Awesome view of the lake! We were efficiently checked into our two bedroom suite -- room was very clean and cozy warm upon arrival. Separate bathrooms was definitely a plus! Loved the rustic cabin feel -- perfect destination for a weekend getaway from the hectic city. Will definitely be back!

Beautiful area! Awesome view of the lake, nice hiking or skiing/snowshoeing trails. Rustic decor, basic bathrooms, all very clean. Pet friendly and reasonable rates. Our favorite place to stay in the Grand Marais area!

Booked one queen bed room for 2 nights first week of October. Booking was simple, check-in was smooth. The room is simple and small knotty pine without much but enough to enjoy the north shore. small bathroom but acceptable. TV with 6 channels, coffee maker and a wonderful large picture window with a view of the best lake in the...

We spent two nights at the Outpost Motel this month and found it to be more than we expected. The rooms and bath were squeaky clean; the kitchen was spotless and the Mr. Coffee coffeemaker worked wonderful, which is not always the case. The bed was firm and comfortable, the huge window overlooking the lake was better than we thought....

Thirty or so years ago this was a common motel experience out in the boonies of Minnesota: a small, mom-and-pop motel along the highway, unpretentious, catering to families with a budget in mind, yet still hoping for a clean room and good bed. Well, here it is, just what it was it still is. If you are of a certain...

I go to the Outpost Motel every summer and I love it. It's a perfect comfortable place to stay while you rest between outings. The staff is very friendly and I love that the rooms have 2 doors, one leading to the parking lot and one to the grassy area facing the highway with a beautiful view of Lake Superior....

This is not a luxury hotel. Instead, it's perfectly clean, perfectly functional, and pleasantly located. We stayed for a Sunday night in mid September. We stayed in a small, tidy room with a single, comfortable queen bed. After getting settled, we crossed highway 61 and took an hour long walk along the polished gravel shore of Lake Superior. Then we...

Giving it a 4 for cleanliness. We stayed the night. Good place for that. Just beware it is not your chain hotel with amenities. Quiet time at 10, walls are paper thin so no tv or anything after 10. Offers wifi but don't count on it. Showers are luke warm. But cleanliness is the key. Quiet quaint place. Good views.

Our family of four stayed for six days in the Cottage. Check-in was smooth and the owners friendly. The Cottage is small, but clean, and offered everything we needed. The beds were comfortable, the shower was hot, the tap water was amazingly good, and the location perfect. It was great to be able to explore all the North Shore has...

We stayed here on 8-17. Stayed here previously and enjoyed the lake view and being away from busy downtown. Room had a microwave and fridge. Excellent view of the lake across the highway. Very well maintained property. Room rates are a lot better than staying in town. Strongly considering another trip in October to go all the way up to...
