we found multiple cans of WHIPPETS under the mattress in a place that was clearly visible when changing the sheets. We complained and showed the manager photos of the drugs and he offered to refund us 2 nights...but he really should have refunded us all five. He also waited forever to respond to our email. And the front desk never answers the phone. My sister also witnessed a sketchy person harassing the young girl at the front desk (they employ super young people who work solo shifts at a makeshift desk --totally unprofessional). The creepy guy tried to follow my sister into the elevator but she managed to get away. There is no security in the building and the doors are fully open. Also what hotel doesn't guarantee entry to the pool for paying guests??? Stay away from this one.

I stayed here in 2018 with friends, and it was a nice hotel at a decent price. This year I stayed for three nights in September and again in October. The September visit was fine except for the fact that the hotel counter in the lobby was gone, and there was just a person sitting at a little table with a laptop checking you in. I had to ask for more towels since there were two of us in the room. Also when I asked for an ironing board, I had to go down and get it. The hotel was quiet, the bed was comfortable and made and we got clean towels each day. The October visit was quite different. They didn't make the bed or bring in clean towels. I let it go the first day, but when we still didn't get clean towels, I told the man at the "desk" and he asked if I had requested that when we checked in. I told him I didn't know I had to ask. We came back that evening, and there were still no clean towels or the bed made. Also, the shower has half a glass wall, and the water ran over the little "ledge" that was supposed to hold it in the shower so the floor would flood each day. Frankly for the price we paid per night, the bed should have been made and clean towels should have been in the bathroom each day especially after I requested them. Apparently, there is a new owner who doesn't seem to know how to run a hotel. The lobby is covered in many area rugs which seems like an accident waiting to happen. There are three or four steps to get to the lobby from the door, but there is no handrail which is awkward when you have luggage. They also advertise a rooftop bar which is not open. If you get there before check in time, they will leave your luggage off to the side of the desk instead of putting it out of sight. The employees were nice, but you don't get the advertised amenities or service for the price of the room. I won't be staying here again.
